"You give me too much credit. And so does Hollen."
Tysha squinted, trying to understand him. "You love him very much, don't you? And all your brothers?"
Erik nodded with hsi gaze fixed on the ceiling. "Yes. BEdmeg is where I live. But my brothers are my true home.">/blockquote>

In this book we focus on Erik, the brother of Hollen who was the main character in the first book of this series. He is a silent and thoughtful man and finds himself with a bride when he gets injured while protecting her. Tysha is timid but a very hardworking and strong woman. Her self-esteem has been beaten down by her husband, who because of a debt sells her to a brothel. I loved that she fought back and saved herself from that horrible place. E

Wow! Just when I thought I had the direction of this series all figured out, Ms. Day thew me for a big ol loop! This was the best kind of book surprise. So very clever. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 It has open this world up to endless possibilities! I really want to say how, but no spoilers from me!!

Both Erik and Tysha were dealing with some very serious self worth issues. I just wanted to both give them a big hug and slap them up side the head at the same time. Admittedly at times I was very f

I breezed through this book. It was that wonderful.
I loved it more than the first book.

Eric and Tysha was a memorable couple. Both hurting and lost somehow finds their way to each other. Fate forces them to bond. And the journey that follows is filled with angst, emotion and adventure.

I absolutely adored the heroine. There were so many moments where my heart broke for her. And I’m so glad she got a wonderful man like Eric the tempered who cherished her and stood beside her when she wrote hist

This was a fabulous story. Unlike the previous book, the heroine in this was amazing. This book feels more in line with the prequel book Sven the Collector. Book one Hollen the Soulless would have been great except for the heroine was just so TSTL and just rejected the poor hero Hollen throughout the book. He deserved so much better. This book however, had great characters, great development and a great love story. I can’t wait till the next comes out! ...more

I was captivated with the original idea of the Dokiri Brides and with Denali Day's intriguing writing right from the first short prequel which I read, the first book left me wanting to read more and this, the 2nd book though different to the first is just as mesmerising. Erik the Tempered, was a good and noble man who was in the lowlands seeking a bride, as was the way of the Na Dokiri who dwelt on the mountain, serving as sentinels against the evil which would have taken over the lowlands. Tysh ...more

I read the book within a day and a half. The story is sweeping from beginning to end. It has adventures, romance, character developments and a lot of emotion. I really liked the characters. Eric was a real prince! A tormented and noble-minded hero ( beside his looks ) And Tysha matched him like a glove .
A brave woman with a free spirit and inner strength and at the same time sensitive and so human and real . Her character underwent an amazing d

I wondered how Denali Day could top Hollen the Soulless, the first and rather epic installment of her Dokiri Brides series, and boy, I wasn't disappointed!
I just LOVE it when an author writes within the same trope, and delivers something completely unique! I not see the twists and turns coming, and Denali has certainly earned my five solid stars given the swoonworthy romance between Erik and Tysha.

The writing and editing in the ARC version of the manuscript was clean and lyrical, with no typos that I found and beautifully constructed sentences. The world building in this novel was even better than that in the first novel in this series, with the mountains, under dwellers, and other Dokiri tribes coming to vivid life. The characterization was excellent, with both hero and heroine being complex, sympathetic individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relations ...more

I've started this review over several times, nothing seems to come out right when I try to get my thoughts out on this computer keyboard.

Erik and Tysha aren't your average love story (but then again, Denali manages to make all her couples unique and exciting). I won't rehash the story because you can read the book for that, also other reviewers have given a plot summary, but I want to tell you how I felt about the characters.

I love the Dokiri and their brides. The world Denali Day has created is interesting, at times brutal, at times kind and caring, but always just a subtle amount of steam. Eric rescues a woman from a pack of wolves and angry men and she ends up saving his life. Tysha is running from her abusive husband that just tried to sell her to a whorehouse to pay off his gambling debts, when Eric comes to her rescue and is wounded. She gets him on his gegatu, climbs on, and hope it knows the way home. Once t ...more

This is the third Denali Day book I’ve read, and I have to say that Tysha is my favorite lead so far! I really enjoyed how Tysha was just so down to earth, and even calm in a way. She didn’t skirt around issues; she faced them head-on. In fact I think Tysha brought out these same qualities in Erik as well.

There’s more good things I want to say, but it’s hard without giving anything away! This was such an easy book to enjoy; I read it in about three days. If you love romance with a touch of fanta

What an incredible series this is turning out to be! I loved the prequel and Hollen, but Ms. Day has really hit her stride with Erik the Tempered. The story starts out rather bleak for our heroine, but boy does she find her courage in a big way! As with the previous books, the world building is excellent and the intensifying chemistry between the H and h was handled beautifully ❤️ Some big surprises revealed in this novel, and a very interesting plot twist! 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Stars

“Her rational mind warned that her situation was dire no matter which direction she went. A life of bondage one way. A pack of hungry wolves in another. A fresh wave of chills set her trembling before an absurd thought made her go still. There was one direction men and wolves could not follow.”

Writing 5 Stars - And so we meet Tysha, a unique, yet extremely likable heroine. Denali Day is an incredibly talented writer who blew me away with her (free!) prequel in the Dokiri Brides

I really enjoyed Erik and Tysha's story. Two very strong people came together. Courage is what saved the day. I like that the stories are couple based but that there's a underlying threat that has to be stopped. There was action and adventure. I loved it.

I received an ARC and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Out of the norm and definitely worth it! New twist on a "dragon" tale. Original and refreshing! Can't wait to jump into the next one!

A beautiful story of healing

When I started this book I hadn't expected it to be so dang emotional. Of course after reading Hollen the Soulless maybe that was a silly expectation. This book is amazing. The characters are so interesting and engaging that they just pull you into their story. I think what makes me love this book so much is the way Tysha and Erik grow together. Through Each other they become stronger and overcome crippling emotional issues. Tysha is just utterly amazing in her stren
This was more like a 3.5 star read for me.

Okay, so I said that I wasn't going to read the next book in this series for a while probably (or something to that effect), but that ended up being a total lie. I went into it fully prepared that there would be no steam (there was a bit more in this book than in Hollen's book), but I just really wanted to read Erik's book for some reason.

Probably because Erik is totally a beta male, and I just don't see a lot of books with beta male characters. That isn

In the first novel of this series, we learned that, historically, Dokiri abduct women for brides because only males are born. I’m not crazy about that idea, so I was please that in this second story, Ms. Day found away to get Erik his mate without abduction. Well, Erik did not consciously find a way, but it happened. This time, Tysha manages to unintentionally hitch a ride on a wyvern. Tysha may have started out the victim of her cruel husband, but she toughens up very quickly! And she will need ...more

Erik the Tempered is the second book in the Dokiri Brides series by Denali Day. Erik is the second brother and second in command to Hollen who is the eldest brother and chieftain to the Bedmeg clan. It is Erik's turn to find a bride among the lowlanders. One finds him instead! Tysha is running away from a horrible future. Her husband wants to indenture her to the whoremaster to pay his gambling debts. She ends up running into Erik while being chased by men and wolves. Erik, though, doesn't want ...more

A most wonderful book. I didn't realise that this was part of a series but I find myself most glad that it is.

It is very easy to paint tragedy with a heavy hand, but I am so glad to say Denali Day got it right. I loved how the impacts of past struggles were sometimes left as the long aches of afterthoughts, instead of the fatalistic woe–is–me trope damaged characters are so often written. I love how both the protagonists brought their own varied struggles to the table, and I love that they were

This series is getting better and better. Erik's story was much better than Hollen's. It had many twists and turns. But what I love most about this series is how the author writes about the intimacy between the couples. She does not shy away from it and it is done in a very tasteful manner. I hurt for the burden that Erik carried. No one should have to feel like they don't belong or be in doubt of who they truly are.

My only complaint with this book was the unanswered questions. I would have pre

This is the type of series that I consider an ensemble series. Each book focuses on a different couple as they go through meeting, trials, and falling in love. The danger in such a series is that each installment can feel like a repeat of the one before if they are too formulaic. It's such a lovely occurrence when an author can pull off an ensemble series and have each story feel like it is its own. This series it's consistently well written and each story is new and fresh while basically standi ...more

I absolutely LOVED this novel! I will not deny it tugged on my heart-strings with twists and turns of the plot and put me on an emotional roller coaster right up until the last page.

Erik the Tempered was a complicated man with secrets to his true heritage that was dumped on him on his father's death bed. Luckily Erik was a solid, stable man who truly loved his brothers and their Dokiri clan. As Fate would have it, Erik hears the screams of a woman who is attacked by wolves and he charges in to

I received this as an ARC, and am so glad for it! Thank you so much for allowing me to read and review Erik the Tempered. I adored this story from the first page. Both the heroine and hero are strong, compassionate and well written.

If there was something that was rough, it would be the Dokiri language thrown in periodically. I always found myself caught up on what a word meant and it drew me from the story for a second. However, I also loved that it was there.

If you liked Hollen’s story, you will LOVE Erik’s. In this installment Denali dives deeper into the world of na Dokiri. We learn of sister tribes and the mounting threat to the mountain. Not to mention the amazing love story! The dynamic between Erik and Tysha was one I wanted since I began reading his series, but didn’t know how Denali might accomplish it. Having a bride want to be a hamma, but her hamu doesn’t necessarily feel the same way. I was on the edge of my seat while Denali eloquently ...more

This is my first book by Denali Day and I liked it. I love alpha males who are very protective of her women and this story doesn't disappoint.

Erik and their brothers aren's usual men. They belong to an ancient an unusual tribe that live with different rules and laws regarding honor, love, family and life. Tysha is a young girl that hasn't had luck with love, actually she's fleeing from her evil husband and jumps into Erik somehow saving his life.

Erik is a warrior, he's brave, honorable, strong
