The Unlikely Heroes

Rate this book

Magic is real.

Most mortals are seeing it for the first time.

Some don’t deal with change very well.

There are a few mortals who have always seen the magic. Those are the ones Liv Beaufont is hunting down. They are potentially one of the Mortal Seven.

Kayla Sinclair is also on the hunt. But she’s aiming to kill.

It’s a race to find the Mortal Seven before they are murdered. And meanwhile, there’s another crime that needs Liv’s attention.

Someone wants Father Time dead and they’ll do anything to draw him out of hiding.

This series gets better with every book. Tasked with finding not only the Mortal Severn but also with rescuing Farther Time’s hourglass from the magician pirates that have captured it, while still trying to protect Sofia and her egg, carry out tasks for the council, and work out who is trying to stop the formation of the House of Fourteen! The action, adventure, magic and humour is excellent, and I loved that she is trying to act as a matchmaker for Rory as well. The writing, plots, characters and excitement in this series is first class and each book leaves you dying for the next one.

Me encanta leer las aventuras de Liv Beaufont, es como ver una serie.
Me encantan los personajes, los diálogos y las situaciones ridículas.
De verdad lo paso chancho.

Lo mejor de este libro: el Capitán Rudolf y John.

Wild and Meaningful

Yep, that’s an odd way to describe this book, but it’s true. I love Liv with her snarky and punny attitude. She is pure gold. And the rest of the cast of characters are just as wonderful, many of them as quirky as Liv herself. Meanwhile, Liv is on a serious mission to help the world, really, by finding those who will help balance those with magic and the humans. She sometimes stumbles, but does her utmost to get the job done. I cannot wait to dive into the next book!

Loving this series

What a great story, well written, easy to read and holds your attention the whole way through as alway.

With Liv taking on more responsibilities with the Mortal 7 and Sophia and her dragon egg growing up the dynamic between the characters is changing, but in a good way with Luv always still focused on doing the right thing.

A great feel good book to take you away for a few hours of adventure and fun. Loved it.

Another delightful adventure!

Liv is back in the thick of it. Having identified John as one of the Mortal Seven, she must introduce him to the House. In the meantime she has to recover Father Time's hourglass and find a place for Sophia's Dragon egg. Then on to finding another member of the Mortal Seven. Time is of the essence as someone is killing possible members. A new adventure awaits on every page.

The more, the merrier!

Liv is determined to find the Mortal Seven and is succeeding. We are swept up in her quest to right a great wrong, laughing at her snarky humour and applauding her for fighting for good. I’m loving the journey, and cannot wait for the next book. Who is the next Mortal Seven to be found???

Love Liv Beaufort

Such a great story. Full of excitement, laughs, silliness, adventure, and danger. Still fighting the good fight and hurting the enemy. Egypt will the future hold?

Well this has picked up again/. Loving the fact that Liz is getting to find the 7 mortals and now we have 2. The dragon is great and I can't wait until he hatches. Every character is fun and the story line is coming together nicely.

Liv is still being kept busy. Between trying to find the Mortal Seven, those families who had traditionally sat within the House of Fourteen, and also tracking down the thief of Papa Creola's Hourglass of all Time, Liv barely has a moment to herself.

When she had fought for, and won, the Hourglass back, with the help of her friend, King Rudolf of the Fae, she then turns to searching for the Mortal Seven, realising that they were in grave danger from an unknown enemy who seemed determined to kill them all.

But, as she does her best to find the Mortal Seven, she finds one of the families gathered together, at the funeral of siblings killed a few days previously, and Liv realises that she needs to be quicker in her search.

As she finds the family, they are already under attack, and it's then that Liv is confronted by the one who is trying to kill them all. While it comes as no real shock, to find the culprit, Liv has to face having to kill one who was part of the House.

Liv really does have a lot on her plate, and I often feel sorry for her, being caught between her duties to the House of Fourteen, and her job as First Representative to Papa Creola.

But Liv always seems energised by her duties, and I love the way that she puts that first, despite her disagreements as to some of the Laws she disagrees with.

As this series has gone along, it's become dearer to me, as I've totally fallen in love with the characters, and their various situations. I'm really hoping that the other Beaufont series are just as riveting as this one is for me, because it's been wonderful to read.

Talking of reading, it's now time for me to go on to book eleven: The Creative Strategist. I'm looking forward to reading this, too, so I'll be off now, and I'll see you on the flip side!

The god Magician has ordered his descendent Kayla Sinclair to find the Seven Mortal families and kill all the possible candidates for the House of fourteen before Liv can find them. She is an awful person.

King Rudolph is so nutty and gullible it’s almost unbelievable. How is his kingdom supposed to survive with management like his. But he’s got a good heart for his friends. I’d feel sorry for Liv, but she’s getting some of her own back with her silly puns.

I love the ship battle and that Bermuda seems to be softening a tiny bit toward Liv.

Footnote: 1) I wish we had portals. They’d be so much faster and safer than cars, we’d save a lot of time.

Fave scenes: Pickles entering the Chamber of Three, Rory’s new backyard oasis, Liv and Kayla’s fight and Liv at the pastry shop.

This new villain isn't as exciting as the old villain because she's 1 dimensional whereas the old one was not. He had intriguing complexities. Also, the overarching antagonist is also still 1 dimensional despite this series nearing its end.

Everyone else is still amazing and entertaining, and the conflicts for each book still bring humor, action, and intrigue. However, having underdeveloped antagonists really dampens the storyline for me. There are also some minor frustrations- instances that either don't make sense or seem forced. Like how Liv doesn't take the unknown darkness in the chamber more seriously, or how she handles some interactions with humans almost carelessly. I still liked this book more than I disliked it.

Liv has a knack for thwarting bad guys. The black void is growing and she can't figure out why. Father Time suggests/implies it's all connected and that she needs to find the mastermind. She just has to defeat whoever is targeting the mortal seven before they are killed. No pressure. Oh and change the laws in the House of Fourteen, find Rory a girlfriend and iron out negotiations with the elves. Simple!

Loved it!

I just love when Rudolph gets involved in any of Liv's adventures! His help and his conversation just make everything so much better! Liv has so many friends to turn to and the brownies are showing up for her in spades! Will Liv find another Mortal seven before her enemies kill off the entire family? Jump into this adventure and find out that and so much more!

Wow

Once again I got swept up in Liv's story. A lot happens in The Unlikely Heros setting up what I am sure is going to be an excellent conclusion to this part of Liv's story. I can't to see what happens next! I hope you enjoy the series as much as I am. Quick reminder, read the author's notes.

Kyra is doing Talon's bidding, but Liv has a lot of friends, she is much more confident in herself as well and no matter the obstacles, she can with the help of her friends deal with them, not that the council are that helpful, but many on it are now backing her openly and Liv is getting closer to achieving her goals of unifiying all the races.

She is unstoppable.

At least that's how she comes across. I enjoy reading about her, most of the characters are great. You always have to have a few bad guys, villains in the mix, don't you? Now to set where the story goes next.

So Liv is searching for members of the immortal 7, while the evil one is trying to find Papa Time to kill him.
Plenty of laughs as usual as Liv continues to grow in experience. And she'll need it
