With the rising tide of steam power and machinery, who can come close to being a Beyonder? Shrouded in the fog of history and darkness, who or what is the lurking evil that murmurs into our ears?
Waking up to be faced with a string of mysteries, Zhou Mingrui finds himself reincarnated as Klein Moretti in an alternate Victorian era world where he sees a world filled with machinery, cannons, dreadnoughts, airships, difference machines, as well as Potions, Divination, Hexes, Tarot Cards, Sealed Artifacts…
The Light continues to shine but mystery has never gone far. Follow Klein as he finds himself entangled with the Churches of the world—both orthodox and unorthodox—while he slowly develops newfound powers thanks to the Beyonder potions.
Like the corresponding tarot card, The Fool, which is numbered 0—a number of unlimited potential—this is the legend of “The Fool”.
“It's still not enough...Then let's make it a little more chaotic...."
HOLY FVCCKKKKK!!!!!
no, i have to pick up the next volume right away BECAUSE THAT ENDING FREAKING KILLED ME WITH THAT CLIFFHANGER!!!!!!
everything is so chaotic, and that is part of klein's plan in order to have a chance to complete his goal. he can't defeat every single one of his powerful enemies, but since his enemies are also enemies with each other, full on chaos is really necessary. in that case, the attention wouldn't be just on him. it's a multiple-way battle. but of course not everything would go according to his plan. and the most terrifying thing is BOTH FREAKING ADAM AND AMON ARE ABLE TO LOCATE HIM!!! i think i had a mini heart attack with the last part of the last chapter when amon in his monocle suddenly appear. and it's not just his avatar, it's his real body!!!!! and the scary part is it happened when klein thought he already escaped!! he already lowered his guard down!!! his triple concealment is not enough!!!
my heart is still racing while writing this review and i'm ending this now because i would really love to pick the next volume up right now. but this volume? EPIC!!!
WHAT CAN ONE SAY ABOUT AN EPIC BOOK THAT OUTCLASSES ALL OTHERS. IF THERE IS A RATING FOR BEYOND EXCELLENT, THIS BOOK HAS THAT. IT SITS ON THE SHELVE WITH 'THE NAME OF THE WIND' PATRICK ROTHFUSS IN WORLD CREATION. WITH 'WAY OF KINGS' BRANDON SANDERSON IN EXPANSIVENESS AND MAGIC. I CAN GO ON AND ON AND ON. JUST GO AND READ THIS BOOK AND YOU WILL BE ENRAPTURED.
Damn, every time I finish a volume, I’m left thinking, ‘how does it keep getting better?’. Vol. 5 totally delivers—raising the stakes, expanding the world, and diving even deeper into the characters. Secret organizations and hidden truths pull you further into the web of intrigue. This one had me on the edge of my seat. Usually, Klein’s wits and schemes keep him one step ahead, but this time… his enemies actually outsmart him. And that ending! Now, every time I see a monocle, I’ll be traumatized right alongside Klein 😰🧐. I can’t wait to read the next vol.
I’ve read at least a few hundred books and this is my absolute number one favorite. It starts somewhat slow but rapidly improves volume to volume. The magic system is awesome and the world building is fantastic. The author slowly releases more and more secrets as the story goes on in a wonderful way. Please try this.
Brilliant world building. Decent and reasonable character growth. Ingenious magic system. Specific words and titles (eg. lord of the mysteries, the fool, etc.,) have deep foreshadowing and meaning. The real lord of mysteries.
“Can you accept such an outcome?”
Another great one. It truly deserve the hype. AND the official recognition by the Chinese Literature. Hated the cliffending, but holy f*ck, what a explendid end
Another thrilling addition to this story. When I look back at where things started and where we are now, I have to tip my hat to the author. The power levels of the characters and depth and complexity of the mysteries explored are both high. The skill it takes to slowly build this up over thousands of pages, both keeping things interesting without contradicting oneself, must be massive. Well done.
Arguably the second or third best volume has amazing moments and one of the craziest but engaging plots in the story. Kleins identity from volume 3 makes a return and it’s just amazing, the finale is unforgettable.
There is no reason to write a post for each "volume" as I have read the whole thing as one book anyway and even the chapter separation is kind of weird, probably because of the serialized nature of the release. Well, I have good news and bad news. Good news is that I've finished this humongous novel. Bad news is that there is a sequel!! :D
The increase in level of the main protagonist goes on. Not only does he do it faster and easier - in terms of pages dedicated to the difficulty - but so do all of his friends. But there is a catch, of course. First of all the most scary antagonist by far: God of Deceit Amon. Second of all, of course there are levels above sequence 0. And I apologize if me telling you that made you instantly go insane, it's your own fault for not raising to a sufficiently high Beyonder level.
You see, not only are there gods in the world, but also gods from outside the world, encroaching in. There are some really complicated rules being applied and the final epic battle is truly epic, so I will leave it at that: I finished Lord of Mysteries and I liked it.
The second book, Circle of Inevitability, closes the story completely and also is half of the first book in terms of size. I wonder if I should be masochistic enough to start reading it as well...
This volume was INTENSE. Forget slow build-up—this one’s packed with action, goosebumps, and moments that made me feel like a proud parent watching Klein grow (??? even though I’ve never been one 🤣). When he advanced to Scholar of Yore, I was just sitting there like: my boy… look at you… sniff sniff.
Also, I take back every time I said “I want Amon.” No. Nope. Never again. That fight with Klein was pure nightmare fuel. This guy is scary in ways I didn’t even imagine, pulling unexpected moves like—please, PLEASE, just stop appearing. Honestly, I’m terrified and so not ready for the next volume 😭.
My favorite part though? When Mr. World, Mr. Star, and Miss Justice explored Groselle’s Travels. The castle that projects inner thoughts… PLEASE. I was laughing so hard my sister thought I’d lost it. Miss Audrey finally seeing Mr. World’s “other side”—HAAHAHAHA priceless.
The Giant King’s Court expedition had me shaking. Ancient, eerie, and epic—it’s everything I love, and I can’t wait for more expeditions. And Little Sun?? Adorable. (p/s: he’s my favorite Tarot Club member, don’t @ me.) Bread mushrooms lover, chugging milk for growth—sir, how much taller do you need to be, Derrick?? He’s the cutest.
No tears shed in this volume—only pride, fear, and goosebumps. Straight into Volume 6 I go, because I have to make sure Klein survives Amon’s hands.
I have to take 2 stars out at this point because of the repetitive use of words and sentences to the point of irritation up to this point of the story. Does the author not know what synonyms are? I lampoon at your overuse of words like 'Lampoon' and phrases like 'none other than' to exhaustion, showing up in 5-6 page long chapters over 3 times. Please use synonyms or better yet don't use them at all. Describing characters over and over again without having emotional weight added to that very description is just pointless padding. This volume could have easily been 15-20 chapters shorter without this very type of padding. Amon taking out a monocle at the end of the volume is a perfect example of this, given his standing and this particular character trait, it induces fear in the ML and is properly translated to the reader through this description. Amon seems increasingly turning out to be the main villain of Part 1 of this story and I have mixed feelings about it. Amon is definitely a Cowardly Villain Type, that means there's an increased chance of him running away at the end of the final fight giving us a sad-ass ending to this 1300+ chapter Epic, IMO.
This story and this genre of progression fantasy in general has a great way of making it never feel like the story isn't progressing or the main character isn't moving forward, but if someone said they felt this volume meandered too much and didn't feel like it progressed, i wouldn't have much to argue against them with.
There aren't really many standout moments in this volume other than its ending, but the day-to-day is still better than volumes 1 and 2 with how much more exciting the action is by this point in the story.
The ending to this volume is one of the most action packed and exciting, but the power system has become so complex it is very difficult to follow. it really does feel at times you need a degree in the power system at times.
And then there's the ending to the ending, oh boy, this was such a good volume, but it's just nothing's really memorable until the end of the volume.
That could also just be LOTM fatigue, i have a feeling that maybe this is one of the best volumes in a vacuum, but coming after 3 and 4, a lot of the exciting moments here don't feel new enough.
Coitado do meu bebê! Agora vamos pro próximo vol ver aonde isso vai dar.
The amount of stress this volume especially the latter parts has given me is enough to end my life. I'm literally smoking while absorbing everything that's happening! I'm so?!?!?!
I want to say that this volume is absolutely amazing with a lot of details getting divulged, much bigger than the previous ones and the situations getting introduced are stupendous! I don't even know what to think about first! The current war, the problems, the Kings of Angels, the innocent people, and AAA I don't know! And a lot of demigods, angels, basically bigshots are appearing one by one. And the last chapter?!?! Adam and Amon! Holy.... (I just thought of the multiple Gods on the book but I don't want to swear on one particular LOL). Anyway, my blood is rushing and I want to jump to Lightseeker as of right now! I can't think of anything else what that chapter!
I don’t even know what to review about this web novel because there are just too many chapters, and the details are overwhelming. The pacing is incredibly slow, yet I don’t hate it at all. The author is undeniably brilliant in crafting this masterpiece, presenting the story not only from Klein’s perspective but also from other characters'.
The level of detail is amazing—so much so that readers can clearly imagine every movement and expression, especially in fight scenes and battles. The author truly excels in bringing these moments to life.
However, the biggest drawback is that the story is too detailed, with an overwhelming number of terms—sequence ranks, artifacts, and so on. This means you have to stay completely focused while reading. That’s why it took me so long to finish, I needed extra concentration just to fully grasp what was happening.

We've hit the big leagues when it comes to beyonders as every power is extremely complicated and SUPERRR broken now. This volume feels like a lot of buildup and a lot of that buildup is great the payoffs are to be seen still. George III's ritual was fun thought it felt really fast without much time to digest all what the hell happened. This volume also contains my favorite chapter in lotm so far 1071 the hall of truth which is very fun. Overall this was a good volume but didnt feel like it had as much of a payoff as the last volume did.

It honestly is one of my ALL TIME favorites, the way the story's written is so good, with information on the world being revealed slowly bit by bit to get the most of revealing important and interesting facts. I binge read all eight volumes within a month and a bit and after I finished I was at a loss of what to do after because it just became a part of who I was. 10/10 would read again, and I cannot recommend this book enough!!
I already read this twice but it still gives me pleasure and satisfaction. This book is so good especially the world building and magic system. Although it has a slow pace in the first volume it will gradually speed up and be more interesting. Good luck reading!
The more you know the more you will be corrupted 🧐
Hooooly shit I loved this so much I did feel like the scholar of yore abilities were a bit underwhelming at first but as Klien grows stronger I think they’ll become overpowered The last chapter was suuuuuch a big cliffhanger I was so shocked Do feel a bit bad for Klien poor man had to go through allat and then face Amon 💔💔💔💔 So fun so fun

As good as before, essentially all of the Klein's POVs are peak, the thing is here we got a lot of the other POVs, they were a bit boring sometimes, but they weren't that long so it didn't change much. In this vol we got a few of the best moments ... "Can i accept this outcome?"
