This book has taken my heart and run off with it. So many emotional layers in it.
The story is very realistic, it's emotional and fast paced.
I enjoyed getting to know the teen in the story, he's definitely realistic.
A woman unsure of God's path for her is floundering especially after an unexpected occurrence.
Her mother is such an understanding and compassionate person, someone you could see becoming friends with.
Her faith is unfaltering a

“When love is real, you’ll answer the call no matter the cost.”

4 stars:

Call to Love by Mary Felkins was a sweet, uplifting story about a fiercely independent nurse and a stoic police officer and their journey to finding love. Both Tracy and Tom, our main characters, have hardened their hearts to love in an effort to protect their hearts from being broken again. When Tom is contracted by Tracy to assist with some projects around her house, the two can’t deny the easy chemistry between the two

Did you ever come across a book where you knew the ending just a few pages in, yet still wanted to see how the story unfolded?

That was the intrigue of the thoroughly Christian romance Call to Love penned by first time author Mary A. Felkins. I listened to the audio version as company during a three state visit over the weekend, so I felt the power of Felkins’ words through the narration of Trenton Bennett.

The love story captured my attention {of course, while paying attention to the road at all

Talk about an emotional roller coaster! Call To Love had me smiling one minute, holding my breath the next, and reaching for tissues the next! The good and the the bad, it certainly had all the feels.

In Call To Love, we meet ER nurse Tracy and police officer Tom. We learn very early on that Tracy is expecting... with a man that she has no desire to marry. In fact, she has made a promise to herself to never to fall in love and marry, wanting to spare herself the loss that she had experienced whe

First of all I think for as debut author Mary Felkins did an excellent job. You can tell that she put her heart into the story and did a lot of research for it.

The story of Tracy and Tom was heartfelt and emotional. Tom and Tracy are both trying to overcome deep hurts and mistakes they have made in their past. They have both sworn off any romantic relationships and are both running away from the fact that God is trying to show them that they need to cry out and let go of those hurts to truly b

Felkin's debut romance had me cheering for Tracy and Tom to start a family of faith. Tracy, a slain officer's daughter, and Tom, a scorned officer, are flawed people looking for a perfect life, but not looking to God for the answer. An unplanned pregnancy leaves Tracy a single mom balancing work in the ER and her mixed-up love life. Tom and his teen son Stephen (who I adored as a character) relocate from Texas to start a new life. Tom holds onto the bitterness of his ex-wife's betrayal and doesn ...more
I found myself torn with Call to Love. This is Mary A. Felkins debut novel so I tried not to be too hard with my assessment, but there were some issues with this story that I couldn't get past.

My heart went out to both Tracy and Tom, and the situations they both find themselves in. Their development throughout the novel was commendable, but the pace of the entire book felt off. I honestly think this story would've been better as a short story, as it all felt drawn out, but it definitely was true

In this contemporary romance, we’re introduced to Tracy Cassidy, an ER nurse facing life-changing decisions. Unwed and pregnant, should she hope for the promotion at the local hospital or accept a new job opportunity in another town? Should she marry the father of her baby or stay true to her belief that she needs to do life on her own? And what about the ministry for women in crisis that she helps run with her mother? It’s struggling financially and could still use her help.

I started to pick this book up and realized I had already read it and forgot to leave a review so here goes!
I hope to do this book justice because it was so heartwarming, touching and all the above makes you feel good things after you read a book like this!
Second chances at love? The main character Tracy isn't too sure about that one!
A lot of things stand in her way but only because she allowed it to! I just love her mom! I wished I had a mom like that!

One of the elements that stuck out most to me in this book was the thread of faith. I appreciated the fact that the characters didn't shy away from it and were willing to pray in any situation. You can't beat a book that has this thread all the way through.

I like the character of Tracy because she's a strong, independent woman who wants to live life by her own rules, especially now that she's expecting a baby. It was also understandable that she didn't want any kind of relationship with a police

What if, when we tell God the one thing we do not want or will not do, He takes it as a dare—and that’s exactly the one thing He asks of us.
Well, maybe not. But it sure feels like it sometimes.
That’s just what happened to Tracy Cassidy. Growing up with a father cop—and a brother who followed in his footsteps—Tracy knew more than she wanted to about the profession. Especially the killed in the line of duty bit. And she vowed to never let that happen to her like it did to her mom.
Such promises, th

What an emotional journey this story took me on! I enjoyed the thorough development of these characters and the attention to detail regarding their jobs in both law enforcement and emergency room nursing.

Tracy and Tom were captivating characters. They felt so real to me and their emotional struggles impacted them both a lot. Just when it would seem that one or both of them had a good handle on their past issues, something would occur to make them question themselves and whether a relationship to

I really felt like this book was more of a 3.5 star review, but since it is a debut with a lot of potential- I rounded up :) I enjoyed the themes of finding God and then finding true love. I enjoyed that the heroine was a nurse as I am a seasoned nurse myself. I felt that the beginning set the scene really well to try and immerse yourself into the experience. Where I felt it lacked was that it seemed that some of the sub-characters were just a bit too preachy, and the book seemed choppy in overa ...more

This debut novel written by Mary Felkins features two main characters whose past experiences have shut them off from certain relationships—to the point it seems impossible anything can work between them.

There is a lot happening throughout Call to Love that keeps the story interesting but at times, the descriptive phrases and “cop talk” are a little much, tending to bog the pace down here and there.

However, as a first book from Felkins, the character development is superb and the way the supporti

Call to Love is Mary A Felkins's debut novel. For the most part I felt she did a good job of keeping the plot moving forward, however there were places that the pace needed to slow down to allow the reader to dig deeper into the setting. Taking into consideration that I'm having a harder time than normal getting into books right now while under quarantine, I never felt fully sucked into this one. There were parts that were just hard to follow and when you are already having a hard time focusing, ...more

A great rainy day read :)
I enjoyed this debut novel by Mary A. Felkins. I thought that both Tracey and Tom were well-rounded characters and I liked getting to know their individual stories. Both characters had some real-life applicable struggles and I liked how Mary A. Felkins had the characters overcome them.
The plot was good and kept me interested and engaged throughout the whole book. I thought that there were some interesting points made and some quotable moments 😊. The faith of the charac

I loved the flow of this book and how the story came to a fulfilling end! Tracy, an ER nurse, being hurt by love lost, pregnant and regretting her relationship with the baby's father, lives her life independent of family or God. Tom, a cop and a single dad, resentful of the ex-wife for finding passion with fellow officer, has no room to trust God for answers. Hopefully, with the help of believing family and friends, find their way (separately and together) learn to trust God and trust each other ...more

Mary A Felkins' book CALL TO LOVE is absotively posolutely precious. I loved it! This story about mistakes and redemption and forgiveness and opening up to love is one that should be read by everyone. It took me a while from the time I bought CALL TO LOVE to the time I actually read it. I don't know why. Sometimes I just purchase a book that I am excited to read and I allow it to languish on my "to be read" shelf for an extended period of time. I have a number of others on that shelf, a number o ...more

This was a decent debut novel. I think the author did a good job moving the story along. I just couldn’t get into the story, which after trying to skip ahead I ended up not finishing the book. Tracy’s character to me was just really unlikable. Maybe this book just wasn’t for me.

I was given a complimentary copy of this ebook from the author, but was not required to write a review. The thoughts and comments are my own.

This story has good bones and is a fine debut. The characters become real through their struggles, dialogues, and connections with one another. One of my favorite things about the book was the growth that Tom and Tracy, the main characters, experience in their individual lives. I enjoyed that they were important to one another, but they didn't necessarily change to please the other. They were two people being pursued by a divine love and this book really did a great job of capturing that.

For lovers of fast paced contemporary romance.

A beautiful story of redemption and restoration with a sweet dose of romance. Intriguing story with beautiful characters.
Debut novel of this author and a wonderful one at that. The story portrayed characters trying to make sense of the situations around them and opening up their hearts to second chances and new starts.
Recommended to anyone who loves a good story.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

This book was pretty good for a debute novel. The character arcs were pretty spot on, and I enjoyed watching as the characters faced trials and had to learn and grow to overcome them. For my friends who are lovers of romances, this may be a five star read for you -- for my personal tastes, it just . . . wasn't.

Don't get me wrong -- it was perfectly clean. I wanted to keep reading to figure out what would happen next, so it was engaging. The aspect of an ER nurse and a cop was interesting -- I m

Fans of contemporary Christian romance will be delighted with “Call to Love”, the debut novel by Mary Felkins. The well-crafted plot quickly draws readers into the lives of Tracy Cassidy, RN, Tom Delaney, police officer, and their extended families and friends.

Both Tracy and Tom are Christians who have previously experienced devastating personal pain & loss. Those experiences strained their faith in God & others. Neither of them believe they can depend on anyone else.

In her debut novel, Call to Love, author Mary Felkins has created an inspiring story with a well-crafted storyline filled with plot twists which keep the reader turning pages to discover what will happen next. The main characters are Tracy Cassidy, an ER nurse and Tom DeLaney, a police officer, whose careers have always been about responding to calls. When they meet coincidentally in the hospital, their lives become inextricably interwoven as each realizes there is a higher call for both of them ...more

Learning to trust in God and love:
Tracy is determined she's leaving town and never going to marry. She especially would never consider getting involved with a police officer which is a problem for Tom as he is a cop. Both are stubborn and have closed off their hearts to love and much personal growth is needed before these two can find a happily-ever-after. Personally I found Tracy's adamancy not to marry because "death might prematurely part a couple" rather ridiculous and annoying. Tom also has

Call to Love by Mary A. Felkins is the author’s debut novel. And although I liked the premise of two imperfect and broken people finding each other and helping each other to heal, this story fell a bit short for me.
I felt like it took me half of the story to feel like I was comfortable with all the characters and their situations. But once the action started in the second half of the book, I found myself flipping the pages faster to see how it all would end!
I enjoyed Stephen and Cate’s character

I just finished listening to audio book Call to Love by Mary A. Felkins and wow!!! It was narrated by Trenton Bennett and his voice was dreamy. It was so soothing listening to him tell the story of Tracy and Tom. Both have been hurt by love before and both are afraid to take chances. Both call on God during their tough times and I really liked that. Tracy is an ER nurse whose family was greatly affected by the death of her police officer father.
