First Rule of the Coven: Never Break Another Witch’s Spell.
Dramadoon is a kingdom ruled by ancient lore and magic. For centuries every Spellbreaker’s life was forfeit to the covens who feared them. None survived. Until now. Hunted by mythical beasts, scorned by the witch who raised her, and abhorred by other covens, Iris Valka must claim her powers before it’s too late. Her life, and that of her twin sister, Emma’s, is at stake.
Emma is a huntress. Strong-willed and brazen, all she desires is to protect her sister from harm. Huntress turned prey, she must use everything she’s learned to survive.
Liam and Micah have been cursed for centuries. Forced to do the bidding of the one who trapped them. But when Liam and Micah are sent to track the Valka sisters, they resist the command to kill.
Only a spellbreaker can set them free.
Set in the same world as the Broken Prophecies Series, this epic fairy tale retelling will have you reading through the night.

This had all the makings of a great story. A few reasons it fell flat for me: while nonstop action isn’t a bad thing, this story moved so quickly that it was hard to follow. It switched POV from sister to sister too frequently. It seemed that many things were repetitive. Also, I wish that editing errors didn’t detract from a story, but they do for me. There were countless errors in this book. All in all it was a quick interesting read at least.

I have to preface this review with a little fact; I love supporting indie authors. Or any authors, for that matter. Words mean immensely more to me than I could probably ever express, which is frustrating. So when I go to conventions I like to find an author that I haven't read before and purchase a book or two. Sometimes I am blown away, other times I'm not impressed.

Well, this is a time that I am impressed. S.A. McClure deserves to be a household name in fantasy. She writes strong, well-developed characters and her writing style is beautiful! So often when I read indie authors they try to hard to have a distinct voice, which really just makes them sound amateur. They try to cram in too many details or develop worlds that are too elaborate and can't be followed by the reader. McClure is an artist and has created a fascinating world with brilliant characters. She weaves a tale of magic and mystery, love (but not so much you want to gag) and lore. That's no easy feat, let me tell you. And, having met her in person, I can also say that she is a kind and warm individual. Bravo, and can't wait to read the other story of hers that I picked up!

This author is very gifted at crafting characters and scenes you can really visualize in your mind. The story is fast-paced and detailed so it is a book that you have to pay attention to closely - which is my preference in reading.

Again - as in her other books - SA McClure consistently delivers on complex and strong female characters who drive their own story arcs which is something often absent in this genre (and most genres if we are being honest).

It was good. Good storyline, amazing characters. Only giving it four stars because there were so many spelling errors, missing letters, missing WORDS. even a double sentence. While those might be minor things, it’s hard to get a context of what’s going on if there are words missing in the story.

Moves quickly which I like. Doesn't lull into a whole lot of back story. Great action.

I love the fantasy land that the author has created. The story is fast pace but left me wanting to know more about the sisters.

2.5ish ⭐️. Magicless witch sisters Emma and Iris were abandoned as children and raised by a cruel, fickle witch they refer to as grandmother Rel. This is told in dual POV from the girls’ perspectives. Everything moved so fast and was so extreme, it felt kind of juvenile and lacked the shading and nuance of a great story, despite having good bones underneath.

I wasn't too impressed with the story itself. I feel like it would have been better if it was one person instead of switching back between the 2 sisters.

I will read book 2 because i'd like to know how it ends. That's my great flaw in life.
