I found the terminology somewhat useful. But at the end I only feel sorry for anyone who has to take a test that uses this book as its official training material.

As the only official textbook of the ISTQB-BCS Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate, the fourth edition presents overall exemplary content of the fundamental steps of software testing and how a practitioner could be most effective with testing. It is contemporary with the current syllabus content, standards and example test questions. The provision is an all-inclusive technique with sufficing self-assessment exercises, guidance notes to fulfil the syllabus contents and sample examination inquiries to testers to excel in their first attempt.

The book gives an invigorating analysis of the significance of conducting effective software testing as it is not written as a mere examination aid but also as a reference manual for software testing for the use of practitioners in the development methodology of software testing. The book covers all the sections of the latest CTFL syllabus, giving more direct and clear precepts to software testing actualisation. The exercises and examples presented reflect current technology and applications, which is ideal for foundational testers with little experience of software testing. The knowledge presented remains enough to bolster their understanding of industry-recognised strategies and theory.

Overall, it is a vital book. BCS has published a book from experienced BCS examiners to be recommended for giving an expansive introduction to the whole discipline of software testing. The book is well up-to-date, pleasingly composed and an absorbing read. The book will speak to readers who look for a superior software foundational guide. It is highly recommended, for all students and practitioners with a frank interest in software testing. It is an exemplary place to start effective software testing!
