Lord Jason Glazebrook has no plans to settle down. He will not inherit for several years, and worse, he is at odds with his brother, Charles, Duke of Shewsbury, who believes him capable of a dangerous, dishonorable act.
To escape the tension at home, Jason spends many hours at his club, the Lyon’s Den in Whitehall. When the unscrupulous matchmaker, Mrs. Bessie Dove-Lyon introduces him to a debutante, Miss Beverly Crabtree, Jason considers the beautiful young lady perfect for a dalliance, and invites her to ride with him in Hyde Park.
When he discovers Beverly is a gently reared girl, he is determined not to see her again. But he cannot forget her and allows Dove-Lyon to draw him back into her net.
Despite his brother’s warning, Jason refuses to relinquish the lovely Miss Crabtree’s company. He senses she is in trouble and wants to help. And much more. He has never met a woman he wanted for his own…until he met Beverly.
But so much stands in their way.
It is only a matter of time before shame and disgrace befall the Crabtree family. While her worried mother seeks a wealthy suitor for her, Beverly tries to deny her feelings for Jason. The noble Shewsburys will never accept her as his wife.
Jason’s plan may be a possible way out of her troubles. With few options left to her, and the lure of spending days in his company, Beverly is determined to take the chance.
Their journey into the countryside to mend a family rift might bring closure, or it could go horribly wrong.

More from the Lyons Den , Mrs Dove-Lyon is a Matchmaker as well as running her club.
She introduces Lord Jason Glazebrook to Lady Beverly in the hopes the two will click , and click they do , but all is not well .
Many challenges face the lovestruck couple and the biggest would be Jason’s brother . If they can get through this they can get through anything. A wonderful book and journey .
Very enjoyable reading, really good books in this series I recommend it .
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
After reading the first book in this new connected world of the Lyon's Den I was excited to see who would be the next "victim" of the mysterious matchmaker, Mrs. Bessie Dove-Lyon. She ran the underground gaming house, THe Lyon's Den that catered to those looking for games of an unusual sort, and those willing to pay a good sum to marry well. Lord Jason Glazebrook entered The Lyon's Den expecting hoping for a distraction. Much to his surprise, Dove-Lyon called him to her ladies room to introduce her to a Miss Beverly Crabtree and her mother. He was told Beverly had wished to meet him! Matchmaking? He did think her pretty and asked her to ride with in Hyde Park later in the week. But Beverly had a secret that she hoped would stay that way because she was very attracted to Jason. Jason also had a past that had made his brother, Charles, now the Duke not trust him. I enjoyed every word of this intriguing story and adored Jason and Beverly. An unlikely match meeting the way they did, but their journey kept me entranced because I could not wait to see what happened! I highly recommend!!
Jason is still thought poorly of by Charles his brother the Duke as their relationship was strained Jason sought refuge in the Lyons Den! This is definitely an matchmaker place that is so not traditional! Mrs Lyon received a hefty fee for her services! No one is more surprised than Jason when he meets the shy beauty in a den of gamblers! Beverly has been instructed on exactly what to say to Jason to engage his interest! It's clear Beverly is uncomfortable with the deception! Determined to forget him as she doesn't want to involve him in the upcoming scandal her father is about to unleash she wants to marry but not hurt Jason! Jason does not dally with an innocent debutante plus he's too young to think of marriage! When the truth of his time at Oxford is revealed to his brother Charles, Jason realizes that he can't stop thinking about Beverly! But Mrs Lyon throws another suitor in the works.... So may the best man win? Will Beverly ever meet her estranged family and how does this result in a HEA? Could not put this one down!!!!
This is a story starts at The Lyon’s Den which is owned my Mrs. Bessie Dove-Lyon, a different kind of gambling establishment. Also Mrs. Dove-Lyon is matchmaking people who come to her. That is how Lord Jason Glazebrook met Miss Beverly Crabtree, and her mother Mrs. Crabtree. This is a good story to read about how things worked out for everyone.
Lady Dove-Lyon is presented a little differently in this book. But even so, Jason, brother of a Duke and under suspicion of a misdeed at University and Miss Beverly meet. She has a scandal if her own in the making and it alk seems hopeless ah but doesn't love find a way?
Nice novella. The younger brother to the Duke of Shrewsberry. You can already tell the Duke is the big character and this was a warm up for his story. I wish I had read this one first. Part of my reasoning is due to my OCD tendencies to do things in order but also to have background info on the next story in the series.
A young couple matched by The Lyon's Den matchmaker must overcome major obstacles and blighted reputations to be together. My first of this series, and a thoroughly enjoyable introduction to the world. Looking forward to reading more in this connected world.
I absolutely loved Jason and Beverly’s story. Her parents needed to find her a gentleman to marry as soon as possible before the scandal of her father broke out. Jason was always a stickler for rescuing creatures and people and was kicked out of Oxford when he was accused of something he did not do. But when Jason meets Beverly he just has a feeling about her and that she needed help. Such a sweet wonderful story with a beautiful ending.
Set in 1814 London and involving the Lyon’s Den, Twenty m-three year old Lord Jason Glazebrook is working on reforming his image. Beverly Crabtree has been brought to the gaming house by her mother to find a husband before a family scandal becomes public knowledge.
I’m having so much fun working my way through the Lyon’s Den Connected World. I’m also being introduced to lots of new-to-me authors. The reads are great, engaging, and just steamy enough to keep me interested. Yep, you should give them a try. I’m about 12 books in and I haven’t yet read one I didn’t enjoy.
I loved reading this one as well. I loved the characters and storyline so much. Beverly, Jason, Charles and her Mother (a piece of work) were all strong characters. This really was a good story. On to the next one. 💜💜💜💜💜
Lord Jason Glazebrook has disappointed his brother by being sent down from Oxford. When he is summoned into the private drawing room of the notorious matchmaker Mrs Dove-Lyon he knows to be on guard. He has nothing to offer on the marriage mart, and he's far too young to even think about it.
Miss Beverly Crabtree has been dragged to the matchmaker in London to find a husband before the problem facing her father becomes known. She doesn't like the idea of trapping someone.
This is a sweet historical romance with lovely characters. Our young protagonists will need help to solve their problems.
This is part of a multi author series all based around the Lyon's Den gambling house. All the ones I've read so far have been good fun.
Lord Jason Glazebrook is at odds with his brother and spends his time drinking and gaming at the Lyons Den. When he is called into the proprietress office to meet with a young lady he can’t help but be intrigued. Miss Beverly Crabtree’s mother has asked for help from Bessie Dove-Lyon who ow s the Lyons Den to find a suitable husband for her daughter. Both Beverly and Jason have secrets they are trying to hide, but are drawn to each other.
This was such a sweet story to read. Both have to trust each other to find love. There are may obstacles they will have to get through, but with the help of family and each other they can overcome.
It is truly amazing that the Lyon’s Den would have a matchmaker for the Society, owned by Mrs. Bessie Dove-Lyon, but she is known for running a strange gambling establishment, so why not. Her customers are families that come to her to avoid the season or if something is scandalous in the family. Miss Beverly Crabtree and her mother have enlisted her to help create a match with Lord Jason Glazebrook, the brother of a Duke. I loved the characters and the situations that surrounded their lives. This is a page turner and a wonderful distraction from our daily lives.
Complications Mrs. Dove-Lyon's matchmaking isn't going as smoothly this time around. Lord Jason Glazebrook is unexpectedly introduced to Miss Beverly Crabtree. Jason knows right now is not a good time for marriage, especially with a black mark in his past. Beverly feels guilty keeping her secret from Jason of why she has to marry quickly. Even though they keep telling each other goodbye their hearts don't listen. Only her grandfather and his brother can make everything right. A charming romantic love story.
It was not tantalizing. Almost predictable. Reluctant to marry but as soon as their eyes meets they are seriously in love. Barf! No! Too mushy and unrealistic. In an attempt to wrap it up from the beginning, the author out very little in to character development. The only thing I learned about the lead female was she had brown hair and big boobs. I know the lead make had blue eyes and a athletic build. Way to enthrall your reader.
I received a bit more information about the lyon's Den, this is the second in the series but information comes in bits and pieces. The book tells the story of Beverly and Jason, though young 18 to 23 they decide after meeting a few that they want there life together. There are obstacles in their path to happiness that must be overcome and we travel that journey with them.
I have been enjoying the Lyon's Den series, and was happy to discover this link to Ms. Andersen's new series. I read Never Doubt a Duke a short time ago,and look forward to her next book. For a novella the plot and the characters are so well defined you don't feel that things are rushed. Beverly and Jason are a couple who's story you can't help but enjoy.
Jason and Beverly. This was torture. The storyline was awful. He wasn't looking for or needing a wife but Bessie decided to match him up with her. Her father was about to be arrested and she needed a husband. Jason was disgraced and kicked out of Oxford so her dad didn't find him suitable. Just terrible. Lacked romance and overall boring. I'm surprised it has such a high rating.
Excellent, well written characters, with deep emotions, intelligence and complex back stories influencing their responses and reactions to each other! The plot is filled with delightfully contorted subplots, and leads the reader carefully around the various twists and turns to the ending! Well done, Ms. Andersen!
It aas well written. It was hard to put the book down, I was glued to the pages. They both had secrets they don't want to people to figured out and they have to overcome and solve them before they can marry
A delightful short story about a love that two people share but may never get their happy ending. All sorts of things conspire against Jason and Beverly but help comes in the most unexpected of places. Really enjoyable.
Everything happened quickly in this book. It felt rushed and unreal. Tthere wasn't enough interaction between the main characters to justify a friendship never mind love. The most believable characters were Miss George and Mr. Parker. This will be my last Lyon book.
Jason, the dukes brother meets Beverly at the behest of Mrs Dove-Lyon. He takes her out several times and they fall for one another. The story is excellent. Maggie Andreasen is a writer with a knack.
This was a nice enough tale but I felt like the plot was a bit underdeveloped. The characters weren't as well fleshed out as I would have liked but I did appreciate the fact that there were no graphic sex scenes to wade through.
Lord Jason Glazebrook has no intention of marrying right now but then Bessie Dove-Lyon introduces him to Beverly Crabtree and he is lost. They each have secrets which cold have an effect on their marriage to anyone. With the help of family they can find happiness with each other.
I hope this series gets better. This was a rough start. Kind of boring. I almost didn’t care to finish. I guess this starts a completely different series? I doubt I will check this out.
