Alyssa McCarthy is back in The Unruly Curse and this book picks up where the first one left off. Six months have passed, Alyssa has had zero magic and she's been adjusting pretty well into her life with her godfather. Everything is about to change though and Alyssa is about to be dealing with a lot of chaos and confusion as her magic returns thanks to a dirty curse by a being who wishes to be human again, because when he was returned to life the spell wasn't exactly complete so he can't live the ...more

This is the perfect series for younger readers. So many great characters and their adventures are both fun to read about and their personalities fit perfectly with younger kids these days.

Exciting and Fun, Magical and Vibrant. It's such a wonderful series, I loved how much more we got from this one. I can't wait to see where Prasad takes the characters next!

If Harry Potter was a girl and magic had some really bad consequences and ...

Well, actually that’s much too simplistic as Alyssa McCarthy, the young (12-13) star of Sunayna Prasad’s Alyssa McCarthy's Magical Missions is actually a pretty complex and interesting character and the first two books of this series - The Frights of Fiji (Book 1) and The Unruly Curse (Book 2) - we’re wonderfully written, imaginatively original and filled with great characters. Yes, there’s a “Big Baddie” here in

Thirteen year old Alyssa thought her magic abilities were no longer. Much to her chagrin she finds she has magic abilities again. There is one problem, she can’t control her magic abilities or know when they are going to activate. She had enchanted objects that protected her. When she finds them gone, she can’t figure out who would take them. A note mysteriously appears in her bedroom saying “Errol was here.” Who is Errol? Why are her magic abilities back? Does she have the courage and ...more

The Unruly Curse by Sunayna Prasad bring Alyssa and Errol together again under stressful circumstances. Alyssa McCarthy is immersed in magic again, just when she was enjoying the time with her godfather, Alex. Trying to keep the magic under control until they can get some answers is comical as these schemes fall through. Alyssa is has the support and encouragement from her friends and her guardian, which might make this easier. She worries she will harm those she loves.

13-year-old Alyssa McCarthy is at it again. After her first wild adventure, she had thought she would be able to live her life in peace and without magic. But then the weird things started to happen: her protection disappeared, then she suddenly develops powers that are getting her into trouble. As if that weren’t enough, she now must figure out who this skeleton named Errol is and why he seems intent on destroying her. Will she be able to solve the mystery in time before Errol reclaims his ...more

A magical story of growing and learning

This is the story of Alyssa and her life as the magical powers return and thrust themselves upon her without consideration of what she wants. Errol the skeleton seeks to become human and will use whatever is necessary to reach his goal, including forcing Allyssa to use magic and with each use he moves closer to the form that he seeks. This journey will follow Allyssa as she makes the choices that will affect the rest of her life. The characters are

Alyssa is staying with her Godfather, Alex, when she discovers her magical protections are missing. Strange events start occurring, which begin to have uncomfortable consequences. She realizes Errol has targeted her, and she may not have the power to stop him. The Unruly Curse is an enjoyable novel I recommend. I particularly liked the way Sunayna Prasad wrote about Alyssa’s mistakes and the way she handled about being treated unfairly.

Welcome back to magic.

It’s been six months since Alyssa McCarthy encountered an ounce of wizardry. How could she have done any magic? Could she be in danger again? Ever since she defeated an evil magician, she never wanted to go near the stuff again. Now she was on a mission to remove her powers.

Alyssa is your typical middle school girl going through the growing pains while also dealing with the magic she doesn’t want. There’s really not much magic happening. Alyssa spends most of her time

This is a 2nd book in the series and a great one at that! I love the wonderful magic girl and this wonderful, nonstop adventure. I love Alyssa and her adventures in magic though she tried so hard to keep magic from finding her. Excellent story that is wonderfully written and excellently engaging.
