Great book. I was introduced to the author on Coast to AM.
The story is thought provoking, meticulously researched, and so realistic, it’s frightening. Looking forward to what’s next from this author.

NOTE: I was given a copy of the ebook for an honest review.
One of the great reads of 2019. In the future the world is not that different from where we live today. Turmoil is rampart. The world is being hit with debris from the solar system but just why is it being covered up? Fast paced and cool characters. I highly recommend this book.

Asteroids: Escape from the Arcadians features a high stakes plot, and an unlikely hero who fights to save his loved ones from a terrifying natural disaster and the actions of a corrupt government. The protagonist of this book, Rick, is a highly intelligent academic who possesses a sophisticated understanding of asteroids. He also has a touchingly close relationship with his wife Courtney. Rick's relative Rob formerly worked in a similar academic role, but Rob’s dire scientific predictions were n ...more
Overall, this is an interesting, thought-provoking story with generally likable narrators. There’s a lot going on in the beginning. Readers need to pay attention if they’re going to keep all the characters straight at first. On the other hand, that’s entirely typical of stories containing an overview of events that are simultaneously going on in different places.

However, I think the book needed a bit more editing prior to publication. There were minor errors sprinkled throughout the pages. The t

A fast-paced story of America, in some future time post The Four Wars, facing the complete devastation of the world with an incoming asteroid storm. This takes us on a depressingly realistic journey of how politics and power corrupt, the moral decisions that would need to be taken and of how true human compassion and resilience will come through. The government are desperate at all costs to conceal from the general population the impending catastrophe that is heading Earths way and take drastic ...more

Asteroids: Escape from the Arcadians is a fast paced story that features an unlikely hero who fights to save his loved ones from a terrifying natural disaster and the actions of a corrupt government. Rick, unlike many sci-fi heroes, has a close emotional relationship with his wife. Rob is another character of interest with his doomsday shelter. The book almost reminded me of a cross between Independence day (with Rick being a Jeff Goldblum type character and Rob being the crazy ex-pilot who keep ...more

An exciting, fast-paced, but ultimately terrifying very near-future science fiction adventure, ASTEROIDS: ESCAPE FROM THE ARCADIANS will impel readers to watch the skies while simultaneously pondering: "What information is being withheld from us?" Readers will gain education about Space, the Solar System, and asteroids as well as discovering many instances in history of Asteroid impacts (including the mass extinction event that destroyed the dinosaurs). The writing style is smooth and the charac ...more

I received an ARC free from NetGalley for an honest review.
Terrifying yet plausible story about an asteroid storm threatening to destroy life on earth. A scientist has a theory about this happening so the government decides to kidnap him and keep everybody in the dark about what is happening. Of course, they pick and choose who will survive, but they didn't take into consideration the will to survive and protect. I really enjoyed the gamer aspect and the technology. A real humdinker of a story.

Asteroids: Escape from the Arcadians starts off slow, but the pace picks up as the reader reaches the middle of the story. The writing is crisp, but could have used a little more editing. The story focuses on a man who, along with his research, is being used as a pawn of the government as they seek to combat a series of asteroid attacks on earth. If you like doomsday and apocalyptic tales, there is plenty in the story to satisfy. I would have given the book four stars, but the pace of the story ...more

Mike McCoy hit a home run with his first novel. This political thriller depicts what could possibly happen if we allow Big Brother too much leeway. McCoy satisfies with high octane action and suspense, keeping you reading long after your bedtime. While not my usual genre, I really enjoyed this book. I look forward to what McCoy comes up with next!!!

Different from what I usually read but good start to a series hopefully coming soon. It took me a little longer to read than usually as I’ve been sick but I would sit up in bed to read it while sick that’s how it grabbed me

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a real page turner. Despite the size of the book, I finished it in just a few days because I just couldn’t put it down. The characters were well developed and kept my interest throughout. The action-packed storyline made me visualize the next block buster movie. I highly recommend this book.

Great sci-fi!

Wow! This sure had a lot. First I loved the personality in the personality showed in this book. Lots of realistic, entertaining characters. This has a lot of detailed information too - the author knows what he is talking about! Once the plot gets going it really picks up speed. Also has humor throughout too and I liked that. If you are a sci-fi fan, read this one.

IndieReader gives ASTEROIDS 4.3 STARS

ASTEROIDS: Escape from the Arcadians is an extremely immersive adventure with memorable characters, tons of high-tech flourishes, and, despite being a massive book, debut novelist Mike McCoy keeps things moving briskly.

Protagonist Rick Munday is an astrophysicist with a unique theory concerning asteroids. Unfortunately, his theories are all too true and the government is desperately trying to cover up the fact that a massive, civilization-crushing meteor sto

I liked it but not as much as it may have deserved. I respect the amount of effort and dedication and I appreciate the research that went into writing this book, but it was just far too long. I think if this book had been trimmed a good 100 pages (at least), it would have worked better for me, but unfortunately the excessive length made it difficult for me to enjoy it to the extent I would have liked. Which is a shame.

It starts off as a very slow burn, which I actually didn't mind. Esp

When I first saw this book, I was intrigued by the title and the synopsis. I immediately wanted to read it and I was not disappointed at all! It tells the story of what would happen if asteroids fell on earth. The story was told through different perspectives, such as an astronomer and his family, people of Homeland Security, the president and the government, etc. Even in one scene, the story switched back and forth between the two or more characters. I liked this a lot because you then know eve ...more

Asteroids - Bridge to Nowhere by Mike McCoy is a fast paced dystopian story of an asteroid storm predicted to hit the earth. Rick Munday is an astrophysicist who predicts the asteroid storm in a government grant submission, but, before he can communicate his prediction to the public he is kidnapped and taken to New Arcadia, a secret underground city. Rick finds there is a secret underground government movement, led by Colonel Cruikshank, to build a utopian society (Arcadia) consisting of many un ...more

I do not think people realize how corrupt our government is (it is NOT just the other side that is corrupt - it is all corrupt) and this book is realistic in the matter than those in charge (which equals those with money including CEOs like Bill Gates, Hollywood and both aisles of politicians) not us the people! This makes this book a frighteningly realistic book. While it is not super fast-paced, the action and storyline are compelling and it is so difficult to put down. I am looking forward to ...more

Terrific!! This is my first book by this author and I just loved it.
It only took a few pages to get into this story and it was so nice to read as a single decent length book that hadn't been chopped into 3 to cater to people with short attention spans!
A very believable, solid read with a well-written storyline, great characters and lots of action.
The only bad thing would be if this really happened!
I will definitely be looking for more books by this author.

This is a new author and I think he’s done a smashing job with his first novel. The blurb drew me to this book and the I was not disappointed. It’s different to most other post-apocalyptic books that I’ve read. This story held my interest throughout, and I thought the characters were well developed. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
