Carrie Schmidt (Reading is My SuperPower)
Caught By the Sheriff returns us for another visit to the delightful Turtleback Beach and catches us up with Sheriff Ryker, whom we met briefly in Almost a Bride. (Don’t worry if you haven’t read that one yet, though. It works just fine as a stand alone.) The plot in this 2nd book of the series reminded me in all the best ways of my favorite Hallmark Christmas movie – A Season for Miracles but there were still plenty of differences to make this story experience a new one for me.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Prism Book Tours. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Caught by the Sheriff by Rula Sinara is about a young woman willing to do anything to protect her sister and niece from harm.

Faye is on the run with her niece after receiving a message from her twin sister. She lands in Turtle Back Beach a charming little down with the help of a friend to lay low until she hears of her sister or until the police comes for her kidnapping. She never expected to get close to the local sheriff Carlos to make her feel comfortable but its only a matter of time till everything comes crumbling down.

I really liked this book, I love a good mystery suspense type novel but this book wasn't it. At

With Almost a Bride and Caught by the Sheriff, Rula Sinara takes readers to Turtleback Beach, North Carolina, and the trip proves to be a delight. It is no surprise that romance has great potential to spark in this small town, yet secrets and second chances do their best to complicate matters. As the characters—Grayson Zale and Mandi Rivers in Almost a Bride, Carlos Ryker and Faye Donovan in Caught by the Sheriff—sort through the complications before them, the stories develop with great heart. Another Turtleback Beach title in which Faye Donovan runs with her niece away from her sister's abusive husband after Clara sends her a message before her disappearance. Faye seeks help from a college friend in Turtleback Beach. Also there is Sheriff Carlos Ryker, who immediately suspects that Faye is hiding something--not just who she really is, but why she's there. But he has no idea she's not her niece's mother.

When each is attracted to the other but fearful of what that might mean should Fay

Caught By the Sheriff is the second book in Rula Sinara's Turtleback Beach series, though it certainly could work as a standalone. Like its predecessor, there is a suspense element to the plot--this time the heroine's on the run with her niece, hiding from her brother-in-law and at least partially misrepresenting herself to the people of Turtleback Beach, her college friend Eve included.

Similar to the first book, it is mostly from the POV of Faye and Carlos with occasional bits from that of the

Faye Donovan was on the run with her kidnapped niece at her twin sister's request, the last thing she needed was complications or a relationship. Yet, she found herself being drawn to Carlos Ryker despite the fact that he was the town sheriff and could untangle the web of lies she had carefully woven...not to mention, put her in prison!

Both Faye and Carlos were well-developed characters but I found myself wanting to know a little more about Carlos's father to understand his backstory better. I w

Caught by the Sheriff is the second book in the new Turtleback Beach series and it can be read as a stand-alone, but the first book is just as great as this one. I really enjoyed getting to see all the locals of Turtleback Beach again and being introduced to a few new ones. The book drew me in and kept my attention until the end. I love series that take place in small towns and have such heartwarming characters. Turtleback Beach was such, with a lot of warm caring people that helped each other o ...more

Rula Sinara returns to Turtleback Beach and focuses on the town Sheriff, Carlos Ryker. When Faye shows up in his town with a baby, he’s curious about her. Carlos takes his job to protect his town and the people in it seriously.

But Faye has secrets. Big ones. Ones that could bring trouble to her, baby Mia, and Turtleback. And that ramps up the tension in this book and keeps it moving along at a nice clip.

The residents of Turtleback are loyal to their pets and their friends. Plus, there’s more tha

4.5 Stars. Book two in the Turtleback Beach series was filled with tension. Faye is hiding out with her niece and Carlos is suspicious at first glance. They fit the roles of heroine and hero perfectly as damsel in distress and the protector. Their connection is endearing. The supporting cast makes this story a hit with fun characters, especially Eve and Jordan who have their own romantic spotlight. The bonus was the many scene-stealing lovable dogs and a cute toddler. As the pages turn, the tens ...more
I was pleasantly surprised by this new to me author and clean secular romantic novel. It's a fun story but there's also quite a lot of suspense as Faye hides from her powerful and psychotic brother-in-law. The setting is at the North Carolina coast and the leads are a dog walker/trainer and a local sheriff. I really liked the unusual setting and the strong dashes of suspense. The romance is believable without being too smushy for my tastes, which was really enjoyable. And there's a cute bonus ro ...more

This is a story that will touch you in many ways. Twins have a connection that is hard to understand. The issue is as old as time. Fear makes it hard to trust. Rula does an amazing job of bring this story to life. She brings the bad guy to life in a way that any of us that's been there can feel it. When you start reading this you will find it hard to put it down. As you read Faye Donavon and Carlos Ryker's story you will understand why Faye has a hard time to trust even though she can. You will ...more

Enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Liked the way the author built up the characters as the story went along. Felt like I got to know nearly everyone who lived in the small coastal town. Add in lots of dogs, a very cute toddler, matchmakers, plus a mystery of a twin sister missing and you have ticked a lot of boxes of what I like to discover in a novel.
