A Serving of Forever, Book 3 of the Lights Camera Insta-Love short stories, was about Desmond Conlon, a New York firefighter, and Quinn Beverley, a renowned restaurant critic.
Known by his siblings as a prankster, Desmond found himself on the other end of a horrible prank...his sisters had secretly nominated him to be a contestant on a reality television show for the worst baker ever. Always up for a good gag, Des took it like a champ, right up until the host of the show introduced one of the celebrity judges, who just so happened to be Quinn, and his world turned upside down at first sight of her.
Quinn was a 24-year-old, uptight young woman who allowed her "upper-crust" mother to run roughshod over her for her entire life. A social climbing wannabe, the mother was always pushing her daughter to be just as straight-laced and proper as she herself was. This caused Quinn to be more than a little introverted and lacking in self-confidence. After the show ended, Desmond caught up to her and invited her out for coffee to thank her for voting for him. One thing led to another, and Quinn found herself invited to his place for the weekend.
When Desmond took Quinn home to pack for the weekend, he found himself not only turned on, but he also learned what made her cave in on herself by meeting her mother. Taking matters into his own hands, Desmond told Quinn's mom that she should forget about planning her daughter's future events because they were no longer her responsibility.
For an over-protective brother who enjoyed pulling pranks on his sisters' boyfriends in order to chase them off, Desmond learned the hard way what "payback" really meant. Once he met Quinn and decided he wanted her forever, his two sisters stepped up the game by doing to his relationship what he had always done to theirs.
There were some amusing moments, as well as angsty and dramatic ones. All in all, it was a better story than the second book, but not as good as the first. It was good enough for a three-star rating, so that was a good thing.
