Number one rule of ride sharing as a female driver? Don’t fall for the mysterious man riding in the backseat.
Lenora I came across crazy people on the daily giving rides to strangers for a living. I carried pepper spray and I wasn’t afraid to use it. But one gorgeous male in a fake mustache and a story he wasn’t willing to share, and I was ready to climb in the backseat to peel his layers. He’s a distraction I don’t need as I graduate online college and try to get my first professional job so I can move out of my parents’ house before I’m thirty. I’m so close to realizing my dreams I can taste it.
Jayden I should have never hit on my driver. Even if she was the hottest thing I’d seen in cutoff jean shorts in maybe forever. I wasn’t in Auburn Hill for personal reasons and getting involved with the locals came ill-advised as I set up my new business. I probably shouldn’t know she curses like a sailor in bed considering I wind up interviewing her for a position in my company. Now I’m thinking of all kinds of positions I can put her in. Maybe she’ll settle for being an employee with benefits… But none of that matters now. Because I fired her. In front of the whole town. On her first day. Pretty sure there’s no coming back from that.

Excerpt
“Lenora?” he asked when he got close. His low voice rushed over me and I found myself standing taller, like accepting this ride would require an inspection of some sort. And boy did I suddenly want to be inspected. Thoroughly. I felt every single wrinkle in my poorly chosen outfit. I blinked and tried to focus on his face. Hard steel-gray eyes stared back at me, dark, thick eyebrows framing them perfectly. Harshly. Damn, I have brow envy. “Hello?” The eyebrows drew together. I blinked again and pulled myself out of my musings. “Yeah, sorry. I’m Lenora. Where are you headed today?” I turned away to open the trunk for his suitcase, glad I could shift into automatic conversation in times of stress. I’d done this song and dance so many times I could do it in my sleep, sexy eyebrows or not. I reached for his suitcase, the same time he did, our fingers tangling on the leather handle. And before you could say “holy hotness, Batman” I was standing there frozen, holding hands with a stranger. “I got it,” he rumbled, his face now just inches from mine. I straightened so fast I heard my back crack. The personal contact had sent a bolt of something through me, electrifying all my senses and shorting out my rational brain. My gaze zeroed in the mystery man’s mustache. It was thick and dark brown, combed straight down like he’d stepped off a Hollywood set still in costume for a 70s movie. For a second there, with our heads that close, I could have sworn I saw the edges to it, like it was one of those props Halloween goers glued on to complete the costume. Unfortunately, with my rational brain closed for the time being, all my pathetic little heart could do was yearn a little for the handsome stranger with the commanding voice and the even stranger attempt at a disguise.
This was adorable, it was sexy, and it was FUN! From fake mustaches to French-kissing goats to a nosey & gossipy mail carrier to a Hardware Store with fun toys, this story was highly entertaining and unputdownable.
Lenora & Jayden were so cute together! I loved how she kept at him, trying to get him to open up with her kindness and adorable-ness. The last thing the single dad wants is a relationship, but there’s no way he can resist the free-hug givin’, potty-mouthed Uber driver. Plus, their chemistry sizzled right off the pages. There was no fighting that.
Not only are the main characters awesome and super lovable, but so are the secondary characters. They add so much to the story. I love that we get to see Lucy & Bain again! I loved them so much from book one. And little Red...he kinda stole my heart.
This story has plenty of humor, but it also has so much heart. A perfect mix of laughs, warm fuzzies, toe-curling tingles.
Small town goodness, check. Tons of charm, check. Hair pulling deliciousness, hell to the yes, CHECK.
Looking for a well-written RomCom to make you smile, laugh, and probably snort-giggle numerous times? I‘d go with this one!
Lenora is working toward achieving her goals for the future but until that happens she drives a uber and doesn’t need to be sidetracked by a stranger no matter how sexy he is.
Jayden has enough on his plate between being a single father and starting his new business. The last thing he needs is to be preoccupied with a woman who not only drives him crazy but inspires feelings he isn’t prepared for.
Lenora and Jayden are so much fun together. The sparks fly between the, their interactions are humorous and even though they have some obstacles they must overcome there is no doubting that they belong together.
A light hearted romantic comedy is good for the soul.....and this book was just what I needed. Laugh out loud moments, steamy moments, swoon worthy moments and a few happy tears sprinkled in. Marika Ray is a favorite of mine when I need a low angst book. Loved this one!
Lenora/Nora and Jayden's story will have you in stitches. It's been a long time since I've laughed this much. Jayden's the mysterious stranger with the obvious fake mustache. They meet when she's his Uber driver. There was just something about him that ignited that spark for her. This is a great addition to the Jobs From Hell Series. He's from LA but relocating his business to this small town where his brother lives. The chemistry between them is explosive and begins to ignite more with each visit to town. The characters are hilarious and the story is a riot. The small town is unusual and quirky. A fun romance that will make you smile. The characters are well developed and likable. Marika is a great writer and did a wonderful job with this story. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review.
Uber Bossy is an interconnected stand alone book in the Jobs from Hell Series. I highly recommend reading Love Bank first, if you want ALL the backstory for this one. This is a hilarious rom-com with a gun-shy hero and a sweet and sassy heroine.
I can 100% envision the entire town of Auburn Hill, aka Hell. I can especially relate to the roundabout….
All of the characters are well-developed and I totally want to be their friends in real life. I’m also REALLY curious about Titus and Rip. Lenora, the heroine, is happy and always giving hugs, and looking for her first “real” job. Jayden, the hero, is nervous about his past, his future, and his upcoming job.
The plot is fantastic. You have the romance, family attachments, the entire town being nosy, and some job issues to overcome. There is more animal hilarity to be had, as well. OH and a baby. Babies are awesome.
This was a light-hearted, funny, romantic read with LOTS of heat and a very minimal black moment. (Just how I like ‘em!)
If you love Pippa Grant, Delancey Stewart, and the Bootleg Spring series by Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley, you’ll love this book, too!
Oh I loved Nora and Jaydens story! I laughed and swooned ag the pair of them. Great addition to the Jobs From Hell collection. Fab, feel good five stars!
I absolutely love this hilarious new book from Marika Ray!! If there was ever a time when I needed to laugh it was now, and Uber Bossy did the trick. I love Nora, with her motivated work ethic, feisty personality and amazing sense of humor. She doesn’t let anything bother her and she always goes after what she wants. Nora makes every Uber pick up an adventure, and the scenes where she maneuvers through the roundabout are always interesting and far from boring. Nora never knows who will be waiting for her when she arrives at the airport, and when she saw Jayden approach her car and call her name in his sexy, gravelly voice, she knew she was in big trouble. He was sex on a stick and too much temptation to resist. What could she possibly do but take him for a ride and see where it goes. Little did she know that her handsome passenger with the impeccable suit and fake mustache had secrets that were too juicy to ignore. What was he doing in Auburn Hill and who was he hiding from? Jayden was in town for one reason and one reason only, which didn’t include falling in love with his beautiful and fiery driver. Nora was something else and his heart wanted to know more about her, but his mind put up a stop sign. He felt like he was stuck in the roundabout, going in circles with nowhere to go. Jayden wondered if he had made the wrong decision to move to this friendly, but eccentric town. Only time will tell.
I was so happy to be back visiting Auburn Hell, I mean Hill. This book is exactly what I was needing, some great big laughs, and oh will the characters of Auburn Hill make you laugh. This book can be read as a standalone, but you will understand some of the characters and the quirkiness of Auburn Hill better if you read Love Bank first, and quite frankly, once you read one of these, you are going to want to read the rest of the series. I loved Lucy and Bain, and thought that it would be hard to top them, but Marika did it again with Lenora (Nora) and Jayden. These two were pretty much instantly attracted to one another, and the chemistry between them was off the charts. I loved the reference to the goat in this book (if you've read some of Marika's other books, you get this). Oh and cute little Red sure won over Nora. Jayden has been burned by women in his past, twice and has sworn off relationships and women, he is coming to Auburn HIlls to start up a new company and live in a small town near his brother to raise his son. He doesn't count on meeting a cute Uber driver who says many crazy things while driving, and is hot and he just can't stop thinking about her. Nora breaks down so many of his barriers. They are just such an adorable couple. I can't wait for the next in this series as there are so many people in this town that I want to learn more about. Oh and I can't wait to see how Jayden's new company, The Hardware store fares in this small conservative town. If you are in need of a great book that will more than likely have you laughing out loud, this is a great one to pick up. Marika has a way of writing Rom Com's that I totally enjoy and have not found in others.
I love reading rom coms by Marika Ray simply because these stories make me feel happy. Uber Bossy is no exception. Hilarious and witty yet completely believable incidents all through the story guranteed I had a great time. Quirky and adorable characters who made me fall in love instantly. And Marika Ray's writing was on point to make it one entertainment blockbuster!
Lenora is the sole female Uber driver in Aubern Hill. This town is just awesome. With it's scenic beauty, the sea beach, quaint charm and nosy but good wishing citizens. Lenora is a hardworking girl who uses the money for her college degree. As a cab driver, she sure sees a lot of exciting and interesting people. But no one is like Jayden. The charismatic new guy in town with a fake moustache. He is here with his son Alfred and with the intent of setting up the new branch of his business. And he doesn't certainly need the distraction of a loud mouthed ever smiling cab driver.
The chemistry between Jayden and Lenora is instant and crazy. Jayden has a shield around his heart but Lenora barges right past it. And Lenora also finds her Soulmate in this amazing man. Jayden activated some major swoon factor in me. Single dad..businessman..charming..sexy..he is just the full package. I love Lenora's energy and way of living. I felt like I am part of their crew and that was just an amazing feel! I laughed so hard, swooned so hard and just had a great time.
Marika Ray's witty and flawless writing won me over once again in Uber Bossy. Be ready to have a fantastic ride full of fun, heat and swoon!
Uber Bossy book #2 in the Jobs from Hell series. It can be read as a stand-alone or a part of the series. Uber Bossy is a fun small town novel. Secrets are never safe from the town’s rumour mill. Lenora and Jayden have a special bond from their first meeting. Enjoy the journey of Lenora and Jayden.

"I was perving on a mama’s boy stranger more inclined to kill me when I wasn’t looking than to be my Prince Charming." - Lenora
Lenora had a glorious goal: finish her degree online, graduate, and start a new life in marketing. Too bad Fate had other plans...
"I obsessed over no one. Especially a woman. Expressive brown eyes and sailor mouth be damned." - Jayden
Getting French kissed by a baby goat was NOT a good start to his new business venture, but Jayden was determined to make it happen. NOTHING was going to stop him from succeeding, not even a curvy, exciting distraction named Lenora...
“I don’t need to forgive you. That kiss was amazing and I won’t apologize for it, nor should you. I didn’t ask you to marry me simply because your lips touched mine, so you can put the ring away.” - Lenora
The attraction between Lenora and Jayden was almost instantaneous and definitely mutual, but Jayden is determined to dedicate himself to his young son and his new business. There's no room in his life for any complications... Or is there?
“Being with you is like jumping in the icy Pacific in the winter. It’s scary as h*ll but d*mn refreshing. I’ve never felt so alive.” - Jayden
But the "friends with benefits" ship hits a reef when Jayden's new "business" is inadvertently revealed to the town, and the following explosions rival Chernobyl's fallout. Can Jayden overcome his mistake, or will Lenora kiss him goodbye for the final time?
Oh wow! Jayden's and Lenora's story will melt your heart! A romantic comedy that tugs at your heartstrings, Uber Bossy will make you laugh, make you cry, and give you the warm fuzzies!
"She giggled and I felt it where our bodies were connected. Oh shit, I felt everything."
5 Uber Funny Stars!! I was hooked, this book is so fun!
Lenora is the only female uber driver in her town. She loves her job and the money she makes she uses for her college costs. While driving she meets so many fun, refreshing, dare I say interesting people and she loves it! So when Jayden ends up on her car one day, she can't deny the instant attraction she feels. Jayden is new to town and looking to set up the next branch of his business, and he has his adorable son in tow. Jayden is a great man but has a huge wall up around his heart and Lenora is determined to bust that wall down!
These two are so funny and electric together. I really loved the uniqueness of this story! It was intriguing and so fun to read! I can't wait to read more from Marika in the future!
ONE STEAMROLLING FUN-FILLED RIDE!!! Delightful! Marika unleashes one sensational, tantalizing and brilliantly composed work of art, laying out this enchanting, fun-filled storyline and engaging plot, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Vexing mishaps and surprising circumstances alongside intimidating trials and challenging tribulations noting the compelling twists and wicked turns testing our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. Presenting incredible, well rounded scenario's, that punch dead center revving up the exuberance and adrenaline with such intensity and precision, thrusting this gem to a whole new level. Braided, bound and entangled, displaying the explosive ups and agonizing downs, grounding in it's strength and awe inspiring in it's depth. The attraction and chemistry sizzles from the pages and suck you in so deeply until you feel the heat and electricity thrumming through your veins. The characters, banter, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, transforming into genuinely charismatic personalities. The scenes are written with such realism, impressive talent and unique insight, blasts this sparkling jewel to life, making the storyline pop. Awesome job Marika, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.
What a great story this was. I adored Nora and Jayden from the beginning! Their romance was unique and very steamy.... But.... At the same time so sweet and funny! Jayden was such a sensitive caring person who had been hurt badly a couple of times and who completely lived for his son, Red. Nora, was a feisty woman who had not come into her own person as much as she wanted to.. But her journey after she met Jayden was quick, funny, and uplifting! All the characters in the town are quirky and interesting! I really like that the main women in the book, and the men also, have their little groups of loyal, supportive and caring friends that they get together with and share theories and downs with... That really enhances the books. I really like that the two books that I have read by Marika Ray so far don't have numerous chapters of angst... Just enough to make them interesting but not enough to make you dislike the main characters.....which is something a lot of authors do and I am now avoiding those type authors so I was delighted to find Marika Ray. I highly recommend this wonderful feel good story. It is an absolutely delightful mix of love, friendship, swoony romance, loyalty, humor, a bit of mystery, and small town quirkiness!!!😇
I adored Lenora and Jayden's book! It was so great to make a return trip to this small town that is filled with a whole lot of zaniness! To be honest, I had no idea how badly I needed the colossal dose of whacky characters , over-the-top, laugh out loud humor, heart wrenching emotion and steamy heat that this book provides until I was knee deep in it. This is a book that will melt your heart and have you swooning, while it also brightens your day and puts a smile that won't quit on your face. I loved Lucy and Bain from book one, Love Bank and I wasn't sure if another couple could compare but these two easily carved out their own niche in my heart in no time at all. While I think you should read book one because it is just that good; I do think you could read this book as a standalone. I firmly believe though that once you get a taste of this series you'll want more!! A great cast of secondary characters and some well laid out groundwork will leave you very eager for the next book in this awesome series! This is my sincere review that I am posting of my own accord.
Hilarious, heartwarming, and hella fun-- this book is sheer perfection. From the eccentric cast of characters to the absurd amount of chemistry between Lenora and Jayden, there is literally EVERYTHING you could want from a romcom (and, you know, goats. And seagulls.
And cats.)
I have never loved a fictional place as much as I love Auburn Hill, nor have I ever loved characters as much as I love its residents. I can only hope Marika Ray continues this series indefinitely, until I am too old and senile to follow the plot and start seeing (more of) myself in Yedda.
I could go on and on about all the things I love about this book-- the laugh-out-loud moments that GENUINELY make me laugh out loud and disturb my dog's nap, the swoon-worthy love scenes that prompt me to waggle my eyebrows at my hubby, the sweetness and sincerity that make it impossible to put the book down -- but I'd rather tell you to stop reading this review and start reading Uber Bossy, asap.
Uber Bossy was a sweet and funny little romantic comedy. We return to Auburn Hill- or Hell as most of the residents refer to it- for the love story of Jayden Sutter and Lenora Murphy, who we previously met in the original book from in the Jobs from Hell series. We follow the journey of Jayden who is a single father and Bain's younger brother as he moves to Hell to create a quieter life for him and his son. Lenora is Hell's only Uber driver and daughter of the town's pastor. As she gets to know Jayden while he travels back and forth- incognito for a bit and then as himself later on. They have many fun and silly interactions that begin to show their attraction to each other and eventually begin a physical relationship. There are some twists and turns in the story that create drama but ultimately we end with a sweet HEA. Marika has a way of making you fall in love with this quirky town and all the people in it. I can't wait to see which of the remaining single members of the Hell Raisers will be in the next book!
Once again we return to Auburn Hill (Hell) and the town is just as crazy as ever to get a real feel for this place read book 1 Love Bank first you won't be disappointed. Like all Marika books it is the characters that make them and you will feel like you have made new friends by the time you hit the end of the book
Lenora knows there is definitely something hinky about her latest fare as an uber driver after all that moustache is definitely fake but she can't help but be attracted to him anyway. Jayden has come to Auburn Hill from LA he wants to open a new business here now that his brother lives here. He is attracted to his uber driver and it gets stronger every time she drives him. Soon he is drawn into the madness that is this town and in the process has he destroyed any chance he had with Lenora Be prepared to laugh yourself silly and please don't read in public you could be committed before you know it as you chuckle and giggle out loud
This book was fantastic! This is Book two in the series but it can be read as a standalone. Although I highly recommend starting with the first book so that you can meet all of the amazing characters in the novel.
This book is Lenora and Jayden’s story and let me tell you I have been waiting for this book to release. I just knew Lenora’s book was going to be epic. She is such a free spirit and speaks her mind and I really believe everyone needs a Lenora in their lives!!!! Jayden for his part is a swoon worthy gentleman who is a single father just trying to provide for his adorable son. I loved the attraction between Lenora and Jayden, the easy flow/banter between them and I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow and process throughout this novel.
I love Marika’s writing style. Her books always put a smile on my face and have my heart bursting with joy. This book is a feel good romance that will draw you in from start to finish. I highly recommend this book.
I really needed a book that gave me a good laugh and a lot of swoon, and I definitely got it with this book. Lenora's character is really funny and really refreshing, and I enjoyed her storyline quite a bit. What I like about her most is that even when life and love bring her down, she finds a way to turn it around and make the best of it, even when it was hard to do that. She has such a great spirit and was so fun to read.
And Jayden. Secretive, swoon-worthy, single dad Jayden. He bounces back multiple times from not-so-fun situations (don't want to spoil it), and while he does have some moments where his insecurities get the best of him, he truly is a great man with a great heart and a desire to take care of those he loves. He's a fantastic dad, too, which made me swoon even more over him.
This story brings lots of laughs, some emotional moments, and a great cast of characters that will leave you wanting more. Definitely a must-read for the summer!
I was honoured to read this as part of Marika Ray's ARC team and this is my honest review.
Lenora is the Uber driver in a town called Auburn Hill aka Hell! Most people when they pick up a stranger wearing a false moustache would be wary - oh no not Lenora she thinks this stranger is HOT!
Jayden is a single dad but travels between his home and Auburn Hill regularly as he is setting up a business company called the Hardware Store.
Lenora finally graduates with her degree and she manages to find a job with the title she has dreamed of - only problem is she gets fired on the first day!!
This book is absolutely hilarious from pesky seagulls to goats that frenchy you whilst you are travelling by plane! Nothing is ever boring in Hell as it certainly lives up to it's hilarious name especially when Bain gets his own back on his brother's dare!!!
Uber Bossy was just the kind of book I needed in my life right now. Words that immediately come to mind are funny, sweet, sexy, light-hearted; the kind of book that I couldn’t bear to put down and never wanted to end.
This is the first book I’ve read by Marika Ray, and I’ve become an instant fan. Uber Bossy is #2 in the “Jobs from Hell” series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I had not yet read the first book in the series before reading Uber Bossy, and had absolutely no issues. Of course, now, I can’t wait to crack open the first book, ‘Love Bank’.
Uber Bossy is more than worthy of my 5 Star Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The characters were relatable and the chemistry was juicy from the beginning to the end. Great writing and a great story. This is the type of book that will have you laughing out loud and leave you smiling. 💜❤️
The mysterious rider with the moustache and the fun "taxi driver". From the moment Lenora picked up a guy from the airport, there was just something about him. Something she is drawn to. He has come to her town and there is something up with this guy.
These two interact more often when he comes in and out of town. They have chemistry but Jayden has major trust issues. This story gave me some giggles, the town its set in is really unique, funny as heck, and what you think a quirky small town with unique characters would have. Jayden is trying to slow things down, moving from Los Angeles to a little town where is brother is, Hell. This was a cute fun book and a good addition to the first book in this series.
Nora is an Uber driver while finishing college online so she can get a job which will get her out of parents house. She was hilarious so I was laughing hard throughout. Jayden gets a ride in her car, but he's in somewhat a disguise, and they have an instant connection, with chemistry that shoots sparks everywhere. Oh, and he obviously has some secrets. Marika Ray penned a light story that I couldn't get enough of, as it was just fun with a big side of heat. These two people feel like real people who have flaws, but that makes it so much better in my eyes. Please hit those one click buttons to experience all this hilarious goodness for yourselves! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
