After a harrowing escape from a battlefield of warring camps, Lance and Cass have reunited their friends and family. They’ve taken refuge in The Light, possibly the only building left in the world with electricity.

But their problems have just begun.

Each night, creatures ascend from Baltimore’s sewers, swarming the building and testing the defenses for weaknesses. These aren’t the monstrosities Lance and Cass first encountered years earlier—they’ve evolved. Their laments fill the darkness like a primitive language. A leader has emerged from the hordes, guiding the infected in their assaults on the remaining humans.

With opposing factions of survivors attacking them by day, and legions of the nightmarish horrors prowling through the night, Lance and Cass must make an uneasy alliance with The Light’s residents to defend their loved ones.

"JASON BRANT" is an anagram for Bas Trojann, a former Bigfoot hunter who, after being abducted (and subsequently returned) by aliens, decided to hang up his ghillie suit and enter the world of professional arm wrestling. Despite back-to-back first place finishes in the South Dakota World International Championship League, Bas receded from athletics to invent cheese and give Al Gore the initiative to create the internet.

Nearly a decade after writing the bestselling self-help series, Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese (Cut into Four Pieces) for the Soul, Bas has left his life of notoriety and critical acclaim behind him to write existential, erotic poetry.

His wife washes their clothing on his abs.

How do you up the ante in book 5 of a kick ass series? You set the action (and I do mean action) over the course of one hellish day. Cass and Lance and the gang are now at The Light, a place to rest and feel safe for a while. Of course, we know that's not going to be the case. Decayed is brimming with non stop action and tension, hurtling toward a climax that will have you on the end of your favorite reading chair. Get ready to say bye-bye to some beloved characters in this one. Who said the apocalypse was going to be easy? I can't wait for the next book, because this one left off with a hell of a cliffhanger.

Brant puts the pedal to the metal from page one and never looks back. Next one in the series is going straight to my Christmas list.

Love this series. And book 5 was chock full of even more Jason Brant'ness (is that a word?).
Now where the hell is book 6? C'mon, dude. Let's bring this sucker home!

I've been reading this series since day one, and now that we're on book five with only one more book left (presumably) I can say with honesty that this series has never been better!

The stakes have never been higher for Lance and Cass York and their misfit team of survivors. Everyone is mad at them, and they have no choice but to fight their way out of this terrible situation. It's not just their lives on the line though, but also the lives of the children in their group. Saving one's own life is hard enough, but protecting others' just takes the cake.

I am forever a fan of Jason Brant's. At this point, you'd have to take me kicking and screaming away from his work. Once again he provides with a spectacular story with high stakes, high sass, and high action. I'm practically frothing at the mouth like a Vladdie for his next book!

The ending ruined this book for me.

This is the last book in the series that i will ever read. I hate being held hanging on either a book or tv show and this was an obvious ploy by Jason to get readers to buy the next book in the series. Don't waste your time it will only make you angry at the end.

Absolutely brilliant. I really love this series, each book gets better. I loved that this one played out over just one day. It didn't let up, action wise, from the moment it started. It had me totally hooked and I ended up staying up way too late on a week night in order to finish it.

Another Great Ride!

Brant keeps it coming in the fifth book of his series. A constant page turner, can't put it down thrill ride.

Decayed

I'm so on the fence with book 5. I wanted to rate it higher but I couldn't. Now I'm on pins and needles waiting for the outcome.
