Animal Stories #38

The Unwanted Puppy

Rate this book

Zoe loves dogs but hasn't had one of her own since her beloved Honey died. Then Zoe spies Scout, a gorgeous Bernese Mountain puppy, in the park after school. Scout belongs to four-year-old Jack and his family, who are new to the neighbourhood.

Zoe offers to walk Scout in the park as she's worried the large, lively puppy isn't getting enough exercise or attention. Gradually she falls in love with Scout - but she knows that Scout belongs to Jack, even if his family don't have the time to give Scout the care he needs. How can she help Scout when he isn't her dog to help?

In this book, Zoe finds a puppy in the park and it's instant love especially as her parents get to know Lauren and her children and Zoe is allowed to help out with their dog as they lack time to tire him or train him and he keeps causing trouble and getting in the way all the time.

This book perfectly shows how young families and dog can clash and not mix however it can depend on the type of dog too. I loved how there was a compromise which made all the kids happy and of course the puppy too!

This is why you don't adopt pets while both of your kids are still really really young

My 11 year old who doesn’t like to read did this one all by himself and enjoys this series. Perfect for a kid who lives dogs and doesn’t really like reading much. Highly recommend.

My 6 year old daughter liked this book a lot. I liked it, didn't love it. I wish it had more pictures for my daughter.
