Presents the Bible as a literal record and predictor of world history, and as evidence of a program for man's salvation, including Genesis, the Flood, Christ's birth and ministry, and present and future ages.
Will the world will end in 2011? This book better have a better ending than Camping's earlier title, 1994? which predicted the end of the world in..., yeah, you guessed it: 1994. It's the kind of book that really, really needed a sequel! I can't wait to read this in 2012!!!
this is not an easy book to read, and i’m not sure there is much point in doing so. but for 500 pages of biblical exegesis, it’s relatively interesting.
you have to wonder why camping decided that the world was going to end in 2011 in the first place. he has a thousand shoehorned pieces of evidence for this claim, but i wish he told us what the original selling point was for him. if i had to guess, it’s the 7000 years after the noachian flood piece, but even that seems like it could just be developed to fit his narrative.
i don’t know - i read this with little prior knowledge of biblical history or the customs of biblical interpretation, so i can’t speak to whether it’s “good” for what it is. but as a secular reader in 2022, this is a cool, in depth exposee on the mind of a madman. happy to have read it, wouldn’t do it again lol
Not intended as a literary work, this book is nevertheless fascinating and significant, and likely to provoke some Biblical scholars and theologians by revealing Biblical passages challenging many widely held beliefs. The Biblical information identified in this 500+ page "exposition" and proclamation certainly challenges readers to explore further, and consider more deeply, the Holy Bible not only as a Holy Book of laws and moral guidelines, but also as the "time piece" of absolute precision and exactness revealing God's purpose and plan for His entire world. From this book, readers may also gain a greater appreciation of the Bible's construction as a whole and complete work of God rather than as a series of discrete books, chapters and verses.
The preface addresses subjects such as the progressive quality of Biblical information, how the Bible should be read (and taught) in accordance with Biblical instructions, and provides Biblical support for why this information needs to be published. Though the author offers considerable amount of commentary, it is well supported with Biblical references so readers can verify and explore the material for themselves. The final chapter points to the hope of the Gospel of Christ Jesus, the Holy Bible, by addressing the question, "What Must I do to Become Saved?" as answered from current Biblical understanding, up to its 2005 publication date. Further and updated Biblical information was released by the author in the book, "We are Almost There!," published February 2008. Review by David
