Drawing Out Your Soul: The Touch Drawing Handbook

Rate this book
All you need to know to begin Touch Drawing. Touch Drawing is a simple yet profound process where fingers take the place of pen or brush. Paper is placed over a freshly inked surface and, whenever it is touched, an imprint is made on the back- side. Many drawings can be created in one session, each a stepping-stone to the next, guiding one deeper and deeper into the self. Even those who believe they cannot draw find Touch Drawing to be a powerful and fulfilling experience.

A book I need to review again, with the proper tools. Touch drawing is something I'd like to experiment more with. I wish this was book was more comprehensive, but it was written by the originator of the method a long time ago. It would be interesting to see a new edition.

It's a neat little book explaining the concept of Touch Drawing. Deborah gives ideas on how to get into the mindframe and begin.

Unfortunately, she doesn't talk about using pads of fingers vs nails, etc. I've seen Deborah do demonstrations on youtube, so I have seen her techniques. None of that is brought up in this little book. So it's only helpful to a degree.

This concise booklet about how to do touch drawing is well-illustrated and is quite informative considering it is less than 50 pages. The author discovered this simple art technique the day before completing an art school program in NY and has been working with it ever since. Though the book explains enough to begin on your own, I may take one of her workshops next year since she lives locally (near Seattle). Here is a link to her website to get more information and to view many of her creations. http://www.touchdrawing.com/

Note: in the website you will see that you can send e-cards with her art work.
