This is a great series. Even better after reading how the author came up with her ideas fir the story. Although there is a sad factor to it too. I can’t say much or I’ll give away an important part of the story. Let’s just say I understood it from the same experience. It just made me feel stronger about relating with the characters. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

Shelby has a couple of reasons to spend time at the Island Slumber Bed & Breakfast. She is helping her friend, Jasmine, with a mural by the B&B's pool because Shelby has the height to reach the upper parts that need painting. She is also giving Jasmine's boys swimming lessons. While painting one day, Shelby meets Klyne, a guest at the B&B. Also enjoying the pool are three other guests of the B&B, Tatya, Kat, and Alice. After the day's painting session, Klyne introduces Shelby to his friend, Nandita and asks Shelby to recommend a restaurant. Shelby invites Klyne and Nandita to join her and Jesse at the Sydney.

At dinner, Jesse and Klyne seem to hit it off very well and enjoy a robust conversation. Klyne talks about some of the other guests at the B&B in a general conversational manner. Together, all four people have a pretty enjoyable evening before Klyne and Nandita decide to head back to the B&B. Jesse and Shelby also call it a night and back to their cabin.

When Shelby arrives at the B&B the next morning, she sees a police cruiser at the entrance to the B&B. Jasmine's husband, Winston, asks her to take the boys down to the pool to get them away from the turmoil inside. One of the other guests, Milton Peralta, is watching his sister's children and asks Shelby to take them to the pool as well. The problem at the B&B turns out to be that Klyne has been murdered. The initial investigation reveals that Klyne was not his real name.

What was Klyne's real name? Who killed Klyne? Why was he killed? Since Klyne was new to the island, was he killed by one of the B&B guests? Are the other guests also hiding secrets? Can Shelby figure out the mystery without putting herself in danger?

Donna Davis has created another wonderful mystery for her readers. The characters and situation are realistic. The story also contains details of Palawan history that adds an extra dimension to the story. There are plenty of twists, turns, and red herrings to keep you guessing clear to the end.

I received a copy of this book from the author to read and give a review of my honest opinion! This is the third book of this awesome series.. You have some of the same qualified kooky characters in this story where it's explained as it goes on where you can read the other two books first or it can be read as a stand alone. I do believe after you read this book, you will want to go back and read the other two. In this murder mystery story you have mystery situations surrounding the murder..the characters that you met ,well, some of them you will just shake your head cause they are what you call"strange and kooky".. met the different animals and do they have anything to do with the mystery of who did this? After you read this story make sure you read the authors , "Donna Amid Davis" explanation on how she came to write this story and some of how she put some of herself in the story! It's really enjoyable to learn a few things! This is a"MUST READ" .. On to the next murder mystery as soon as I can!

Another fun adventure in Palawan! Shelby and Jesse get embroiled again in a murder mystery even though Shelby is determined not to as they are hoping to expand their family.

Adventures abound as Shelby and her friends navigate through this new mystery and support each other. Along the way, we celebrate Marlena’s “almost 50” 49th birthday party with lots of great sounding food.

Shelby is quite a character!

This is the third book that I have read in this entertaining series. I enjoyed trying to figure out the mystery before the reveal. But I really enjoyed the Shelby and Jesse’s story. Especially the focus on Shelby as a person and not just as an amateur detective solving the mystery. Her character is truly an amazing person. It is no wonder that she has surrounded herself with great friends proving that to have great friends, you must be a great friend first.

This is a wonderful story that is free of vulgar language, sexual exploits, and graphic violence. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Disquiet at the Dive Shack: Murder at the Bed & Breakfast (Dive Shack Mysteries Book 3), my third read from author Donna Amis Davis and the third book in her Dive Shack Mysteries. A well-written cozy mystery with unexpected twists throughout. So enjoyable I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Just an enjoyable afternoon read. “I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I got this book back in March of this year & lost track of it until now with all that's going on with Covid & all. I've enjoyed these 3 books so much I'm reading The Fool on the Hill in a Convertible ('60s Surf Shop Mysteries Book 1) next.(RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Shelby and Jesse is at the Island Slumber Bed and Breakfast where she is helping her friends and trying to keep busy while her husband is doing research for his PhD. Life has been quiet until the B&B is booked with vacationers. While Shelby gets to know the people something goes wrong and a foreigner was killed. Shelby gets involved in the murder investigation and her life is threatened. Will she escape unscathed? This story had many twists and turns and kept you guessing who the murderer was.

I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

So much goes on in this book. We learn more of the places to visit ans things to do but in the midst of the activities a murder occurs and this time even Shelby is among the list of suspects. With tourists from all over the world they are not happy about having to stay until the investigation is over. Meanwhile Marlene is planning a big birthday party and wants it at that B & B so it needs solved quickly.

Again I had an advance copy but these characters are developing so nicely I can honestly recommend you read their stories. I want to read more myself.

Disquiet at the Dive Shack (book # 3) by Donna Amis Davis

We are back on Palawan, a tiny island in the Philippines, with Shelby and Jesse in this third book of the Dive Shack series, just a few months after book 2. Jesse is still working on his dissertation research, and Shelby is trying to make new friends, help her existing friends with their problems, but, most important, staying out of trouble! No investigations! No murders!

Monday:
As we enter chapter one, Shelby is waiting to talk to Jasmine, one of the coffee cup girls, that meet every Tuesday night at Sips and Sweets, a local coffee house. Jasmine is sketching out a mural on the wall by the pool at the B&B owned by Jasmine and her husband, Winston. She has asked Shelby to help with painting the top portion of the mural because Shelby is so tall and Jasmine is so short. Having Shelby do the top part will save Jasmine from getting too high on the ladder and possibly falling. And since Shelby has also been teaching Jasmine's kids swimming lessons in the late morning, she can come early, very early, to get the painting done before she starts lessons with the kids. At least that is the agreement they came to. After talking to Jasmine, Shelby became acquainted with some of the guests staying at the B&B. There were 3 girls from Australia, Tayla, Alice and Kat, who were doing a lot of sightseeing. They left every afternoon for some tour of the area but they were at the B&B pool every morning before Shelby started her lessons, Then there was Klyne, who was an American, and his girlfriend Nandita who was Indian. Klyne was a great, outgoing guy but his girlfriend hardly ever spoke, even in response to a question! Shelby thought that Klyne and Jesse would get on so well that she invited them to the Sydney for dinner that night. After finishing her swimming lessons with Jasmine's boys, Gian and Zeus, she heads home to Jesse who is at home today writing up his notes. They end up the night meeting Klyne and Nandita at the Sydney and enjoying Dulce dinner and Marlena's dessert before a man came into the dining looking for Klyne and Nandita, but he called her Zarina. Both Klyne and Nandita corrected him. Klyne referred to him as Ajay and said he should have told them that he was coming to Palawan. He asks him to join them but Ajay is talking to Nandita/Zarina telling her he waited for her at the Continental Hotel.

Tuesday

Shelby arrives at the B&B at daybreak, but there is a lot of activity there; police, the gate is open when it shouldn't be and the sound of crying. As Shelby enters the building, Jasmine sees her and comes to tell her that Klyne has been murdered in his room and Nandita won't speak, just cries.

How did Klyne allow someone to attack hum? The amount of blood and the savagery of the attack might suggest that anger and revenge was involved . How can Shelby ignore this? She didn't want to get involved This summer was supposed to be when she stayed out of trouble and relaxed, But how can she stay away from helping Jasmine and Winston? This is clearly a blemish on the B&B and Shelby has several questions to ask the varied guests there, those we met before and several mire, Can she figure out who did this and why? Of course, there is only one way to find out! Join her investigation and see where it leads in this captivating mystery by Ms. Davis. Her writing and mysteries just get better and better. Disquiet at the Dive Shack is filled with financial intrigue, cryptocurrencies and international billions won and lost. Please, if you haven't read these books yet, run, don't walk, to start this series. Enjoy!

In the third book of the cozy mystery set in the Philippines, our long-term resident sleuth Shelby is helping her friend Jasmine, when one of her guests turns up murdered. But finding out the murderer in a bunch of tourists, who all seem friendly is not an easy feat.
Like the other books in the series a well-written , entertaining story with an exotic island flair. The characters are interesting and mostly believable.

When I start a cozy mystery I try to guess who gets killed! Not correct this time! I love the setting of this series & the food always sounds unbelievably good. Sad we can’t get tastings with our ARC books! Painting a big mural by the local B&B pool, helping children learn to swim & murder sleuthing con naturally to Shelley. She has suspicions that people are hiding things, she’s quite correct & she does work out who the murdered was. I’d have loved to have been at the finale.

What is supposed to be a restful time for Shelby while her husband is finishing his dissertation once again places her in the middle of a murder investigation. While helping her friend Jasmine at the Slumber Island B&B paint a mural and teach her kids to swim, a guest is murdered and Shelby can help but get involved. The guests aren’t exactly who they say they are and things aren’t always as they seem. A very enjoyable read!

Trouble finding Shelby is at it again. Using what she’s learned to investigate that’s what she does. She’s not having herself be a suspect for long. She’s at the B&B a lot as she’s helping paint a mural as well as swimming lessons. Good clean cozy mystery.

I received this as an ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This third book in the series was as good as the first 2. The twists and turns keep you from figuring out who is the guilty party until the very end. Davis continues to develop her main characters in this installment. This book focuses more on Shelby and Jesse as well as Marlena. There are some funny moments as always as you cannot help but smile at Marlena's personality. We also see a deeper side of Jesse and Shelby's relationship in this storyline. The supporting cast of the ladies isn't as prominent in this book with the exception of Jasmine as this story's main setting is her and Winston's B&B.

Cannot wait to read more in the series
