“Giant ant robots?” Bel cried. “Killer domes? The chosen one?”
‘Killer Domes and the Chosen One’ is exactly what you’d think this book is about - killer domes and a chose one!
‘Killer Domes and the Chosen One’ by Gibbo Gibbs is a futuristic, dystopian YA fantasy with a quick passing pace that leaves room for no lagging and no nonsense. Super intelligent Maz is the main lead in this story with her half-witted best friend Hap who companions her in an unanticipat ...more

What an enjoyable little novella this turned out to be. Quick and easy to read, it appeals to both Adult and Young Adult audiences alike.
Leaving the safety of their dome, young female protagonist Maz and male sidekick Hap encounter a plethora of dangerous situations and killer robots in their quest to steer the fate of humanity in an entirely new direction.

It is a dystopian novella set amidst ash-bots, domes, existence, and humankind. The book kickstarts with showing a warm friendship between its protagonist Maz and her best friend Hap. Their verbal exchanges amused me. And then they set on an adventurous journey to save humanity. In their exploration, they come across Mitch, the chosen one, and together they embark on a mission. What an exhilarating ride!

The world has perished greatly, the Elite have left to colonize in space, leaving only a few to live in the domes set to keep them safe from the outside world. But once Maz and Hap meet Mitch, suspicions start to rise, and Maz, Hap, and Mitch must save humanity.

Maz is a brilliant designer and clearly meant for more. She yearns for more beyond what her dome has to offer. While meeting with her best friend Hap in a seldom used garden, she’s given the opportunity of a lifetime to see what lies beyond the dome. Mitch is determined to save the people of his own dome, who are slowly being held hostage while their dome leader seems to be going mad. But Mitch needs help, which comes in the form of Maz and Hap as they can seek the information Mitch needs to sav

Killer Domes and the Chosen One isn’t my usual type of book, but I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised, and I actually thoroughly enjoyed this book.
To begin with, it took a little while to understand what was happening, because you were thrown in to a new, unknown world. However, things are soon explained, and the story becomes a lot easier to understand. I really liked the idea of dome worlds, and found the plot extremely interesting. Gibbs has created a colorful, if at times confusing, dystopian set in a post-apocalyptic setting. I appreciated that the author does just enough world-building to keep readers from being completely lost in this new world but we don’t get bombarded with insane amounts of detail. Instead, readers are treated to an interesting POV from Maz who thinks she is the hottest thing since sliced bread. Maz’s elitism stops just short of grating, thankfully, but honestly, my favorite character was Hap. His h

3.5 rounded up. This was a fun read! Set sometime in the future, a young designer named Maz lives inside a dome along with a community of people after the Earth is left in ruins. She's best friends with Hap but she is dying to know what exists outside the dome. When she meets a man named Mitch, she has the chance to venture out of her comfort zone and be part of something bigger.

This dystopian novel follows intelligent Maz and her best friend Hap on a long awaited adventure outside the dome that they live in and have never left before. Maz is bored of the routine of her life inside the dome and when they meet Mitch who needs help saving the people from his own dome, the teens jump at the chance to help and to find the truth about what the Elite are hiding from everyone. Mitch can sometimes be an unlikeable character due to his temper and impatience but his robot friend

As a fan of dystopian fiction, I was not disappointed in this novella! Unlike many books in this genre, the scene opens in a world far removed from the point of apocalypse. There is a picture of a utopian like society where life is simple and blissful... Or is it? Secrets are soon revealed that take the reader on a wild ride to discover exactly what's going on beneath the domes. Definitely a great read by this new author! I can't wait to read more! ...more

The book is a real pageturner. I always wondered what would happen next. The story never disappointed. It's about Maz and her best friend Hap. They live in a dome together with robots and other citizens, where life is structured and organized. Until they meet someone who turns their whole world upside down. I recommend it to all sci-fi lovers and if you want to read a unique story about a dystopian world.

The book is a dystopian novella set in times when humans after the devastation on earth went to colonise space but a few of the non-elite were abandoned on earth to succumb and vanish soon. Some of the lucky ones lived and were inhabiting in their respective domes without any clue of the presence of several others just like theirs. An individualistic writing style is achieved through variations from the norm. In other words, it is created through the rules the writer breaks. However, if the writer breaks too many rules, the reader begins to wonder whether this is stylistic intention or a lack of writing experience.
With this book, it’s hard to tell. The title and the author’s name indicate that the style will be off the beaten path. The post-apocalyptic setting provides a canvas for any sort of art the writer chooses, and G ...more

Killer Domes and the Chosen One is not your typical start to a sci-fi adventure. In this world the Elites have left behind some people on earth, but left them within domes to protect them from the world as it burned. We primarily follow Maz, who prides herself on excelling and gaining status in the dome.

Killer Dimes and the Chosen Ones is a short dystopian mystery with many likable characters, an interesting plot, and a satisfying conclusion. The main character was hard for me to connect with since she’s very brash, sometimes mean, and very self centered. However, secondary characters (like the main’s best friend) gave me people to “root” for. I also found myself “lost” at times; the story seemed to be missing key pieces of information (which may be due to its short length). However, I really e

This was a great ya. The characters all felt real and the story flowed very well. It was a very short story but it felt way longer (in a good way!). The world building worked out very well and the editing was done fabulously. I read the other version of this one and then the updated one and I have to say that I think the author did a great job with getting this edited. This one read so much better. If you are looking for a new dystopian story then check this one out!

For those who enjoy light YA fantasy, this is a nice book to pick up. I felt the book concluded very nicely and one of the characters, Mitch, seemed to be one of those volatile characters - I would have liked if there'd been a bit more background on him, since he seemed like quite a fascinating character even though he could border on unlikable at times.
