This was great writing and the plot kept you reading. I just had some issues with the characters and how the book progressed. It fleet like more time was given for the build up and then when it got time for the revenge part it was glossed over. You read and read so you can see the revenge take place and have the bad guys look Ethan in the face and know it was him that brought them down. **spoiler** It just didnt happen. It was glossed over for two of the guys. Vans was better but I think he got ...more

If you are a fan on the Count Of Monte Cristo, you are going to love this modern retelling down to wanting to do bodily harm to Van! The story has a lot of correlations to the original and will have your emotions all over the place. Ethan will touch your hear and have you empathizing with all he had to endure to get where he is today. Ms. Lark has masterfully weaved a tale that draws you in and keeps you glued to the pages. This is one that you will not read just once! I voluntarily agreed top ...more

The CEO of Cristo by Sophie Lark was One Fuzzy Feel Good Entertaining Read!

I really enjoyed this story!

Ethan, the H, and Hazel, the h, were so sweet together, I felt myself smiling, and sighing at their connection, and Charlie, the little girl just rounded everything out.

I am so happy that they got their HEA, after all of the hardship, and betrayal that they had to endure, and the additional epilogue was a pleasant surprise!

I throughly disliked Van, the best friend, he is the epitome of what an

This story is very different from what I usually read in that I wasnt sure who to root for in the Van-Hazel-Ethan triangle for several chapters. All I am going to say is that the way the characters are developed and the physical and emotional changes they go through are so raw at times, I could not put the book down.

I can say, without revealing too much, that I shared tears with two of the characters - mostly with Hazel. It is a poignant romance and an intriguing set of circumstances that will

A love story that spans a decade! Emotionally raw! Suspenseful!
Ms. Lark writes tantalizing romance suspense stories. I love her unique brand of writing; her books are incredibly realistic yet imaginative!
I loved Ethan and Hazel together and found their love to be pure and true. Ethan was a good soul but what happened with Van hardened him around the edges, it made him into the man Hazel needed him to be when the time was right. Hazel was a kind spirit with refreshing innocence. What Ethan and

The Count of Monte Cristo comes to life in a modern day rendition of love, betrayal and revenge in the excellent CEO of Cristo.

One woman, two men, her heart belongs to one the other will do anything to make her his.

The story of the CEO of Cristo is told through, Hazel, Ethan and Van over a 7 year period; which I think worked really well and made this epic story come to live. Hazel holds true to herself throughout the story and shows a strong resilient side even when the odds are stacked up and

This is an intriguing and twisted tale of bitterness, obsession and vengeance. Van and Ethan are college roommates and best friends who balance out each others shortcomings. Everything changes though when they both meet Hazel. Its a classic case of I saw her first, but ultimately, its Hazel who decides between the two. Has she chosen wisely?

I enjoyed this well written, entertaining story based on The Count of Monte Cristo. Its told from the three characters POVs and evolves over a period of ten

I LOVED THIS STORY. I normally read-only soft, sexy, happy stories and was surprised as I got into "The CEO of Cristo" that this was going to be different. I am glad I kept reading though because it turned into a UNBELIEVABLE STORY. Lark describes her characters so well that I felt I knew each one of them, that I too was part of this friendship and was with them building the new company. In the beginning, I loved the innocent love between nerdy

This was brilliant. Very intense and riveting. I couldnt stop reading it. The sheer obsession of Van that morphed into out of control rage. The need to keep reading to see what else.. what else was going to happen. My stomach was in knots because you could feel the turmoil Hazel was experiencing. Loved it.

I read and reviewed a copy of this book.

I liked the storyline of the book. There was backstabbing, drama, revenge and romance. A hero to love and a hero to hate. All of those elements should make for a read that's full of highs and lows of emotion.

The first part felt rushed, by the end of a paragraph it would be 3 months later, and that happened repeatedly throughout the first half.

All the elements of a good story are there but that's also what it felt like as you were reading. Someone was there telling you a story. The feelings of

College roommates fall in love with the same girl. She loves one as a friend, the other romantically. Together they found a company. Just before their product is released, one of them kills a co-worker during an argument and frames the other for the murder. To tell more would probably be a spoiler. Suffice to say, there are twists and turns.

Beautifully written, this is a fairly quick read. The author cleverly offers an epilogue, available when you sign on to her email list.

This book was addicting. Lost way too much sleep while being glued to the pages just to see what happened. It's one of those books that I don't want to say too much about and accidentally give away anything important about it, but it was so well written with the absolute best plot you could ask for. So much suspense, raw emotion and revenge. There's deceit and secrets on one side but also love and devotion on another. I loved the characters. There's just so much realness with their story. This book proves that the classics really stand the test of time! Based on the story of The Count of Monte Cristo, this book has all of the amazing characteristcs of the original with a modern twist. An intense story of love and obsession, that shows us just what jealousy can move us to do!

I loved how fleshed out the characters were! Each one had their flaws and their strengths so brilliantly showcased that I honestly wasn't sure how I wanted the book to end at times. A love triangle at its

I received and ARC in exchange for an honest review. What a twisted triable between Van, Ethan and Hazel. I read this Cover to cover. I was on the edge of my seat many times though out this read. I love that at the end they made their way back to each other after everything they went through. Amazing read!!

I've read quite a few books by Sophie Lark, and her writing style has definitely improved since her first release. I really enjoyed this book. It was a very good read.

Van was a very good villain. There was nothing likable about him at all. He was jealous of Ethan because he felt like he got everything in life when he felt like he should have it. He saw Hazel first, but she ended up with Hazel. He is rich, but his father would rather have Ethan as a son. So he sets his best friend up for murder.

Wonderful suspenseful romance!!!

Van met Hazel at a New Year's eve party and thought he had a chance with her, but he finds her later kissing his best friend Ethan. Ethan and Hazel are perfect together and after spending the last two years together developing PayDirt along with their friend Van, Ethan decides to propose to Hazel. Then the unthinkable happens and Ethan ends up accused and convicted of a crime he didn't commit. He gets fifteen years in prison and pushes Hazel away so she can have a

The Count of Monte Cristo has always been one of my favorite books and for years Ive wanted to read a modernized version of the story. I could never figure out personally how the story could be made into a modern story until I read this book.
I LOVED the story and the characters and how everything came together. I dont want to give away any spoilers so Ill just say that everyone needs to do themselves a favor and read this book.

This modern retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo was an pulse pounding tale of murder, jealousy, backstabbing, revenge and love. I was glued to the edge of my seat and I couldn't put the book down!!

I normally love to do a summary recap in my reviews but I feel like this is the kind of story to need to go into blind. What I can tell you is that this story is intense and you will be sucked in and consumed by it. I felt a range of emotions from happy/laughing to straight murderous and pretty much

Love the cover! Love the adaptation! Love the ending! MORE than 5 Stars
This book was sooo good. It is inspired by The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas and diverges enough to make me happy. I suggest either before or after reading this book (which you really MUST do) look at the movie with the actor Jim Caviezel playing the part of the Count. You will see why I am happier with this version. I also like that Ms. Lark has us feel compassion for the oft misunderstood character of Van first,

Superb, the edge of your seat read. I loved this book, just couldn't put it down. It was a romantic, steamy, entrepreneurial, thriller all rolled into one. Each different emotion easily morphed into the story which was written in a wonderful style with eloquent and appropriate vocabulary. The characters were expertly developed and described with a great degree of sympathy and understanding without being judgmental. This was somewhat new, as negative heroes are usually described with disapproving ...more

Ethan is released from prison due to the efforts of the Innocence Project, and begins plotting his revenge. Holy cow - this is one wild ride! This book is about a young woman named Hazel who is loved by two men: Van and Ethan. The three of them start a tech company in which Hazel designs and develops software, while Van does the finances and Ethan does the marketing of the software. So the book starts with Van, a rich college guy with Daddy issues and his roommate Ethan, that brilliantly minded poor guy with a single mum. We see them go to a party and Van meet a girl who challenges him, sparking his interest, only to see her hours later kissing Ethan at the stroke of midnight... and the bitterness starts to fester.

The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorite books of all time. Therefore, I felt the need to read this story and it did not disappoint!

Ethan Hill and Van Kingsley have been friends a long time. They are as different as night and day, one rich, the other poor. One good natured and the other, entitled. Their taste in everything vary greatly, especially women until one day their taste in one particular woman sets them on a cataclysmic journey.

This story is about coveting what someone else has

I LOVE The Count of Monte Cristo, so I LOVED the modern twist on it by Sophie Lark. My emotions were all over the place with just about everyone & their actions, except for Hazel. I really felt like she just ended up in the crossfire of things, which had Ethan sometimes treating her badly. Not saying that I didn't understand some of the trust issues, but they're his issues, so you know. Now, Van, OH MY HELL I WANTED TO SET HIM ON FIRE! I really dont want to give too much away about the storyline of this book as I dont want to ruin any part of this heart stopping book.
This is book is mainly about true love and how can it survive when things happen that are out of your control. And you react to them.
The main characters are Van, Ethan and Hazel. Both Van and Ethan meet Hazel one new years eve but Hazel only falls in love with one of them. And the other one never gives
