Entre nosotras: Una antología
»POETA negra, lesbiana, feminista, socialista, madre de dos», Audre Lorde (Harlem, Nueva York, 1934- 1992) articuló esta multitud en una lírica cotidiana, mezcla de lamento, celebración y canto de guerra. Consciente de que la cultura occidental no sólo es androcéntrica y feminicida, sino racista y homófoba, mostró la interdependencia de estas violencias y se dedicó a denunciarlas, enalteciendo las fuerzas contrarias, siempre oscuras y eróticas y nutricias, y reivindicando la primacía inmemorial de las mujeres en su custodia y expresión. Con todo ello nos recordó que la poesía es ante todo un acto de resistencia. Audre Lorde es, junto a Angela Davis una de las figuras sobresalientes del feminismo afroamericano contemporáneo y precursora, desde la legitimidad que la concede su propia biografía, de la llamada crítica decolonial.

Lorde's poetry was published very regularly during the 1960s — in Langston Hughes' 1962 New Negro Poets, USA; in several foreign anthologies; and in black literary magazines. During this time, she was politically active in civil rights, anti-war, and feminist movements. Her first volume of poetry, The First Cities (1968), was published by the Poet's Press and edited by Diane di Prima, a former classmate and friend from Hunter College High School. Dudley Randall, a poet and critic, asserted in his review of the book that Lorde "does not wave a black flag, but her blackness is there, implicit, in the bone."
Her second volume, Cables to Rage (1970), which was mainly written during her tenure at Tougaloo College in Mississippi, addressed themes of love, betrayal, childbirth and the complexities of raising children. It is particularly noteworthy for the poem "Martha", in which Lorde poetically confirms her homosexuality: "[W]e shall love each other here if ever at all." Later books continued her political aims in lesbian and gay rights, and feminism. Versão Portuguesa: Sr Teste Edições
Comecei por achar que a tradução destes poemas precisava de um par de olhos amigo para a rever, mas com o avançar da leitura percebi que o que falta aqui é um dicionário. Ainda que a Sr Teste esteja a publicar obras de excelentes autores que as grandes editoras ignoram, nada justifica o amadorismo desta tradução, o que talvez não perturbe a maioria dos leitores, mas que me impediu de usufruir verdadeiramente destes poemas ao perceber, mesmo sem o original ao lado, a transposição atabalhoada do inglês.
“Entre Nós”, na falta de outras obras de Audre Lorde traduzidas para português, não deixa de ser um livro importante para quem quer conhecer a mensagem e a luta desta célebre activista e feminista negra.

Quando comprei o The Collected Poems of Audre Lorde há alguns anos imediatamente ela se tornou uma das minhas poetas favoritas da vida, por isso acabei não comprando essa edição com uma coletânea de seus poemas quando finalmente saiu no Brasil, mas como aconteceu com a edição brasileira do Langston Hughes, fiquei intrigada em conhecer o trabalho na tradução das maravilhosas Tatiana Nascimento e Valéria Lima, com revisão de Jess Oliveira.
Essa edição da Bazar do Tempo é bilíngue, ou seja, quem ainda não tem o inglês aprimorado pode se valer da ótima tradução e quem já o sabe pode também ver também a essência do que foi feito no idioma próprio.

This collection is extremely short, consisting of only seven poems, although those poems are longer than many of Lorde's tend to be. It's also powerful and brutal and angry, full of imagery of death, despair, emptiness, suffering, outrage...all juxtaposed with the breathtaking beauty of Lorde's writing. The first poem, Power, is incredible--horrifying and heartbreaking and based on Lorde's reaction to a real event in which a police officer was acquitted of shooting and killing a 10-year-old boy (Clifford Glover) in 1974--and still ridiculously relevant today:
The difference between poetry and rhetoric
is being ready to kill
yourself
instead of your children.
I am trapped on a desert of raw gunshot wounds
and a dead child dragging his shattered black
face off the edge of my sleep
blood from his punctured cheeks and shoulders
is the only liquid for miles
and my stomach
churns at the imagined taste while
my mouth splits into dry lips
without loyalty or reason
thirsting for the wetness of his blood
as it sinks into the whiteness
of the desert where I am lost
without imagery or magic
trying to make power out of hatred and destruction
trying to heal my dying son with kisses
only the sun will bleach his bones quicker.
A policeman who shot down a ten year old in Queens
stood over the boy with his cop shoes in childish blood
and a voice said “Die you little motherfucker” and
there are tapes to prove it. At his trial
this policeman said in his own defense
“I didn't notice the size nor nothing else
only the color”. And
there are tapes to prove that, too.
Today that 37 year old white man
with 13 years of police forcing
was set free
by eleven white men who said they were satisfied
justice had been done
and one Black Woman who said
“They convinced me” meaning
they had dragged her 4'10'' black Woman's frame
over the hot coals
of four centuries of white male approval
until she let go
the first real power she ever had
and lined her own womb with cement
to make a graveyard for our children.
I have not been able to touch the destruction
within me.
But unless I learn to use
the difference between poetry and rhetoric
my power too will run corrupt as poisonous mold
or lie limp and useless as an unconnected wire
and one day I will take my teenaged plug
and connect it to the nearest socket
raping an 85 year old white woman
who is somebody's mother
and as I beat her senseless and set a torch to her bed
a greek chorus will be singing in 3/4 time
“Poor thing. She never hurt a soul. What beasts they are.”
I was tempted to move onto Lorde's next collection immediately after finishing this one because it was over so quickly, but I find I'm needing more time with it, to reread and to process and to reflect.

Una antología que recoge poemas desde 1968 a 1993. En ellos la humanidad, la dedicación a la lucha social y al movimiento Lgtbi se ven manifestados en versos cargados de valor, dolor y lucha. Versos que te desgarran al leerlos.
Sus poemas llegan al alma, reflejan una sociedad y un tiempo en el que el heteropatriarcado blanco era la única opción y ser mujer negra lesbiana, como en su caso, era ser un despojo de la sociedad. Pero ahi en sus versos sale la fuerza, las ganas de ver un mundo lleno de posibilidades para todos, de convivencia en paz.

Audre Lorde es increíble, brava entre bravas, su poesía quema. Aquí nos encontramos con algunos poemas bellísimos que retratan fielmente el carácter contestatario, el enorme poderío de los versos de la autora. Pero siento que a está antología le falta algo. No sé si es la selección de poemas, la traducción o simplemente el sinsentido de no incluir los originales en inglés cuando en la primeras páginas te advierten que la traducción no hace honores a los poemas originales. ?¿ Aún así merece la pena, pero recomiendo para adentrarse en la poesía de la autora en español comenzar con la edición de Torremozas de ‘El unicornio negro’.

Estaría en un 3,5-4; hay algunos poemas que me han impactado muchísimo y otros que me dejaban tal cual, pero creo que el principal problema estaba en la traducción. Aún así, como antología, cumple un poco su función y te da pie a conocer un poco de la autora y saber por dónde querrías empezar a leerla. Me dejo pendiente los libros de Coal, Between Our Selves y From a Land where other people live.

Creo que parte de la potencia se pierde en la traducción, que en sí no me parece mala. Pero se transparenta una fiereza y una vitalidad increíbles.

La traducción me ha chirriado un poco, pero aun así ha sido inevitable quedar fascinado por la voz de Lorde, que transita de lo lírico a lo conversacional incluso de un verso a otro. “Equinoccio”, de «From a Land Where Other People Live» (1973), y “Poema para un poeta”, de «Cables to Rage» (1970), son dos de los mejores poemas que he leído.

Fui completamente arrebatada pela Audre Lorde!
Alguns dos poemas preferidos foram "Espelhos bons não são baratos", "Sinais", "Os ventos da Orixá", "Irmã, amanhã é tempo de milagres" e "Precisar: Um coro para vozes de Mulheres Negras".

Una pasada. Desde los poemas más intimistas hasta los más políticos -como si en la obra de Lorde hubiese alguna diferencia- todos presentan una potencia increíble. La única pega que esta antología no es bilingüe y los he tenido que leer traducidos.

Entre nosotras es una antología poética publicada en el 2020 que recoge una selección de los versos de Audre Lorde escritos entre 1968 y 1993. Son poemas que reflejan la visión del mundo de la poeta, sus ansias guerreras, su lucha contra el racismo, su activismo feminista y por los derechos humanos, sus ansias sexoafectivas, su concepción de la maternidad, su resistencia a la enfermedad y su diversidad en todas sus facetas.

Eu amo a escrita da Audre Lorde porque ela me lembra dos poemas e das lutas que a Maya Angelou também passou. a diferença entre ambas é que a Audre é uma rebelde revolucionária e eu AMO quando ela disseca o ódio, a fome de liberdade, equidade e mais direitos para os seus. Gostaria muito que outras mulheres pudessem ler dos poemas da Audre e conseguissem enxergar o mundo sobre uma nova ótica!

Her writing style is very noticeably different. She is more direct in her political expressions, reducing metaphors and maximising impact. Her usage of visceral imagery is a step up from her earlier works.

O maior símbolo de revolução, revolta e afronta social é a mulher negra lésbica. Primeiro, por ser mulher é estar pré-definida, no imaginário como nascida no sexo errado, segundo por ser negra o que já coloca ela como um alvo de violências raciais de todos os lados e por último ser lésbica, redefinindo o patriarcado e destituindo as amarras que o machismo de maneira coercitiva impõe. Audre Lorde se mostra um ímpeto cultural, uma força da natureza literária-poética que fica colo referência e motivação para as novas gerações políticas que estão por vir. Seus poemas tem em sua conjectura não só o objetivo de informar e do relato, mas sim de ser a pulsão de uma nova geração de mentes políticas e ideias. Os poemas vão desde relatos e alarmes sobre a situação precária que as mulheres lésbicas vêm enfrentando até mesmo textos de motivação e troca de saberes entre o ancestralidade e a atualidade cruel. Um ótimo livro, uma ótima coletânea de poemas e uma ótima forma de ver o mundo a partir de outros olhos, outras histórias e outras vidas.

Primeiro, por ser mulher é estar pré-definida, no imaginário como nascida no sexo errado, segundo por ser negra o que já coloca ela como um alvo de violências raciais de todos os lados e por último ser lésbica, redefinindo o patriarcado e destituindo as amarras que o machismo de maneira coercitiva impõe. Audre Lorde se mostra um ímpeto cultural, uma força da natureza literária-poética que fica colo referência e motivação para as novas gerações políticas que estão por vir. Seus poemas tem em sua conjectura não só o objetivo de informar e do relato, mas sim de ser a pulsão de uma nova geração de mentes políticas e ideias. Os poemas vão desde relatos e alarmes sobre a situação precária que as mulheres lésbicas vêm enfrentando até mesmo textos de motivação e troca de saberes entre o ancestralidade e a atualidade cruel. Um ótimo livro, uma ótima coletânea de poemas e uma ótima forma de ver o mundo a partir de outros olhos, outras histórias e outras vidas.

Con Zami, el libro que escribió también Audre Lorde, conecté muchísimo y en cambio con esta antología de poemas suyos, nada. Quizá he echado de menos a la Lorde lesbiana por encima de otras vivencias suyas.
