Gacy's Ghost: Hunting the Spirit of a Serial Killer

Rate this book
When John Wayne Gacy, one of America's most depraved serial killers, went to his death by lethal injection in 1994, that ought to have been the end of it. It wasn't. More than 20 years later, psychic mediums looking into claims of paranormal activity in an old Illinois movie theater are shocked to discover that it is haunted by a man who goes by the name of John...and appears as a leering clown. Why would the ghost of a murderer prowl the hallways of the R Theater? What will happen when veteran researcher Brad Klinge decides to confront Gacy, attempting to inflame his anger and draw him out? A team of paranormal investigators will lock themselves in with him in an attempt to establish contact with this aggressive spirit -- and get more than they bargained for. Join author/investigator Richard Estep of TV's Haunted Hospitals, Paranormal 911, and Haunted Case Files, as he sets out to find the truth behind this remarkable haunting.

I'm a 48-year-old child who has no plans to ever actually grow up.

I make my living as a paramedic, clinical educator, for a busy hospital system and work as a street medic in a 911 system.

In my free time, I serve as the director of the Boulder County Paranormal Research Society, and investigate claims of haunted properties, people, and objects on both sides of the Atlantic. I love to read, particularly SF/Fantasy, history and historical fiction, the paranormal, and basically anything that piques my interest. I appear on the TV shows Haunted Hospitals, Paranormal 911, Paranormal Night Shift, Haunted Case Files, and several others.

I am an avid video gamer, table-top gamer, and love to build Lego. My wife and I are the proud humans of five adopted rescue cats and one smelly but adorable dog.

I enjoy reading about Richard & Co’s investigations. It makes a refreshing change for a team to stay level headed and debunk a lot of things other teams wouldn’t.
And the fact it’s about a supposed ghost of a serial killer drew me to it even more. Two of my favourite subjects in one book!

A Solid Investigation

I've been a paranormal investigator for over forty years. Richard's investigations combine teamwork, technical skills, listening to that inner voice and what it tells you. There's the crucial skepticism that requires questioning every bit of evidence and every experience to find an explanation for it before determining that it may be paranormal.

Richard's voice is heard throughout the book as he examines what he and his team found. You can easily see yourself going alongside the team in the days and nights they spent looking for Gacy's ghost. He explains his thinking and the team's conclusions all along the way.

This is another excellent Richard Estep investigation that you really can't out down.

Grabs you right away

You know you’re are in for a good read when the Forward causes the hair on the back of your neck to stand up. Richard Estep continues to prove why he is one of the best authors in the Paranormal field. Gacy’s Ghost is the result of Richard and his team’s investigation into whether it’s possible that the ghost of serial killer John Wayne Gacy could be haunting an old movie theatre hundreds of miles from where the notorious murders took place. As with all his books, Richard shares his results and gives the reader both sides what the results could mean. This is what makes Richard a leader in his field.

Very Interesting Read!

I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves the paranormal. I've read several of the books by Richard and he is very knowledgeable on the subject. A plus to this book though is the intertwining of a serial killer and the mystery of why he is haunting this particular location. I also love how this author adds extras in his books of paranormal shows to go and watch to add to the learning experience. I definitely will be reading more of his books!

Captivating!

If you ever wanted to experience a paranormal investigation without leaving your home, pick this book up. The author is open minded, humorous, and thoughtful. He manages to make you feel like you are right there with them as the group investigates The R.

The idea of Gacy hanging around after death is creepy and fascinating. This book was very informative, and entertaining. I can’t wait for the next case/book!

I read this book in one sitting (Long road trip) and based on past positive experiences I decided to pick up this book that discusses the famous serial killer called John Wayne Gacy. You know you're in for a good read when the forward causes the hair on the back of your neck to stand up. It was really cool to read about an investigation while getting the feeling that I’m along for the ride while still getting a history lesson on Gacy’s ghost.

Decent

Richard Estes has become one of my go to authors. He lets the readers come to their own conclusions based off the evidence him and his team collects. This was a decent read but, not as good as his other books. I would recommend some of his other books to new readers first before picking this one up.

Lots to think about....

Interesting book and, as the author recommends, well worth watching the documentary discussed. Refreshing to hear someone considering all possible explanations. Without spoiling this for anyone wanting to read it, the final incident in this book convinces me! Eeeek....... Thank you for an enjoyable and interesting read!

Interesting Read

This book made me think twice about receiving a second hand item or furniture. I do have a weak spot for antiques imagine the stories they could tell. Unfortunately this is a story and piece of furniture I wouldn't want. Once again I enjoyed Richard's book and plan to read more about his paranormal investigations.

I absolutely enjoy all of Richard Estep's books. They're very
interesting. I like the way he investigates each haunted
place. No muss, no fuss! Just straight up investigating! I still
have a few of his books to read yet and I'm definitely looking
forward to them. I also enjoy his Haunted Hospitals show.

Most are familiar with the crimes of John Wayne Gacy. The twisted nature of his crimes have not gone without many writing about it, documentaries, and so many other medias. His crimes shocked the nation - especially over the ages of many of his victims.

This was an interesting read, with the history and paranormal investigations. Enjoyable read.

Gary’s Ghost -another enthralling account

Richard Estep is a terrific author and investigator of all things haunted. I’ve read many of his books and cannot wait to go to these places myself. I live near Denver and all of the information about the Botanic Gardens and the Waring House are enthralling.

Not dramatized. Truthful. Skeptical yet open minded. I always like Richards books because of this. I always say. When a book makes me search for new people and new different books it’s a success. I liked it. We need more people like him in the paranormal field

Very good

Great investigation, although it seemed from the reviews and description that they got more evidence than they ended up getting.

I loved this book. Gacy is so creepy, I can’t imagine having something he owned sitting in my house. My favorite thing is Richard’s description of Brad Klinge verbally harassing Gacy to illicit a response from him during the investigation and the humor sprinkled throughout the book.
