For Penny and Carter, it’s always been about passion…and politics. Struggling with recent developments, Carter decides to take a break from her involvement in the latter. Penny, like her employees, is worried about her wife’s new, somewhat fatalistic attitude, and she tries her best to both do her job, and show Carter that they can still impact a change for the better. Meanwhile, a mysterious competitor makes life even more complicated for Penny and Carter—but it would be a mistake to underestimate either of them…
Raven J. Spencer, lesbian, married, loves everything sensual and indulgent which led her to write erotic romance and fantasies. When she's not writing, you can often find her on Pinterest in the pursuit of inspiration.
I loved everything in this billionaire romance. Well, romance is maybe not the right word because it is much more than that. The main characters, Penny and Carter are an amazing couple. They complement each other perfectly. Their love is strong, full of passion and very playful. Especially in the bedroom. The storyline is fascinating. It's about challenges, an old secret that could ruin everything, revenge and so much more. Quitting is not an option but making a difference is. I will definitely read this series again.
A short book about power and politics as seen through the lens of Carter and Penny.
Borderline picks up after the political debacle of the 2016 election. Carter has soured on trying to achieve meaningful change in light of "The Great Backlash." Her business interests are also threatened by an underhanded competitor. She just wants to escape from it all and leave the workload to her staff. Penny reacts decisively and is willing to do anything for her wife.
Spencer spends equal time exploring the loving nature of their marriage. A power exchange, coupled with clear limits, defines their relationship in the bedroom. Carter and Penny welcome the complexities of their mutual appetites. They want only each other and don't choose to share the details of intimate connection with others.
Borderline is not lightweight reading. The issues played out in public are very serious. The sex scenes between Penny and Carter provide a contrasting intensity. Emotions are running high and drastic changes are under consideration. I like these characters and have read each addition to the series. The story is sometimes stark, but it's always interesting.
Penny and Carter are a favorite couple of mine and I was excited to read more about them. This story didn't disappoint and I hope to read more about them.
“In this day, we have to be extra vigilant, not give any leeway to abusers who feel however righteous.”
“Because of men who feel that equality is a bad word, that it’s taking something from them they think they rightfully own—and women who go along, never question.”
“There is no proof that humanity is going forward. The human mind can come up with amazing things, inventions, achievements, but it can’t seem to figure out how we can live together respectfully.”
“If you fight bigotry on every level, and it always begins with misogyny, the old structures will start to crumble eventually.” + • + • + • +
Talk about going out with a bang— couldn't be any better way to conclude this awesome romantic mystery thriller!
An emotional & entertaining story with characters that become so authentic they truly become like real people in your mind & a riveting plot lines that draws you in so effortlessly & subtly without you even noticing.
It was just so realistic & relatable… I most definitely affected & appreciated the rawness, vulnerability & innocence in how it was approached without distorting, distracting &/or diluting the domestic violence, sexual harassment & breakup violence themes about the dangers & dehumanizing women bear in this misogynistic society!!
I honestly can read about Penny and Carter all the time. There is just something so good and grand with these two. This story started a little slower than the others but once the engine kicked in gear we were flying through another great adventure. This one of Carter’s psyche. The fact that Penny finally figured how to reach her and make her understand they both had to be all in. Then this story has no choice but to be a winner. I hope this is not the end of this couple. I can definitely see so much more happening in their future. Great Job Raven J Spencer!
Penny and Carter's love story continues! These strong women saving women that can't save themselves , is one of my favorite storylines! Thanks for continuing their adventures, Raven!
Another delightful book in the Surrender series. Carter struggles with their mission of helping women in dire situations. Penny comes up with a plan to rejuvenate Carter’s passion for the mission. An enjoyable read!
I’m glad that Penny is able to get Carter back on track. I wish their was more about the issues Carter was having/feeling. The book felt very vague and I felt like I was missing part of the important pieces.
An excellent story about the impact of certain political events on the psyche of someone who is trying to make a difference. As ever with Ms Spencer, there’s angst and misunderstandings and lots of love. I’m moving on to read the Limelight series and then the crossover novels…
Such a sweet simple read, I still managed to tear a bit. I must say the writer is really getting a hand on that change in perspective. Commendable and drool worthy manipulation of prose
I love Penny and Carter and I'm so glad that their story still speaks to Ms. Spencer. This story is all about how importance the of support in a relationship. This is not just for romantic relationships. It was amazing to to see everyone pitch in and pick up the slack when Carter was emotionally incapable of carrying on certain parts of her business. We got to see Penny's and Carter's relationship through a different lens. Pictures we will never grow tired of looking at.
