This is the second book in the Edie’s Experiments series and it was sent to me for review.
Edie is in year 5 and absolutely loves Science. She also loves a bit of competition so she’s thrilled when the school decides to run an Eco Fair and is determined to win. But her success is threatened by the return to school of Dean, who had been attending the Science Academy and turns out to be her arch nemesis.
I know middle school readers are willing to suspend their disbelief more effectively than me, but the plot of this book was more than a bit ridiculous and the characters were mostly unkind and unrealistic. Plus... absolutely nothing anyone did was ‘actually’ Science, which super-annoyed me.
Side note: I really did love Flett’s illustrations and, as a consequence of reading this book, have discovered her drawing classes on YouTube, so that makes me happy.
