Why should you read this book?

Valid question. Why with all the hundreds of thousands of good books to read should this little book make the list? I don't know if I have the perfect answer to that question, but I'll give it my best.

To the right reader, Legend of the Storm Sneezer is going to be a book full of belly laughs. It's going to be a book stacked with oddball, stereotype-smashing characters who celebrate beautiful friendships and the power of compassion. It's going to be a book that combi

Hands down, this book is amazing!

Richly creative, laugh-out-loud funny, and the perfect sprinkling of spooky, Legend of the Storm Sneezer is seriously one of my favorite books of 2020! From the beginning of the book (like page four beginning), I was already laughing and it continued to be such a joy to read! (There was MUCH laughter.)

Rose is an excellent main character that knows when to pull your heart strings and then you have smiling next. Throw

Kristiana Sfirlea’s debut novel The Stormwatch Diaries: Legend of the Storm Sneezer is a middle grade fantasy adventure of angels and legends, epic wars and budding friendships, and umbrellas and tutus.

In the first two chapters, Rose Skylar is a young angel who will grow up to the prominent position of Dame Commander of Pandrum, a land in the world of Shaolandir. She’s also fascinated with legends of her world’s past as documented in the book “Blackout’s Tales.” She meets another angel, a tall,

An absolutely stunning debut! Whimsical, magical, and told with an unmistakeably unique voice, this tale is certain to delight readers of all ages.

Sfirlea’s vibrant characters leap off the page, each one specially crafted and fascinating. Her lead, Rose, is quirky, witty, and altogether lovable, and the reader can’t help but love Marek as much as Rose does. The cast of minor characters who are just as fascinating as the leads is reminiscent of the quality character development of Rowling’s Harry

If books were rides, children would line up out the door for this roller coaster of imagination. Brilliantly funny, Kristiana Sfirlea’s middle-grade debut novel swerves the reader through a magical time travel tale of future and past selves. Ghostly, yet whimsical, the pages bubble with great quotes and moments of truly funny observations. The quirky, tongue in cheek narrator who guides the reader through the story is so hysterical, I caught myself laughing aloud several times. Whatever you do, ...more

You cannot help but fall in love with this story. The author has one of the most unique voices I've ever found in middle grade fiction, ever, and you will laugh, cry, and want to wear a tutu. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars, but for now, 5 stars will suffice. ...more

This book is something special. Every page is intricately written in such a way that you can enjoy it lightly, or dive into each sentence and explore each word. The characters are so multi-dimensional, they're like old friends you can continue learning new things about, even after ten years. The plot is so freshingly creative and yet grounded enough to be comfortable; almost familiar. Every chapter leaves you asking "where on Earth did she come up with that?"

When your eight-year-old, who is afraid of Harry Potter needs to stay awake and read one more chapter of this delightfully spooky and mesmerizing tale, you know you have a winner. Kristiana Sfirlea is a debut author to watch for. Her writing style is entirely unique and relatable to young and old. My daughter and I can't wait for #2 in this series! ...more

This is a LITERARY MASTERPIECE. There were so many lines I wanted to highlight or jot down. One of my favorite things about this book is even though it’s middle grade, I felt like it was deep enough to not only grab the attention of but challenge an adult. The very subtle parallels of Christ’s sacrifice stole my heart, and I absolutely LOVE Rose’s “rosy” outlook on life. And Marek—oh, how I love thee, Marek!

Kristiana Sfirlea knocked it out of the park with her debut novel Legend of the Storm Sneezer. This story marries multiple genres into one brilliant story with time travel, ghosts, angels, and so much more. The MC, Rose, stole my heart. I cheered her on from page one.

Sfirlea did such an outstanding job with book one that I cannot wait to see what she does in the next installment.

A little bit Dr Who, a little bit Buffy, a whole lot of fun. This is a really charming book with so much energy and voice jumping off every page, and characters to match. So much fun to read!

I found The Legend of the Storm Sneezer completely captivating. The whimsical humor in it alone tops any comparable book. (Not one or two laughs per page, but too many to count.) The story also excelled in creativity. I didn’t think I’d find another world as surprising and magical as Harry Potter, but author Sfirlea. pulls it off in this book. Plus the whole story pivots around a mystery. Sfirlea wove all three—humor, magic, and mystery—into a well-crafted tale. I know it’s a middle grade novel, ...more

Middle grade is typically not one of my favorite genres, but I really enjoyed this fun read!
The characters were great! Each character was so fun and they were all so well developed. I think that kids would love to get to know Marek and Rose as they go on their adventure.
The world was so fun and unique! Kristiana did a fantastic job keeping a fun balance of spooky and whimsical. She created an iconic world that I will not soon fo

This book was an absolute delight to read! It's quirky and spooky, but has humor in all the right places. I loved Rose instantly with her strange but loveable personality (we're all a little more odd than we'd like to admit, right?) And I loved how Rose was always comfortable with who she was, even if that meant she was different.
I still can't decide whether Marek or Gormonger was my favorite character. It's hard to choose between a maple syrup addict and a loud, obnoxious ghost wolf. 😂

My 12 year old daughter and I both adore this book! There is no way you can read The Legend of the Storm Sneezer and not want to visit the topsy turvy library, or snuggle up in Rose's room under her magical mobile. Rose is witty, fun, and exactly who you want to go on an adventure with. This hits that sweet spot of older kids who want longer stories but aren't quite ready for YA books. ...more

As a former school librarian I am always excited to read new books for an underserved audience. Kristiana Sfirlea’s new middle grade fantasy novel The Legend of the Storm Sneezer is the first book in The Stormwatch Diaries series and I had hopes this series would be great for young teens.
Time travel fiction is something I have always enjoyed. Unfortunately there wasn’t as much time travel in The Legend of the Storm Sneezer as I would have liked. The time travel consists mostly of letters writte

First, I have to say that I’m one of those people that do not celebrate Halloween at all. We don’t do ghosts or haunted houses, etc. So this is a book that would immediately be on the unsure shelf in our house. Which means that I have to read it before any of the kids can.

That being said, I read this book. I think the author did an amazing job writing the book. It is a great book that reads quickly, keeps you entertained, and makes you want to keep reading until the whole book is done.

The first words I though of as I finished the book were whimsical, friendship, imagination and endearing. If ever there was a character I wanted to be it would be Rose. I loved her so much and I easily related to her. She is such a darling thing that longs for acceptance and friends. The magical “ Stormy” is quite something.
Marek is just what Rose needs as her best friend. Now here is where I pondered a question for quite awhile. Is Marek real or is he imagined by Rose? After all she so wants s

Lots of heart in this series opener, with quirky characters and a fresh storyline.

What I enjoyed:
Lovable characters in a school of magic quickly grabs my attention. I appreciated how the author wanted the journey to remain lighthearted and comical. After a few chapters of introduction and setting the stage, the story picks up around chapter 12 when the main character is introduced to a whole new world outside her family. The idea of a potentially imaginary best friend / sidekick worked well, k

The premise of this book really drew me in. I mean, time travel and ghosts in middle grade fantasy? I had to check it out. Am I glad I did? You bet your ectoplasm pants I am!

I can honestly say I’ve never read anything like it. Targeted at 10-12 year olds, I wondered just how scary the story might be, in case you have that same worry, let me reassure you, it isn’t scary.

Hilarious to the point that I often found myself cracking up and having to stop reading while I wiped away tears? Yes.

This book is both fun and leaves you on the edge of your seat. I liked the way the author wrote it-she would narrate, but also break off to speak directly to the reader, making it feel like you were a part of it. She never left the reader out of the journey.

Rose’s character was fun and loveable. She has such a sweet nature and her enthusiasm just flows from the pages. And I thought her “soul signia” was cool: storm. Not only does she get to have a pet storm cloud-which, until I read this book, I

The Legend of the Storm Sneezer is the first book in The Stormwatch Diaries series. This is also the authors debut novel. What a fun book to read with my 9 year old. Colton and I laughed a lot with this book. This book is part fantasy, mystery, adventure, scary story, comedy - all rolled into one. This book is geared towards middle grades, but as an adult I enjoyed reading it also.

Legend of the Storm Sneezer begins Kristiana Sfirlea’s The Stormwatch Diaries series. It is, also, my first introduction to her work. I adored this book! It was so full of fun and entertainment. It had some quite funny scenes that made me laugh so hard. Rose’s story was a pleasure to read. I did not want to put it down until the very end. It was that good. I am so glad I had the opportunity to read it.

I am giving Legend of the Storm Sneezer a very well deserved five plus stars. I would be inter

This is a middle grade fiction book, but don't let that stop you from picking it up. The author does a fabulous job finding a unique voice for her characters and taking off! I loved the characters she created. I think Marek was my favorite, but it could have been Rose....or any number of others!
I loved that I can't stick with one particular type of book for this. It has a mix of a lot of different kinds of books. Mystery, fantasy, adventure. All were there and more. This is a book I will happily

Wow! Wow! Wow! This book is an adventure itself.

Firstly, the writing style is so different or should I say unique? It was like a conversational, diary style of writing with twists and plot suitable for a middle grade fantasy novel.

I love the characters in this book. You will definitely have favourites.

The title suits this book perfectly and the book cover is cool.

Happy squeals, I loved this book! From the well-done world-building to the humor and fantastic uplifting story; I'm now happily following this author. Rose is fantastic and Marek amazing. This is a book for all ages, but you could start with middle-grades. (Keep away from beverages while reading, those surprise laughs can be dangerous otherwise.) This is a well-told, creative, and delightful tale. I couldn't decide if incorporating interspersed comments from a group of future main character selves was a plus or a minus. Though creative and unique, it tended to pull me out of the main story but added a dimension of light humor in the midst of darker scenes. An interesting mix of a light-hearted middle grade tale with a depth that seems more suited to an older audience Legend of the Storm Sneezed did keep me involved. I do, however, questi ...more

The Legend of the Storm Sneezer is an interesting, futuristic book. Set around a petrified forest the book focuses on family expections, abilities, hopes and dreams. One setting is a library obstacle course where “Bookcases hung from the tall ceiling like bats in a cave, encircled by rope bridges for readers to walk while they perused the shelves. Readers whizzed, flailing and straining, overhead, books tucked under their arms or between their teeth. Go find something you like. But do stretch fi ...more

Kristiana Sfirlea knows what it means to get in character. Working at a haunted house attraction, she played a jumping werewolf statue, a goblin in a two-way mirror, and a wall-scratcher — so if she’s standing very still, growling, checking her reflection, or filing her nails on your wall, be alarmed. Those are hard habits to break.
