This is one of my go-to cookbooks. It's interesting, with lots of historical bits and pieces from Canada's past. I really wish they'd update and re-release it. My copy is very battle-worn, always a sign of an amazing cookbook.
After years in a old-age "home" jail lost my kitchen, over 100 cookbooks, and family recipes, I returned to my life-long love of baking and eating fresh home-made goodies. Luckily this book has mostly replaced five generations of heritage treats. When wars and deprivation and health obsession fads remove real butter, sugar, flour and backyard henhouse eggs, somebody has to remind tastebuds what flavor is. Recipes are irreplaceable treasure, more important than books.
