A manifestation of guilt told with no words, only pictures, that is equal parts surreal and absurd. It's a pretty heavy-going comic in terms of story but it is visually arresting. Not many people will like it's wordlessness, or the fact that is is heavily metaphorical, but it is worth it for those who do. An intriguing 'read' that will no doubt give more the more you go back to it.

O no.

I could've done so much better by making it less supernatural-interpretive. Especially cutting all that semen and blood magic that was stupid and unnecessary.

The second star is only because he did a good job of making wordless flow correctly with an engaging character and told a story that COULD have been so much better. It's bounds better than that "Glacial Period" disaster that opened the "Louvre Collection". He couldn't even give that one an ending.

I don't understand why people laud this dude- especially his art which I regard as a sloppy mess of unsuccessful expressionisticness. But I know nothing of the architecture of art and what to specifically look for.

Wait a minute! I did enjoy the "Salvatore" diptyque but I remember that it really went nowhere despite interesting adventuring.

I can say little as to the symbolism or greater meaning of this BD—well, I'd be hard pressed to even say what the plot was—but still I liked it merely for the sheer emotional weight de Crécy was able to convey with his haunting, radical art. Much of it went over my head, but, hey, that just added to the sense of visiting an art gallery.

I can't give this a score (not because I didn't like it)

I'm just not sure what I've read. Well, I've read nothing because it's a mute comic book but still...

I don't know, this is just really, really weird and I'm trying to wrap my head around it

English version below
Tvrdí to obsáhlá předmluva.

Jakou roli v tom všem hraje prosopopus?

Prosopopus is an animal that no one can recognize even when they see it. Six pages long foreword claims it. It is said that it looks like a bear with a big butt, eyes that look human, and three teeth in its mouth. It is said it's white, or rather yellow, and it is said taht it eats exclusively men. He doesn't eat dogs at all, he's friends with them. And he is also very revengeful. A very dangerous animal!

Prosopopus is a very dark and brutal grotesque. Without words of course. Noir crime with fantasy elements. The story begins by shooting. One guy kills another guy who is being escorted into a car by bodyguards. After the shot, the bodyguards try to stop the killer, he is slightly injured, but still runs to his lover. On the same night, the essence of blood of killer and victim and also of a drop of sperm rises to the sky above the city, to mix with the tobacco smoke in the clouds and materialize into the prosopopus. He immediately heads to the killer's apartment and starts behaving very cuddly and one might even say friendly. He will definitely not let himself be banished.
What preceded the murder, what role did anyone play in it? Who deserves a merciless bizarre revenge? What role does the prosopopus play in all this? You will learn that in the book. Get ready for a brutal but funny ride.

I've not been looking for Nicolas de Crécy's comics until now. His art style and stories didn't really appeal to me. But I couldn't miss his silent comic. I have to say that his drawing fits perfectly to this story. As for the script, some places were confusing and felt a bit unnecessary, and in other places I would have appreciated if the panels were more explanatory. But generally, it worked as it is.

this is an interesting book about guilt. it's also a murder thriller without any words. I liked it but it's a bit style over substance.

Truly brilliant in every way! I could re-read this a million times. The way he uses this silent graphic novel to tell a wonderful story with so much depth and suspense and surprise. There are so many layers to this novel, and more reveals itself the more time you spend within its pages. You can feel the guilt building and welling and exuding from the pages themselves. A dark, disturbing and brilliant novel.
