Charming but outdated (though not always in a bad sense). A few interesting tidbits of folk history and mythology as it relates to endemic birds of Hawai’i. Fantastic illustrations. Overall a pleasant, quick overview but not a great source for current or specific information.

Didn't love it or hate it.
It was probably a really great book at the time 30-40 years ago.
However, it was a pretty bland writing style of just describing the same things for each bird in sentences instead of showing them in a little table of some sort. The illustrations are quite nice and some of the details were interesting to see how/why birds got to Hawaii.
