I really enjoyed this fun little audiobook! It features 2 stand alone novellas, Your French Kisses and Too Good to be True, and 4 different incredible narrators.
Your French Kisses This instalove/second chance romance is about Marley and Reid. Shane East and Erin Mallon were amazing! They both do male and female voices and accents so well and they captured all the excitement and possibility of new love, but also the heartbreak of terrible timing. I'm not normally a fan of instalust/love books, but this one really worked and I couldn't help but get swept up in Marley and Reid's romance. The book features both of their POV's and is told in the past and present.
Too Good to be True This was another instalove romance and featured Herb and Olivia. Both have some relationship baggage to deal with, but when they're set up by a matchmaker, the sparks fly! Andi Arndt and Joe Arden narrate this novella wonderfully, and I don't think I will ever get tired of hearing their voices (along with Shane East and Erin Mallon). All four give stellar performances and Lauren Blakely continues to consistently choose the most perfect narrators for her books.
It's always difficult for me to love a short story. I never expect a lot from them but wow, Your French Kisses was really good. Part of the book happened in Paris and for once, none of the french mentions made me cringe. It was so cute and I easily got into it. I was rooting for the characters and when they said goodbyes to each other two years ago, I kind of teared up. Yeah... I'm a softie. This book wasn't about the smut and I loved that. I'm way more interested in Lauren Blakely's novellas now. I'll be checking out what she has on Audible Escape.
Awh, this was a cute short story! Sometimes with novellas I struggle because I feel like there isn't enough time to develop the plot and everything is such a rush. This book did a great job of coming up with a good reason for why Marley and Reid have a quick romance, they only have one day until their flights leave. They click immediately, but they both have other commitments and decide to leave it up to fate.
I thought this was adorable and Reid and Marley were good together. I loved the happy ending and that everything works out. Sometimes you just need a sweet romance to make you smile.
For me Lauren Blakely is the Queen of short stories 🥰 even though I knew this was a short one it was too cute not to want more hence the 4 stars. I love how sincere and honest the characters were. And the narrators the best! I didn’t knew how much I’ve missed Shane East ♥️♥️
A delightful novella about one perfect day with a dreaming man and beautiful woman in Paris that they are both wistfully thinking about 3 years later wondering if they will ever meet again. The perfect short romance to while away an afternoon listening too that will leave you feeling warm inside.
4 stars. This sweet novella proofed that love doesn't know time or place, it just overwhelms our hearts with feelings that are definitely priceless. I really loved this comforting read.
If you read One Night Stand-In, you might remember the sweet and charming Brit, Reid and Peyton's manager at the lingerie store, Marley. Peyton knows Marley has a thing for British men, but not really why. And Reid is searching for a certain girl.
This is a story of kismet, fate, timing, and second-chances. It is about that once in a lifetime connection that has a much too soon end time. And trying to hold onto it could just cause distractions in the present and future. But sometimes those meetings and connections stick with you. And you are always hoping that fate will smile on you again.
I loved Reid and Marley. They are fun, flirty, witty, and wear their hearts on their sleeve. They try to be no-nonsense and realistic when they want to get pulled away by romance and passion. But they also believe in the magic of true connections and soul mates.
And that is what this short story is about. It is sweet, funny, romantic, and smile-inducing. And it leaves you believing in love and possibilities.
I swear all the feels; I was rooting so hard for this couple. Sometimes when you meet someone you just KNOW you meet someone that is going to change your life. But they might have come into our life at a wrong time. But Fate can be a funny thing and give you a second chance.
The second novella was sweet and gives us a story about taking a chance on love even when you have been burned before.
I really enjoyed these characters they were witty and the connection was sweet, I wanted to be Olivia’s bestie! Loved the narration it was exactly what these stories needed.
This is a mixed bag for me. I love Shane East’s narration (Erin’s was okay) but I find his short story lacking in heat. There’s not enough Carpe Diem in it to suit my taste.
The second one, I like the premise but it sounds slightly inauthentic. Joe’s female voice is not sexy to me.
That was surprisingly poetic, incredibly corny, and a nice lil read. None of it was realistic in the slightest but it was cute and romantic so it gets a pass.
Sometimes, all you need is a handful of minutes to realize that what you have in your hands--what you're currently experiencing--is special. Lauren Blakely's Your French Kisses is exactly that. Within the first couple of minutes of reading this novella--one that closes out the author's Boyfriend Material series--I knew that this was going to be one of those rare gems. Short, sweet, yet still so damn satisfying that it leaves one hell of a fab lasting impression.
An American and a Brit meet in Paris. They're both spending their last day in the city on their own, but then their paths cross. Hours later, Marley and Reid know they've left their mark on each other, their lives changing in the most subtle of ways. But time has ticked by and they go their separate ways--Marley back to New York for business school, and Reid back to London for work. He leaves her with a promise, but will have ever get a chance to keep it?
Le sigh. I adored every single about this book. Reid and Marley were introduced in previous books in the series, but this novella can totally be read and appreciated on its own. Happenstance brought them together. Circumstance pulled them apart. Now, whether it's fate or coincidence that's at play later in their story is easily debatable, but I, for one, am a sucker for a happy ending regardless of how it comes about. And Reid and Marley's ending? HAPPY.
This book was like the chocolate Reid and Marley were devouring in the story. It's a morsel of deliciousness in fictional romance form. I'm all for full-length novels, but sometimes, all it takes is less than a hundred pages of a love story that entices a smile on your face from the get-go, leaving you with a bigger one by the end. I was waiting for Lauren Blakely to release Your French Kisses on the 6th, but kisses to her for publishing it early! Five-plus stars. ♥
Review for Your French Kisses only. Part of my full review for One Night Stand-In “We’re a moment in time. A starburst. A spark against the sky that burns bright and fast.”
Sigh… I loved this so, so much! Reid and Marley met in France and spent an unforgettable chocolatey afternoon together. The connection was strong, but they didn’t share last names or how to contact each other because they would be in different countries. That connection doesn’t let up, and when they meet again years later in New York, it’s Kismet.
This novella was everything! Though it didn’t have Lauren’s HOT sex scenes, it didn’t need it. It was a wholly fulfilling and fun novella with fabulous narration!

This book is what champagne bubbles feel like sipped on a delicious night with your special someone: complete and pure happiness!
A chance meeting by two people still not knowing what a future life will hold in store for them. People still needing to grow and blossom into themselves. What American lady wouldn’t jump at the chance to take a chocolate tour all day with a handsome Brit through the streets of Paris especially when they know it will only be that one day.
Ms. Blakely wrote a shorter story that have me falling in love right along with the characters of Reid and Marley. I am absolutely blown away with how much my heart is bursting with joy & my cheeks ache from all the smiles that are delivered. Oh, and the delivery – absolute cloud 9 with Shane East and Erin Mallon performing this fantastic text. You can hear the ache in Erin’s voice when Marley doesn’t want to walk away from Reid, so much so I may have teared up a bit. But the smooth reassurance of Shane’s Reid knowing it is the right thing and they WILL find each other because “…today is making me believe in something else…”, so dreamy and so lovely. Listen, enjoy and fall in LOVE with “Your French Kisses”.
Adorable. Sweet. Touching. Sigh-worthy. I felt all the love in this novella featuring side characters from the Boyfriend Material series. A chance meeting in Paris between a charming Brit and a sweetheart of an American, drive this short as they spend 5 hours together and don't see each other again until fate steps in 3 years later.
Despite the length, it's Blakely romance at its very best, delivering all the feels as only she can.
A perfect little read when you're looking for a quick escape from the crazy that is life.
didn't know I needed this novella, but I loved every second of it! If you read the third one, you met Reid, and Marley was in the second one. This was short, sweet, perfect little escape. Highly recommend the whole series!
Short story. This is my first romance story by Lauren Blakely. Your French Kisses is a short story, and I found it worth reading. I liked the story. But I do say if you are one that wants more sizzle and heat besides some kisses you will be disappointed. I would say however this was a sweet story and I did like the characters. I would recommend this romance.
This was 2 cute novellas that were sweet and romantic and full of fluff. They will warm the heart and make you believe in love. The narration was spot on with Erin Mallon and Shane East and then Andi Arndt and Joe Arden.

**************************** Too Good To Be True
This is a sweet, sexy novellete for Flynn and Dylan's sister, Olivia. She is an ethical hacker and tech nerd, but she has other fun interests. But she has been hurt so she is guarded and picky. She tends to self sabotage to avoid getting hurt.
But Flynn convinces her to give Evie the matchmaker a try. Enter smart, sweet, funny vet Herb Smith. He has his own relationship issues and fears.
The matchmaker thinks they will be a match made in Heaven with similar interests and personalities. Will it be a love match or is he too good to be true? And is Olivia brave enough to truly find out?
I really liked both of these characters and their banter. I enjoyed more with Flynn (this takes place prior to his book, Come As You Are). This is short, sweet, and so much fun.
I loved this sweet and whimsical romance! Your French Kisses is the closing novella in the Boyfriend Material series. This is about Reid, Lucas' friend and business partner, and Marley, the woman who captured his heart, one perfect afternoon, three years ago in Paris. They went their separate ways, never forgetting the other, and always wondering if their path's would cross again. Shane East and Erin Mallon narrate this truly romantic, serendipitous tale of two people who are absolutely destined to be together! They really did an amazing job of capturing the magic of this enchanting romance!
Keep listening at the end for a special bonus novella, Too Good to be True! Lauren Blakely revisits her 'One Love' series world to give Olivia, Flynn's sister from his book, Come As You Are, her HEA. Olivia and Herb are having a hard time finding someone to love after they had their hearts broken. With the help of a mutual friend, they have the best first date ever and beyond. Joe Arden and Andi Arndt narrate this fun & flirty romance. Their comedic timing is perfect and they easily handle Blakely's quick and witty banter, making this sizzling romance even more delightful!
A sweet, quick feel good read. Total works as a standalone without having read the rest of the series. But I likely will now.
Added audio narration by Shane East (one of my favorite male voices) and Erin Mallon only enhanced the story experience IMO. I'm a fan of immersion reading as well as being able to switch between reading and audio when I'm doing mundane or repetitive tasks (like laundry).
Re-Listen: three years later and I still love Reid and Marley for a quick, feel-good story. 😊

Both stories are on the short side so there isn’t much time for a lot of drama and character development. We do have two likable couples and wonderful narrators. Well worth the time!
