This book was recommended to me when I was working for a public interest research group fighting the power company in my state. It is an excellent reference of math-inhibited people like me, whose eyes glaze over whenever other people start spouting numbers to make a point. It is easy to read, extremely interesting, and gave me a bell. Now, when someone cites a suspicious-sounding statistic, a "ding" goes off in my head. When the Bush administration talks numbers about the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, I hear a handbell choir.
