This is a very detailed book going through a lot of questions people have to ask about the Bible.
This is a book that takes awhile to read, sometimes you need to take a break and read something else, but it is a great book at explaining the Bible, one of the best I've read so far.
It covers topics like how to read the Gospels, Psalms, Proverbs, and different sections in the Bible to hot topics like homosexuality, slavery and so on. All questions are covered well, they are well thought out and explain things in ways we can understand and apply to our reading of the Bible. He even includes some humor like when he talks about the Bible's key characters and says Joshua was last seen as a cucumber in the VeggieTales story of Jericho, “Josh and the Big Wall.”
The book is split into 7 sections from Bible basics to The End...Where We Are Ultimately Headed and Are You In Christ? Unfortunately my copy ended at section 6 The Church and I didn't get to read the last part of the Church and sections 6&7.
I did enjoy reading this book and will apply a lot of the Bible Basics to my reading of the Bible. I also really liked how to read the Psalms, Proverbs, Gospels, etc. I will be applying this as well. I took some notes about reading some of these and look forward to applying them.

I only have great things to say about this book, Dr. Michael E Wittmer did a great work explaining the bible in a way anyone can understand, I truly like his writing style, history and theology sometimes are difficult to grasp , but he here it works. I like that we find questions from the small to the most complex ones, I remember while growing up I had many of those doubts, right now as an adult it makes me happy to know that if someone has the same ones have a great book where to find the answer. And you may think if I have a doubt I just google it, but how do you know it’s a reliable source?. Dr. Michael E Wittmer is a known University Professor of Theology, I believe this book is a great choice to share with family and friends, not only to learn but also to clarify; but to deepen in the knowledge of the powerful truth found in the Bible.

FYI - I received a preview copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for my thoughts on this book.
Overall, this book is pretty good. At times, I feel the author is "childish" in how he writes and presents the information. At other times, I feel he is more professional and authoritative.
Is the book for a mature Christian? Maybe. I wasn't impressed overall, because of that "childish" feeling at parts in the book. The author is Biblical and truthful which is the most important piece.
Would I buy a copy of the book? For myself? No.
For a new Christian believer? Maybe.

The Bible Explainer by Michael E. Wittmer is interesting partly due to the fact that it’s not the whole book to review. Based on what was available there are some very good explanations on the Bible and its tenants. It was easy to read and understand in most instances. Would I purchase? Maybe.
