When I pick up an Erin Bedford I actually know what I get. And I like that. I like it when I know what kinda book something will be, even when I don't read the blurb on the back. I like it when I know in what kind of mood I need to be to read a book, or how much time and energy I will need to read it. When it comes to Erin Bedford I've discovered that her books are easy to read, light hearted and most of all addictive.

This book is exactly that. Right away I found it easy to connect with our hero

I am behind on reading this author, and many others, because of the shelter-in-place order and all of family needing to be online. When I saw this book, though, I had to grab it because I was missing her writing. TBH, I am not much of a YA/NA reader anymore since my kids are teens, and the characters remind me too much of them. LOL! Anyway, I was glad to dive into the book, and I really felt for Elle, although I admit it was hard to get to know her. The book took a very interesting turn at the e ...more

This is the best book by this author I have read in a while.
Elle has many issues in her life, starting with her being considered a freak - what with seeing the death of everyone who touches her and all. Her family is broken, with dad being always absent, and due to her touching issues she only has one friend. Now after her mother's death, she is taken to an academy for other like her.. only, she stands out also among the gifted.
I absolutely enjoyed the darkness in Elle. Her pain and conflicts

This is a fascinating story with strong characters and an intriguing story line. The author does a fantastic job developing the story and pulls you in with all the twists along the way. It's well written, moves fluidly and is a great start to a new series. I was hooked from start to finish and left with wanting more. I loved and highly recommend this book and am looking forward to the next one!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

Death, pain, powers (our Star here, Elle, can predict a person’s death by touch), discoveries that are shocking (that her school is full of angel’s children - and that the angels still exist and are out to kill them), and do much more. All perfectly put together in a powerfully great, and superbly written first series book. Such is Erin Bedford’s Death In Her Eyes (Children of the Fallen Book 1), and it’s easy to highly recommend.

OMG I loved this! A fantastic first book in this series which I got totally lost in the minute I picked this up! The world building is incredible, the storyline addictive and the characters are superb! Along with the danger and drama there is a ton of twists and turns to keep you on your toes and that ending! OMG I need the next book like now please!

Death in Her Eyes was a journey. Overall, CAWPILE concluded that this was a 4-star read, which I agree, but also disagree. To me, the first 50% was 100% a 3-star read. HOWEVER, the second 50% of this novel was AMAZING, 5/5, 10/10, I LOVED IT. But it’s not

This is book one of the Children of the Fallen series and the main character is Elle, who is now almost eighteen and has been tortured since she was a toddler, by a strange ability she has. If she touches someone, she sees their death and none have ever been a gentle death! She avoids people as much as possible in her life, but school is hell since she has been considered a weirdo for years, after innocently saying what would happen to someone’s pet. She knows how but not when, those close to he ...more

Erin Bedford has me completely in love with her new series from the jump after experiencing Death In Her Eyes, and I'M HERE FOR IT ALL! Poor Elle, she's got this little gift of seeing people's death the moment they touch her, and there's not anything she can do to stop it. After she loses her mother, her father, who has been absent for many years, kidnaps her from the grave side service, and she lands in a school for people like her called Fallen Academy. it's here that she learns all kinds of c ...more

Overcoming adversity to be strong is the staple of a lot of books but one Erin does so well and I really like this new female MC and you are quickly drawn to her emotionally pulling at your heart strings with what she has had to overcome and feeling proud of her as she is today.

Elle has just turned 18. She is estranged from her father and has no use for him. She has a talent she’d rather not have...she can see how people will die; not only see it but experience it as well. She’s seen her mother’s death and is dreading the day it happens.

On the day of her mother’s funeral, her father kidnaps her and spirits her away to a school for Nephilim (the child of an angel and a human). Things just get weirder from there.

The author does extremely well with descriptions of the ch

Our heroine is not like other girls and it turns out there is a really good reason for that, but it doesn't make life any easier. Then getting shuffled off to a paranormal academy upon her mother's death just heaps on the issues.

This is book one of the series.

This is an urban fantasy story with an academy setting. The story is well written and easy to read, which I expect from the author. Similarly, the characters are well developed, with solid back stories and distinctive traits which makes the

Elle has dealt with death her whole life. If she touched someone she can see their death. She has seen her mother's death so many times that she has to act to be mourning for her. On the day of the funeral her absentee and uninvolved father arrives and kidnaps her to a school for her safety. She was looking forward to going to college with her best friend and now her dad has destroyed her plans. Is he helping her or really using her for his own means. I'm a big fan of Erin Bedford, and I couldn't pass the opportunity for this book. This first installment in a new series is a intriguing and captivating as all her books. To some it may look that it starts slowly, but to me that's the beauty of it. We get to learn a bit of the background story, but without giving away everything. There are juicy details that haven't yet come to light. What's the deal with Elle? Why does she only see death? And why when she's with Dex it's not the only thing she ...more

I am a huge fan of Erin Bedford and jumped at the release of a new series. This did not disappoint. The only thing I am disappointed about is that I can't dive into book 2 yet! Elle is special, or as she sees it cursed. She has the teenage angst and prudently goes through a lot of trauma and finds out her life isn't what she thought it was. Everything she thought she knew about her parents is false and she is a Nephilim. On to the Fallon Academy where she finally knows shes not the only person w ...more

I have read many of Erin Bedford's stories and she has a fun writing style, even when dealing with danger and drama. In this series, you've got Elle who has dealth with the ability to see other people's death when she touches them - not a fun skill to have. When she finds herself snatched unceremoniously from her mother's funderal by her absentee father, she discovers there's more to the story than she ever knew. This is going to be a really interesting series to watch. It looks like there is going to be all kinds of conflict going on, which well definitely keep me interested.

I like Elle. I like her sarcasm and her strength. I think that she's been dealt a bad hand, since she has had to deal with so much in her life. I think that she's done a remarkably good job at keeping her sanity in place because I think that I would probably be considerably less sane than she appears to be.

I really liked this Female character, she was tough, stood up for herself, and is strong to deal with her powers on a daily basis. Even though she comes off cold and uncaring to others, I as a reader definitely understand why...who wants to see every person they touch death scene. Her dad is a douche and a complete dead beat and never even tries to explain to her why he wasn't around, just expects others to do it. This is the first book in what looks like it’s going to be a great series! Elle has an unfortunate gift, she has always been able to see a person’s death and all she has to do is touch them. Poor girl, I just can’t imagine that, so she tries her best to keep everyone at.a distance and lives. Although almost everyone called her a “freak” she could always rely on her mother to be there for her, but when her mother dies everything changes and Elle is left all alone.

This was a good find. It offers a new way to look at the story behind nephilim, how they came to be in our world, and what their purpose is. Since this is the first book in a continuing story-line, it does end in a bit of a cliff-hanger. However, this book easily set the foundation for the world in which it was written and the characters the story portrays. I was a little disappointed to realize that the I would be cut off so completely "just before the good stuff." However, I am now looking for ...more

I have read many academy series. This one kept my interest. I could not put it down. Sometimes reviews are hard to do because you don't want to give the story away.
Elle is a Nephiilim. At her mothers funeral she is basically kidnapped from her mothers funeral by her absent father.
She is put in the Fallen Academy by him for supposedly her own good. Se doesn't get any answers. believe me this story is full of everything you are looking for. For those of you who love these types of books you will
