My consecration day was the day I got to Belize for my mission trip. This book dives into the simplicity and serenity of the Holy Family. This book, mixed with the community I met on my mission trip, convicted me more deeply to love my family better— a task that does not come easy, but I remain hopeful as I turn to Our Blessed Mother, St. Joseph, and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Definitely worth a read, but this one was special to me, especially because of the timing of it all. God’s providence never ceases to amaze me.
The biggest figures when it comes to Christianity are Jesus and Mother Mary, but someone so forgotten and yet a pivotal figure we must look to is Saint Joseph, the adoptive father of Jesus. To quote from the Epistles of Saint Paul to the Ephesians 5:25, "love your wife as Christ loved His Church" and the only man that has exemplified this lesson to its perfectness is Saint Joseph. Through reading this book you can find a closeness to Jesus through reflecting the lives of the Holy Family particularly the silent but important figure Saint Joseph.
Really loved this! Was a refreshing, integrated dive into St Joseph in the context of the Holy Family and overall deepening divine intimacy. Really well done and highly recommend for anyone looking to deepen their relationship with St Joseph. Has airs of theology of the body and some deep hitters that will make you contemplate things deeply 😮💨
This was tender at times but not my favorite overall. If you really like already thought of reflection questions, this may be the consecration book for you. It felt just a little too probing for me. St. Joseph is the man and he is present.
This was my first ever St. Joseph consecration. The graces received from having completed it were numerous and I am thankful to have been gifted this book. This approach has a very "human/emotional/psychological" lens to it, in a good way. It was a but rudimentary for me but I was still able to enjoy it.
Good book. Many things to ponder. This book has a different approach than Consecration to St. Joseph by Donald Calloway, which I also read, but both are good and offer much food for thought.
One of the best books for consecration to St. Joseph. I appreciate that the St Joseph portrayed in this book is more of a person and less of a fictional character marked by the traditions. The reflections were profound, and meant to guide and probe one's spiritual disposition. That being said, some devotionals could be more coherent - I did feel confused when some paragraphs were introduced without flow. I want to try and do some other consecration next year, God willing. Maybe reading the encyclical- Redemptoris custos? We will see :) Overall, this is a much better alternative than Fr Don Calloway's consecration book, for me.
