The Dragon Child is the second work of Nikita's that I've read and it has only cemented my opinion of her as a fantastic writer. Nikita has weaved a beautiful world within The Dragon Child, filled with well-developed, loveable characters. I love the way she uses metaphor, it shows a dedication and passion for writing that makes you excited to read whatever comes next. The Dragon Child is a great read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. ...more

The Dragon Child is a fun, epic fantasy perfect for a younger YA audience. It has a very fast paced plot and direct writing style that make it easy reading.

Personally, I was left a bit frustrated at how quickly the plot progressed with what I felt was minimal world-building and it felt like a chore to try and keep up BUT I kept reading because I was still curious to see where it went.

There is plenty of mythology and lore scattered throughout the book which I did enjoy but as someone w

Pretty much knew I'd love this from the first page. Normally, fantasy isn't my thing, but this was honest and real, as far as fantasy goes. Boshoff has this charming way with words and the crafting of her characters. Very seldom, if ever, have I rooted for a character as much as I rooted for Lucy.

3.5 Stars Rounded to 4. *Warning: Ends with a cliffhanger*

What I liked:
-Relatable MC who isn't absolutely stunning
-Cute romance
-Good mix of beliefs & mythology
-Dragons (What more needs to be said?)
-Fast-pace makes it easy to read
-Enjoyable plot

What I wasn't the biggest fan of:
-While fast-paced, it moved a little too quickly for my liking
-Needs more world-building
-The fact it ends with a cliffhanger

Good book. I recommend it for those who want a light and fun fantasy read and are a fan of the chos

The Dragon Child is an adventure from page one. Fast paced and fun. I love a sarcastic witty MC and I wish she would have had more of that, otherwise she was very relatable. Not skinny and not stunningly beautiful. The author's writing definitely appeals to the imagination. All in all it was a super fun read and definitely left me wanting more. That cliffhanger on the end......I gotta know what happens next. ...more

Lucy is the main character we can all relate to, she isn't slim and fit and strong, she cuddly and lovely and brave when she needs to be. The Egyptian God Ra is one of the best mentors a girl could ask for and the allure of dragons keeps you reading on. ...more
