Kane, for instance, is a gorgeous man; he’s sweet, kind, funny as hell, and completely oblivious to the fact that I have had a fool’s crush on him for the better part of a year.
Kane had come out at some point too and stood near the window watching them. His fists clenched tightly, released, and then clenched again. He didn’t even realize we were standing there until he turned to head back toward his space.
My tummy fluttered at the though, because it was another reminder that he would never be mine. He was hung up on a girl who obviously hadn’t noticed him. I was pretty sure I could chalk that up to unrequited karma. It didn’t matter though.
Oh well, there was always tomorrow, and lucky for me, just as I was about to head out the door, a fine ass red-head with a killer smile and tits for days walked in.
I chuckled and pulled the redhead closer as she sucked on my earlobe. Only this time when I glanced back up, it was to see shocked disapproval on Gretchen’s face before she quickly turned away.
Instead, I decided to drown my sorrows in pussy I knew wouldn’t have any problem climbing on the back of my Harley, or on my lap, for that matter. I called up Shelly Andrews and told her to meet me at the shop while I cleaned up my space and waited.
I ended up going to find someone to take the edge off and the hurt away. First it was Nicole, then Sandy, and Melanie, and, well, there were a couple more. I kept trying, and it never worked. Not a single one of them could take my mind off what I thought I was losing out on.
“You need to knock your shit off. I know you had it bad for Ever and she never noticed, because you never manned up and told her, but bringing every floozy in Charleston to work to flaunt them in front of the rest of us before you go have your little fuck fests is getting tiresome!”
“Maybe you need to take a clue from the club guys. They think of their bikes as a sacred space. The only women who get a ride are family or the woman they’re claiming.”
He was so concerned that I not hurt Ever’s precious feelings that he forgot about the Gretchen portion of the equation.
“Low blow, Kane. Especially since you don’t care that what you want me to do would hurt me. It’s just about her.”
I could feel Toby with me. I felt his caress on my cheek, just the way he used to do whenever we parted. He would say, “I’m taking a piece of you with me until I see you again.”
