Wing and Nien

Merehr follows the lives of two brothers - one black, one white. Brothers of different bloodlines, Wing and Nien live in a secluded valley, isolated by high mountain ranges and the piety of their race. Religious seclusion and fear of the outlying valleys has forced the role of prophet upon Wing and rebel upon Nien. But no one's ever only one thing: Wing and Nien both reject their people's claim on them. What results is the complete transformation of a continent, a race, a family, and most importantly the lives of the two brothers, torn between who they want to be and who their people want them to be.

I don't even know where to begin honestly.

This book took me on a journey that was better than what I was originally anticipating. The brother duo, family dynamics, culture, and spiritual relations within this story was beautifully intertwined. I have never read a book before that integrated the spiritual/sacred aspects of life as humans within a fantasy novel. It's typically been either or for me, so to see the sacredness of the energy around us COMBINED with badass characters, fighting, love and lost, was SUCH a unique experience.

The way Corellian was able to show me the meditation experiences that Wing went through were truly and undoubtedly next level. Being someone who loves to meditate in slow/fast activities, the scenes reconnected me with my own experiences and heighted my sense to the sacred energy around me, especially when I started to feel lost or disconnected. Honestly, I loved loved loved how Corellian added it into the story. So damn beautiful.

Okay, got that sacred feelings out of the way. Now I can fan girl OVER NIEN AND WING. WHAT IS IN THE WATER THEY ARE DRINKING?! I wanted to be stuck between these MEN every moment of every day, GOODNESS GRACIOUS.

We got Wing, who is quiet and reserved but GOD DAMN he is so funny and witty. I want to braid his long gorgeous hair and smell it. Also he essentially has a big wild kitty as a pet/companion and now I want one. I would get irritated with Wing sporadically throughout the book because he would keep to himself SO MUCH and bear a lot of weight that I KNOW his brother would gladly help carry but he was figuring out how to handle it himself without wanting to be a burden that he already felt he was for his family.

I can't think about Nien without blushing I swear. He is the tall, dark, and handsome bundle with a big sprinkle of second hand embarrassment. For being the Cant leader/warrior, HE'S A BUMBLING MESS when it comes to women he's interested in and I am HERE FOR IT. He gets so nervous around SiQQiy that I bust out laughing every time they started to conversate. Seriously so hilarious I love it. He's also so tender hearted that I want to cry because I love him so much and he is just the best brother. *inserting crying yet in love face*

THE ENDING?!?! BOY, SO I HAVE WORDS FOR THE AUTHOR. I am still upset and emotionally recovering. WTF. I love a savage author who just tears our hearts out. I love happy endings for sure but I love them even more where theres a fresh slice of HEARTACHE on the side.

I need to go hit up my therapist for sure though after this one.

Only main complaint is the chapters were super long and I have a really hard time with long chapters and I wish that we got a bit more depth with Carly and SiQQiy. I want more of their backstory and relationships with the bros but I survived.
