Monica **can't read fast enough**
Hoodoo Man opens with the death of a beloved and charismatic local Haitian voodoo priest, and is quickly followed by the death of two more people connected to him. The murders of these men all mirror a gruesome set of murders that happened eight years before, leaving Star and her partner Paresi to figure out who is targeting this small religious community and why. It wouldnt be fair for me to say this was a horrible novel but i can certainly fairly say this novel was just NOT FOR ME.

I am convinced Judith Smith-Levin is a combination of those Contemporary Blaxploitation novelist like Zane or even Eric Jerome Dickey with a little bit of Alexander McCall Smith and/or Beverly Clearly.

Levin was confused when writing this novel. She did not know if she was writing an African-American drama, a cozy mystery, a forensic thriller--or a cookbook! I dont remember a
