Phoenix is one panic attack away from losing it. His brothers and colleagues are walking on eggshells, waiting for him to inevitably lose the tiny grip on his monstrous temper. He's had to step down from running their company as he can't be trusted. That damn known on the head is taking away his independence - they won't even let him drive! Now he needs to see a headshrinker before they let him even attempt to get back on the road and, more importantly it seems, get his concealed carry licence ...more

Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, Phoenix Steele is being subjected to restrictions, emotions and so much more than he thought possible. Of course, he's lucky to be alive and walking according to others. Recovering from a TBI, Traumatic Brain Injury, after being shot in the head, Phoenix finally agrees to see a Psychologist, Dr. Rose Floris. As Rose "Flower", (Phoenix's name for his doctor) and he each find their footing in the doctor/patient roles, they are called upon to open up to ...more

Phoenix is the first book I've read by Amanda McKinney. The book is a Steele Shadows Rising series. Although it is the first in this series, Phoenix's brothers have a series called Steel Shadows Security. I have not read them, and don't need to for this book therefore it is a standalone.

This book is told from duel point of views which is my favorite writing style. I like to know what the characters are thinking. This book is the story of Phoenix and Rose. Rose is a therapist and has some OCD due

Phoenix: Steele Shadows Rising is an outstanding romantic suspense by Amanda McKinney. Ms. McKinney has once more impressed me with her story-telling abilities. This book is well-written and populated with a phenomenal cast of characters. Phoenix is recovering from a gunshot to his head. He has to work with a psychologist in order to get his license and concealed carry permit back. Rose worked hard to overcome her background and get where she is but one meeting with Phoenix and she was thinking ...more

Phoenix is my favorite of the Steele brothers. Recovering from a gun shot to the head, he is pushed into therapy. Rose is a complex woman with a past of her own. The chemistry between the two is combustible. The development of their relationship is perfectly paced. The growth in both characters is realistic and relatable.
The mystery is full of suspense and twists. I really thought I had it figured out. I was so wrong! The danger to Rose brings out the alpha in Phoenix and becomes part of his

Ill tell you what. This author knows how to write well written, high intensity, heart pounding, loads of mystery, emotional, hot and steamy sex, and just give me a heart attack now books. The Steele Brothers Security series is an incredible read, but Phoenixs story just puts the icing on the cake. Theres something about a strong willed, sexy, ex marine thats taken to his knees over a devastating injury and a beautiful woman who just happens to be his therapist, and a match in stubbornness and ...more

The Steele brother's are back and eldest brother Phoenix is back on his feet slowly recovering from his coma after being shot. He has more pain and his brain is misfiring more then he would like and his temper is out of control so his doctors have pulled his drivers license and conceal carry privileges until he works through some of his issues with a psychiatrist. Amanda has done another PHENOMENAL job !! Phoenix Feen is such an Amazon character. I loved him in Cabin 1 and when the book ended I was mad I mean really upset. BUT Feen finally gets his story and boy is it a doozy. Phoenix is handsome, strong and oh so flawed. Both physically and mentally.

Rose Flower wow she is such a strong, very strong, independent, beautiful, feisty and amazing woman. I absolutely loved her character. She is also a flawed woman that has overcome so many odds just like

There arent words!
This is an edge of your chair read that is if you can even sit still to read it. There was so much going on that the intensity; mystery, emotion, and hot steam sex wore me out. This entire series has been unbelievable, but this one beats them all. The chemistry between Rose and Phoenix is off the charts as is their mutual respect for each others accomplishments in spite of obstacles they have overcome. There is a constant undertow throughout the book relating to a serial

Even fresh out of a coma after being shot in the head, Phoenix is HOT!
Hes full of rage and frustration at his loss of memory and motor skills. Hes vehemently resistant to physical and emotional therapy ... till he lays eyes on the beautiful, buttoned-up, control-freak therapist, Dr. Rose Floris. Phoenix knows how to turn the heat up to steam-level in a hurry. All the Steele brothers are sex on a stick, and they always have what it takes to save their damsels when danger threatens. The Steele

I have thoroughly enjoyed each of the the Steele brothers stories. However Phoenix's story was the one I was looking forward to reading the most. Amanda McKinney imbued the story of Phoenix and Rose with emotion, poignancy, drama, menace, chemistry laden interactions that cracked from the moment the pair met. A clash of wills between two strong individuals who have survived unthinkable acts. He strives to be the man he once was, and she is willing to breach his barriers to help him. Even as

Story very good, but...

I really enjoyed the story and getting to know Phoenix and Rose. But, the editing could be much tighter. Pronoun use is sloppy (her and I), a couple of words that I had to look up but they still didnt fit, and some incorrect punctuation.

Even though I liked the storyline, I will not reread it. There was too much winking going on (so much) and Rose let herself be goaded into such childish responses, which did not suit a grown woman, much less a therapist.

Read this once

This is one series I liked following while waiting for the next one. With the men that are in this we now will get a closer look at Phoenix whom will own us in no time at all. The intimacy that will come out of this will grow from within. Rose has her own story but with them intertwined with Phoenix we will be transfixed with what will unfold before us. There is a fight that has us riding a wild one with the whips that cause the neck to roll. My favorites are contained within with that being ...more

Wow !! A very intens, emotional, steamy and thrilling story. Its the first in the new Steele shadows rising series by Amanda Mckinney. You dont have to read the Steele shadows security series before this book, since this can be read as a standalone, but I do reccomend it.

A woman hired to pick up the broken pieces This is what the blurb says, and made me want to read the story straight away. And wow, this is a real pageturner!

Once again Amanda McKinney gives us an inside look at the Steele brothers of Berry Springs. This is a great continuation of Cabin 1, 2 and 3. We know that Phoenix has miraculously woken up from his coma, now he needs to deal with the aftermath of his Traumatic Brain Injury. His brothers, Gunner, Alex and Gage have his back he knows this yet he feels as though has failed them. It takes the help of a therapist, Dr. Rose Floris, to explain what he needs to do to get his life back. Rose has her own ...more

Good, not great

I started reading this author in Cabin 1, 2, and 3 so I was excited to see Phoenix get a story after what hes been through. Unfortunately a great deal of my attention on his story was taken by the fact that while this is related to that series (because they are brothers) there is zero mention of their storys existence. No mention of their women or anything. In fact its said Gage slept with a nurse of Phoenixs but he wasnt shot until the end of Gages book...

As usual wonderful! I love this series. The characters have depth and flaws and the storyline is well written and plotted.

Phoenix, the oldest Steele brother has cheated death. But if he wants to go back to living his life he needs his drivers license and concealed carry permit. If he wants those he has to complete therapy. He fights it every step of the way but before he knows it his therapist, Rose Flores has gotten into his mind and under his skin.

Finally he is here!

I've been waiting for Phoenix's book. Amanda McKinney does not disappoint in the continuation of the steamy Steele Brothers.

Rose is very strong and independent, which makes her a perfect match for Phoenix. This has been by far, my favorite in the series. You will not be disappointed with this one. I can't wait to see what else is in store for the remaining books in the series.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.

An Intense Tale!
Phoenix is a well-developed suspenseful, thrilling rollercoaster ride with twists and turns that keeps you guessing until the last page. Phoenix is a hot romance with drama, intrigue, and action that keeps coming. The main characters Rose and Phoenix have a stormy, steamy attraction that keeps this tale exciting. I enjoyed this intense tale. Recommended!

That's a big wow!

Sexy and steamy and a mystery. How can one series have so many incredible hunks in one place. I liked Phoenix in the original book and I'm glad his character was fully developed in this book. It feels like a complete circle. Now we need a short novel to see how all these hunny guys and strong women make it. Can't get enough of these incredible brothers! Hurry up next one!

After reading the 3 previous books focusing on Pheonix's brothers I thought I was a little familiar with who he was and where his own story would lead. But I was so wrong. What a great read and what a dynamic character. I was lost a bit in the psychology terms but that didn't lessen the amazing journey. Who knew Phoenix was going to be so deep and multi dimensional. I loved this book. Amanda McKinney is the Best!

Just when you thought the Steele Shadows Security series couldn't get any better... the story of Phoenix came along. Wow! What an incredible book. The characters in this book are so deep and well written. I read this book in one day because I could not put it down! Another great book by Amanda McKinney! She is constantly topping herself with these storylines and character development. It's a MUST read!

Rose has had a really hard life, she has a hidden childhood, in that she won't talk about it at all. Phoenix got shot in the head when he was investigating his father's death, see the previous Cabin books ( they're great and well worth a read). He's now supposed to be having therapy so he can get his driving and gun licences back.
To say he's not happy about it is an understatement!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is a great read about two lost souls.

Great characters. Wonderful dialogue. Fantastic plot. Fear, guilt, desperation, murders, stalking, jilted ex lover, fami!y feud and , to top it all off, true insanity and terror. Suggest reading the first Steele stories before this one to truly understand the male hero...and he is a hero.
