Ancient Enemy by Katie Reus

2nd book in the Ancients Rising series. Better is read in series order but can be read as a stand-alone. Paranormal romantic suspense.

The world changed when dragons decided to take over the world. After the battles were over, paranormals greatly outnumbered humans and now rule the government and the rebuilding cities.

This month has been one of the best I have had for a while in terms of reading, and Katie’s second instalment of her Ancient’s Rising series is the best book I have read from her in a while. This is an author that nails PNR in my opinion and Ancient Enemy will go down as one of my all time favourite stories from her.

Willow completely stole the show in this one. She was so adorable that even all the characters in the book couldn't get enough of her. I hope we see more of her in the upcoming books in the series.

Now that I have my love for Willow expressed, I really did love Dallas and Rhys, as well. Dragon shifters are my favorite shifters to read about. To me they seem to be the unicorn of the shifter world. I find that Katie Reus really does them justice.

I do love dragons.

In this one Rhys is desperately searching for the witch that drained and killed his sister.

He feels drawn to New Orleans. When he first meets Dallas he fights the attraction he feels. After all she’s a witch. He soon realises she’s nothing like the dark witch he’s searching for. But can he rise above centuries of hate.

This is another good read. I love all the characters and the world that’s been created. And don’t get me started on the cutie that is Willow.

Another yummy dragon shifter comes out of hibernation. Rhys is Lachlan's brother (Ancient Protector) and is looking for their sister's killer. Dallas is a witch with information he needs to find the killer. Lots of other peeps from the previous book, and a real baby dragon help out along the way. I really like how we knew her secret and weren't left wondering the whole book what it was. Lots of drama, action and sexy times along the way plus peeks into King and Aurora's re

I'm in love with a dragon... or two

A year ago, Rhys awoke from his hibernation with the same goal in mind - find justice for his sister's murder. She was deceived by a friend, a witch who took her life to extend her own. He has a real hatred for witches and is willing to give his life for vengeance. Dallas is a powerful witch who has never really belonged. She's used to being rejected for what she is, but Rhys quickly realizes that this witch may just be the exception to the rule.

3.5 but I rounded up to 4 on this one

This is my first Katie Reus book and I really enjoyed it even though I would urge any future readers to read the previous book first. There were certain parts where I felt a bit lost because so many new characters were introduced at once and it was lot to take in.

Ever since The Fall when a bunch of evil dragon shifters tried to take over and ended up killing and destroying a lot of people and property, the supernatural territories had taken over and human governments weren't really a thing anymore. Humans knew about supernaturals and now the good guys were trying to make things better and make up for the destruction their people had caused and were taking out the dragons that had caused all the problems to begin with.

Rhys had been asleep for a long time

Rhys is a grumpy dragon, fresh out of hibernation and still chasing the trail of a wicked witch who killed his sister many, many years ago. He’s in New Orleans, helping King’s pack reorganize the city while he chases down his own leads. He despises witches with a passion, so it was funny to watch him eat crow when he meets Dallas, a very sweet, very nice witch, who is hiding some big secrets. Rhys is a dragon shifter who has been waiting thousands of years to get vengeance on the witch who killed his sister and he has a hatred for all witches. But when he accompanies some wolf shifters to invite a witch to help the Alpha of New Orleans rebuild the city, he is bowled over by the young witch Dallas and her dragonlet.

Dallas has rejected blood magic and spends her days improving the yields of plants and crops on her farm. Witches aren't well regarded by shifters and she tends to keep awa

This was a really fun installment of an actiony, steamy series that always leaves me wanting the next book right away. The older the characters, the more fun we have with them adjusting to the new world and Rhys is no exception. I particularly enjoyed the witch heroine, Dallas, and her lovely pet dragon, who are joyful and powerful and just relatable, as much as a PNR character can be. I love coming back to this series, it’s such a nice escape. Recommend!

Two of my most favorite things to read about. DRAGONS and NEW ORLEANS!! This is a continuing series but could be read as a stand alone. Love the characters and the story line that Reus has created. And...... A baby Dragon too!!! Don't miss out on this great series. "A copy of this book was provided by KR Press, LLC via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Ancient Enemy is book 2 and another enjoyable read in this series. Rhys went into hibernation after the death of his sister at the hands of a witch with only one thing on his mind vengeance. When he wakes the need for vengeance is still really strong and he is pulled to New Orleans where he meets Dallas. Let's just say he is a little disgusted by his attraction because yes you guessed it Dallas is a witch. Overall everything was there for me to love this book, Rhys was sweet, possessive

If pet baby dragon doesn't grab your attention then you just aren't the right reader for this book! We know of ancient dragon shifter Rhys from book one. What we don't know and his brother and clan chief doesn't know, is that he has been out of hibernation for awhile now. He has been hunting his sister's killer and his trail has him ending up in the US in Louisiana. In his quest, he meets Dallas and her pet baby dragon. Rhys is growly and protective of his family and wants nothing to

Rhys's manners could use a little work, "that intense frown deepened. “Are you kidding me? That’s not what I meant,” he snapped. “And I’m not leaving your side.” I liked this book, I liked Rhys.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting my request for an arc of this book. The review below is entirely my own opinion.

This is the second book in a new spinoff series set in the same world as the author’s Darkness series and the circumstances or setting picks up just about right where Ancient Protector (book 1, Lachlan and Star) ends. So though this book is about a separate couple, there are plot lines and scenes with certain characters that will be more meaningful if you read An

Ancient Enemy focuses on Rhys, a recently awakened ancient dragon-shifter who is searching for his sister’s killer, a witch Rhys believes is in New Orleans. Dallas, a witch who is tasked with helping to rebuild the gardens and food sources in New Orleans, might be able to help Rhys find the witch that he’s hunting. But Rhys’s mission is sidetracked when King, the Alpha and leader of New Orleans, sends the pair to investigate missing vampires and humans.

Rhys’ hunt to find his sister’s killer takes him to New Orleans where he meets Dallas and her baby dragon. Prejudiced against witches, he’s on his guard with her as he’s assigned to help her with a project prescribed by their Alpha. Being a Katie Reus book, it doesn’t take long for his protective instincts to kick in and what follows is all kinds of deliciousness that was exactly what my day was in need of!

Dallas Kinley is a powerful witch, but more important she's a caring and loving woman. It bothered me that others judged her for what she was. Loved it! Another fabulous read by Ms. Reus. In this story we have Rhys, Lachlan's brother, from the previous book , who falls in love with a witch. In Rhy's mind all witches are bad and he is currently hunting down the very witch, who killed his sister, thousands of years ago. Dallas is a good witch, an earth witch, and Rhys realizes he may have made a mistake in grouping that all witches are bad. In this book we are met with past characters, a look into who's book might be next, and King and A ...more

With a hot broody dragon on a quest for revenge, a sweet but surprisingly badass little witch with secrets, and the most adorable baby dragon, Ancient Enemy was just a huge helping of amazeballs topped with awesome sauce.

Dallas and Rhys were everything I’d hoped they’d be. I felt for Rhys and his struggle between being drawn to Dallas and fulfilling his need to take out the evil witch. Dallas definitely had the Mary Sue thing going on which is usually a huge no for me, but there was so much more
