To save his mother from ruin, criminal defense attorney Brad Madison does a deal with the devil.

The eccentric, ruthless property guru Rubin Ashby is a man who gets whatever he wants, be it another nip and tuck procedure to "improve" his looks or council approval for his next mega-project.

And when his protege Walter Powell is suspected of murdering his ex-girlfriend Nicola Beauchamp, Ashby wants Brad Madison to defend him and no one else.

Madison is in no mood to help Ashby: his mother has just lost a fortune in one of Ashby's failed property schemes.

However, he is forced to strike a deal with the man he despises: clear Powell's name and his mother's loss will be repaid.

As Madison delves into the case he faces enemies on all sides: corrupt police officers, a spiteful prosecutor, vicious henchmen and venal corporate lawyers.

But it's his acrimonious relationship with Ashby that takes the tension to breaking point, turning a tough case into a cage fight.

Madison fights doggedly to save the unlikable, rich-kid Powell, but the closer he gets to the truth about Nicola Beauchamp's death, the more he realizes there is far more at stake than his mother's money or Powell's freedom.

This is not just a battle for justice Madison's gotten himself into ... it's a fight for his life.

An Intelligent Thriller

Murder mystery; realistic courtroom drama (as opposed to Perry Mason twaddle); family - dynamics depiction with tension resolution. This gem, much like JJ’s other work, gives the average fan of the genre an opportunity to have a great read, learn a few things and sharpen his own values - such a deal!

Game of Justice by JJ Miller

This is the third book of this author that I read. As with the previous two, excellent thriller from start to finish. The central character, Brad Madison, does a great job not only as a criminal attorney but engages in investigative work along with Jake. The ending and the actual mastermind are pretty surprising.

Good and fast read.

Never sure where things are going next. You have to keep reading to see what Madison is up to next. One way or another he lands on his feet.

Game of Justice by J. J. Miller 2/12/2023 Kindle

This book, the third in the series, is chuck full of total unlikeable characters, all trying their best to be detestable. Attorney brad Madison is coerced by real estate tycoon Ashby who swindled Brad’s Mom out of a million, to defend Walter Powell, a smug young accused of killing his ex-girlfriend. While Madison is unsure of Powell’s guilt, his investigator isn’t, and abandons his job of finding positive evidence. Madison continues with the defense, mostly for the money.

Aside from the story leaving a sour taste in the reader’s mouth, the plot remains interesting enough to continue the read. I continue with this series as an easy read, but remain reluctant to recommended it to others

a lot of twists and turns, highly recommend

Man, author had me all over the place trying to guess who was the culprit. But I did get 2 correct. It was so much spinning, rhetoric and gaslighting in the story that I got confused. There’s a lot of suspense in this storyline. A lot of wolves wearing sheep clothing. I’m glad Brad and Jack relationship survived. And it was good the brothers are trying to rekindle their relationship. I think Samantha should’ve been told that her article destroyed two lives. She was irresponsible. Like always, I love the author courtroom scenes. Brad be killing it during his cross examination. I can actually visualize myself sitting in court watching Brad lawyering, antagonizing the witnesses, out thinking the DA, and taunting everyone.

A slight vibe gap between books

I enjoyed this JJ Miller tale but struggled a bit with the protagonist’s inexplicably humbled circumstances after the prior book’s high point victory, press clippings and movie star romance. His lost shine felt jarring to me and the central murder case, suspects, family situation and courtroom scenes just felt a little off to me. Hoping for a bit higher spirits after this case’s big payday and exotic getaway vacation, in the next Brad Madison thriller.

Great storyline and unexpected ending

The storyline and ending are great. I'm a grammar Nazi and a continuity driven reader. I noticed a couple of things that should have been caught by a first rate editor. I believe Amazon has my email address if you're interested in my comments. I think you're a first rate author and shouldn't be judged by easily caught errors. Thank you providing me with great reading.

Twists and turns exciting action

I like court room dramas. This book has the court room drama, but it has behind the scenes drama that takes what happened in the court room out into the streets. It rights a few wrongs and wrongs a few rights while explaining why what and how. And it makes a scoundrel less evil. A good book to read.

Surprise ending.

Overall a decent story ,or stories as there were a few going on. Many characters to hate.
However, I must agree with another reader about getting a new proofreader. So much poor grammar, improper word usage!
It was quite distracting , enough so that I'm not sure I'll invest my time in another Brad Madison book.

Another new author to me, thanks to trawling through Audible for legal thrillers, which seems to be my favourite kind of read at the moment. This author has a few series and I cannot wait to delve in deeper. The writing was great, the story well thought out and executed. Definitely a page turner, very enjoyable read.

Justice,better late than never

Characters in this novel are in a tilt a whirl of spinning between crooked cops, crooked business men, murder , and deception. Plot and pace of this book is good without being frantic, and twists and turns make it a good page turner.

Suspenseful and thrilling

Great story! Fast paced thriller. The story makes you think you know who is guilty, only to have things get twisted around. Suspenseful and thrilling. Keeps you guessing right until the end. Highly recommended.

A solution Without a trial,l

A fast moving story relying only on street savvy is a welcome change, and I enjoyed the read. Tough machismo.
