vol. 1 ★★★★

“I’m not a hero. I’m a jujutsu sorcerer.”

in this second installment, we really get to learn more about jujutsu high and a lot of the students. but we also get to see itadori learning to train and channel his cursed energy with gojo (who, yes - you are all correct, i love him dearly already)! itadori is in a very hard situation with the demon inside of him and we get to learn a little more about that expanding relationship alongside… domain expansion - which is really cool! This volume also is prepping for a goodwill event (aka: tournament) with their sister school, and i am very excited for what is to come! overall, i just love this world and these characters and need more immediately!

trigger + content warnings: possession, battle, violence, gore, loss of a friend momentarily, and… i don’t know, this is a story about a guy eating a demon finger but i don’t even know what kind of tw/cw that would be - maybe cannibalism in the past, but also mentioned in the present a lot >.<

Okay, I am still waiting. Waiting for this series to become more original and unique. The beginning reminded me a lot of Bleach and now this second volume made me think of Naruto. The funny sensei who covers his eyes, the shadow magic, the hero who has a powerful but evil entity inside of him. I am not complaining exactly, but I am slightly disappointed, I was expecting it to be something totally new.
P.s. Sukuna and Gojo are hella hot.

Being very new to manga and anime, when I started watching this one it was the first one I'd watched with the original Japanese audio and subtitles. I've been loving it but I think it took some getting used to and now, reading the manga, I have such a better understanding of things like reverse curse technique and domains. (To be clear, this is not the fault of the anime which seems so far to be a very true and accurate adaption of the manga. That's all on me probably not reading it properly in the subs!)

On to vol 3! Bloody loving this!

Between Gojo's domain expansion and the Megumi vs. Sukuna fight, this volume was immaculate.

❝The only thing that is fair about life is how unfair it is to everyone.❞

❝Live a long life, okay?❞

i so appreciate reading these books after having watched the series (season one at least) because i'm able to slow down, reread, and understand the explanations of different techniques and domains better than in the show

also gojo's face reveal was way less dramatic in the manga ☹️ i no like ☹️

serotonin healing my traumatized heart from aot. i love nobara and the zenin twins sm, and head empty just megumi fushiguro. though it's still definitely in its expositions building up towards more action and the magic system still being explained for readers. cant wait for the pain akutami has in store i guess.

I didn't like this volume as much as volume 1. It was a little confusing and slower paced.

“It’s ironic, isn’t it? When you’re bestowed with everything, you slowly die unable to do a thing.”

Alright! Things are picking up and we are seeing more of the picture now.

This was a fun, and somewhat bizarre, combination of a lot of action, some mystery, and wacky situations that make me laugh really hard. Yet again, that's just a great descriptive for this mange in general.

It did reinforce my love for these unique characters and their antics. After all, you have to be a bit crazy to be a jujutsu sorcerer, right?

“Humans are built from lies. There’s always an underside to the emotions and actions shown on the surface.”

The action in this volume was a lot of fun to see. Especially, because it helped me understand the world a little better.

Dynamic and intense they are a great window into what we can expect the future of the manga to be. As well as the power of the characters.

As much fun as they are and as much as I like them I have to say that the over-explanation in most of the fights is... well, a bit annoying. Sure, the world can be complicated and confusing, I've already admitted to as much previously, but I think that just showing the powers would be enough for one to figure it out... there's a reason the phrase "an image is more valuable than a thousand words" exists, after all. I am perfectly capable of seeing what is happening and draw conclusions from it. A clarification every once in a while it's fine but all the time is really overdoing it.

It is annoying, if nothing else because it really doesn't change how much I like the manga, not overall, at least.

“It’s best to have a concrete objective, right? If you set an objective, all you have to do is bolt through with all you’ve got.”

Getting a better glimpse of what the plot is really gonna be about was really fun!

It's not like we have anything really drawn out, no, we just get some fun teases and a lot of foreshadowing but, well, that's the fun of it all! To have a mystery to decipher and piece together ever so slowly.

As part of all that, we get to meet our villains and, boy aren't they something else.

They are a sharp contrast with the heroes in pretty much every aspect but they can be pretty damn creepy when the situation calls for it.

“Unfairness in circumstance is the only thing fairly imposed on all of us.”

___________

The way I love these characters should be more surprising but it's, honestly, just really satisfying.

I gotta say, I can always count on this manga to laugh and make me feel brighter when I need it.

RTC.
____________

This volume is going to be so much fun!

Just being able to see these characters that I love so much again is going to be really nice and seeing the fights is going to be cool too.

I'm also still flabbergasted as to how this manga has so many chapters per volume so that's a fun thing too.

Pre-review: According to what I'd read/watched so far, the evil sorcerers and the Cures are trying to wipe out the entire population of the non-magical humans so they can create a new world with only sorcerers and Cures left. However, since the Curses are created by humans' negative emotions, so why wouldn't killing all non-magical humans result in food shortage (?) and problems in reproduction (?) among the Cures? LOL

(1) More training for the students!!!

(2) I do like the first half of the volume a lot~

(3) This volume is just so so so so good.☺️

(4) Yuuji vs Sukuna is not bad ☺️, but Jogo vs Gojo is even better and it's just golden!

(5)
"Let's go on a field trip to...a high-end Jujutsu Battle."

Gojo-sensei sugoi ne~😄

(6) I really need to rewatch the anime season 1!!!!!

“The only thing fair about life is how unfair it is to everyone“

I’ve been in love with Sukuna ever since I started reading this manga. Sure, he is evil; he is twisted, manipulative etc. but I like him nevertheless.
And I don’t think that anything could change my feelings towards him. He is the perfect evil being.

But I’m also intrigued by him. It was mentioned in the first volume, that he was human once. I want to know what happened to him; what made him the way he is? Why did he become evil?

I also like Gojo!
And in this volume we got a glimpse of his powers.
Also, have I mentioned how beautiful Gojo’s eyes are?
They are so pretty.
His eyes are also the reason for why he is the only one that can use that kind of power.
I’m still not sure why though.
The whole power thing is still kinda confusing to me.
Saturo Gojo, although he may not look like it, he cares for his students. The way he wanted to kill the higher ups for “killing” Itadori, was endearing to me.
It showed that he truly loves his students. And I love that about him.

A stronger outing than volume 1 but not up to the greats yet.

This series gives me heavy Bleach vibes mixed with maybe Yu Yu Hakusho in some ways. Basically our main character dies in the first chapter in this book. It was semi-spoiled in the last book as the title suggested "SOMEONE WILL DIE NEXT VOLUME" and so he does. But he's our main hero, and he has to come back, right? But the demon makes a deal with him that might not be worth coming back to life afterall.

Overall, it's pretty fun. The series lands on some comedic moments pretty well. The characters feel slightly cliche but I'm starting to warm up to them. The art is pretty solid and some of the fights are fucking awesome looking. Also the actual plot is starting to form and it's thanks to that this is a stronger volume than the last.

A 3.5 out of 5.

Another volume, another wait for the moment where this all just clicks. It has everything you'd want from a shonen, but it's yet to do something where it stands out properly amongst the rest. Still likeable, still fun, still anticipating its step up into greatness.
