Summary:
Henrietta is an elderly woman who lives in the city. Henrietta seems to be content enjoying her garden, books and music, but something is missing. Henrietta is very lonely and misses her childhood best friend Anna. One day Henrietta meets a little white terrier and instantly has a strange connection to this dog. Later that night she dreams of being a little girl again, playing with her friend Anna who gives Henrietta a white china dog toy in the dream. When Henrietta meets the pup again she knows the dog embodies the spirit of her best friend Anna. Henrietta then finds friendship and true happiness once again.

My Thoughts:
Wow. What a truly remarkable story. This story will touch your heart, mind and spirit. The idea of Anna's spirit embodying a little cute terrier or she possibly was reincarnated as a dog in order provide her companionship in her last days just melts my heart and soul. Those who believe in the possibility of reincarnation or even Christians who believe that animals do have souls or even believing in the power of true friendship will appreciate the depth of this story.

All of her friends have passed away and she especially misses her best friend Anna, the two of them best buds since girlhood. One day when her mood is very low, Henrietta interacts with a dog being guided by a passing dog walker. Why does this dog seem to KNOW Henrietta?

Interesting topic for a picture book! Brings a bit of the whimsical, paranormal side of fiction to young readers. The illustrations are simple but still have charm to them. Lovely warm fuzzies guaranteed! Good book to gift lifelong friends, actually. :-)
