A guide to lifelong romance shares the authors' experiences and addresses such issues as passion, interpersonal connection, fear, secrets, trust, and self-destructive patterns
Not at all what I was expecting. Sappy, insecure, and in search of constant validation. Pfft, what a train wreck from the start! For all this "finding ourselves" and "letting the Spirit guide us" and laying blame, it all boils down to one successful, yet highly insecure, performer that suffered a mid-life crisis and latched onto a young ("she could suck a golf ball through a garden hose"), insecure, and emotionally damaged woman. I think she subtly, cleverly played him; the stars in her eyes were for what she could amass from his status to further her future. 12 years was all it took for this union to find separate windows to crawl out of. As I see it, once she was pregnant the writing was on the wedding wall, but ya dragged it out for a 2nd kid. I guess 5 more years of therapy hogwash and more bad decisions was all it took to finally see a light??? Too bad I'm not hiking the Pacfic Coast Trail ~ this book would have come in handy for starting my campfire.
If you love Kenny Loggins' music, you'll hate this book, or at least hate the reasons I love this book. An incredible look inside the passions, hubris, and hearts of Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Loggins as they battle drug and alcohol addiction, abuse, and 'life as a rock star', this chronicle of letters, poetry, and deconstruction of therapy sessions is worse than you might think. Yes, even after reading the last half of that sentence.
Cringe-inducing in its unabashed lack of shame and taste it's everything you never wanted to know about Kenny Loggins, his 'heart', and more. Oh, dear god it's so much more.
What an experience to read such a profound and intimate story about a couple's love journey. Will take a while to digest everything. Enormously inspiring to see what results you can get if you commit time, energy and will to work on your relationship.
The pronounced raw honesty, which is sometimes astonishing, seems to be the ultimate lubricant in the collaboration of the couple's shared journey and the conclusion feels like you can sum it up to: "However it is, it is the truth and as long as we have it, we are strong". An incredibly inspiring example of the learning - you get what you commit to.
PS. The rating does not take into account the form of writing and such criteria, but only the message and its power. And the courage to dare to share this with the world. For that - I cannot give it less than the highest and a bit of my admiration with it 🙏🏽

It was clear to me from the start that this relationship was doomed. She had some unrealistic goals for the two of them, and she wasn't willing to accept Kenny's "stardom" as it was and was going to be. The two of them fell for each other while both still married to other people."Once burned, twice shy," as they say.

This book surprised me. It an autobiography of Kenny Loggins (the singer) and his relationship with his current wife. It totally surprised me as the depth and understanding of relationships that spilled forth in the pages. It showed the ugly, the precious, the pain, the joy...the truth about relationships, raw and open. I was going thru a divorce at the time and that book helped me so much. It made me realize that was the level of communication that I desired in a companion. Beautiful.
