My Rating: 3.5 Stars

Jamie Schulz takes a different approach to a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world and adds an extremely slow-burning romance to the mix. MASTERS' MISTRESS is the story of two people, equally repelled as they are attracted to each other.

In a world where women are now in charge, men are treated as slaves, less than human, but some women do not agree with the way of the world and one ranch owner uses her private world to create a more equal living situation, as long as the rest of

Dystopian world where men are enslaved by women. Although not necessary, it is helpful to read Jake's Redemption prior to this one. This is Book 1 in a planned 6 book series, which is not slated to be finished for several years.
Fairly well edited. Misses words quite a bit.

This story picks up several years after the end of Jake's Redemption. Jake has lived on Angel's ranch for the past several years, and is near the time when it is possible he could go to Monica's ranch. Angel is in need of a doc

Master’s Mistress is a return to the world where women won the war against men. In Jake’s Redemption, the prequel to this series, we are introduced to Jake and Monica. Jake was a man whose spirit had been broken by a horrific woman named Darla, who had owned him before Monica. Then, he was bought by Monica, and he learned how to love through her. Now, Jake wants to return the favor by saving his friend Bret.

Bret and Jake’s friendship was heartbreaking to read about. They had been friends for a l

Masters' Mistress is the first book in The Angel Eyes series and it tells the story of a post-apocalyptic world where women have taken over and men are kept as slaves. We start off in the past and then skip to the present where most of the story takes place.

A lot of thought has been given to the structure of this world, and like any, there are good and bad characters in it. Angel is one of the good ones (obviously) and is trying to get her world on a more even-footing. Darla and her cronies disa

Comprehensively complex and emotionally compelling
Completely aught up in characters, compelling and complex dystopian world
Masters’ Mistress by Jamie Schultz is masterful storytelling. Both arresting and riveting, this book had me enthralled; completely caught up in the characters as well as the dangerous elements of the plot as it relates to this complex and compelling dystopian society.
This author, in my opinion, clearly and concisely wrote this book emotionally authentic; gut wrenching pain,

Sexy and captivating

Schultz tells a sexy and intense story in Masters' Mistress, the first book in this series. I have work from this author before, and I really enjoyed it. The characters were intense and had a chemistry that one may not always see. I enjoyed the story as there is a Mistress that covets her new "property." The author's writing style fits this story, as it is filled with different genre mixes, and they all work together. This author brings Bret and Angel to life. There is a grea

Jamie Schulz “Master’s Mistress” is technically the first book in The Angel Eyes Series, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out “Jake’s Redemption”, the oh-so-fab prequel. “Master’s Mistress gives us both Angel’s story and Bret’s (Jake’s friend) and Ms. Schulz doesn’t mince words. There’s what appears to be 7 novellas combined into this one novel. Okay, that’s not exactly right, but you are getting a tremendous amount of book for the price. And if you love dystopian romances, then you will get ...more

Masters' Mistress is a slow burn dystopian romance. Now, I'll admit that anything set in a dystopian world isn't normally my thing, but Jamie Shulz has created an intriguing world with this series. That said, this one is quite long, and the romance moves much slower than I cared for. There's a lot of back and forth between Angel and Bret, and while it is understandable given the world they live in, it became a bit much after a while. This is part of a continuing story, so we do get an open-ended ...more

This book blew me away. It was so well written, the characters were perfect. I'm not going to give any spoilers as I don't think that's right. Bret, Angel, Jake and Monica are the main characters but the real story is between the gorgeous Bret and Angel. It's a great dystopian story, the cowboy who fights for his freedom and his beautiful mistress Angel. This book is full of angst and electric attraction. There's so much in this story I really loved it. I was devastated when it ended but I shall ...more

Great read

A very unique story of women owning men as slaves and how some treat the men compared to others. Angel is very is one of very few that allows her people control of their own lives. Bret is one of her “men” as has a very difficult time believing in her goodness. Great story and I loved the back and forth between the characters..

In a world where men are slaves, valued for nothing more than breeding, pleasure and hard work. Bret finds himself on the auction block, blindfolded, naked, and groped, he vows to be no women’s slave. But Angel has other plans. From the moment she sees him and Jake talks her into buying him she knows he’s different. Beware this book has a abrupt ending...

Loved it.

This book, author, and premise of the book is new to me. I love the books utility message and how it can never be easy to do the right thing even know it's wrong. Written well and great character s. Congratulations Miss Schulz. I looking forward to reading the pre book and the second book in the series. Keep up the good writing.

In a dystopian future in which men are enslaved by women, Bret Masters finds himself captured, abused, drugged, and up on an auction block to be sold to the highest bidder. Luckily, his buyer, Angel Aldridge, is compassionate Mistress who runs her ranch as a healing sanctuary in which men are treated well, with their own self-determination. Bret's ranching and agricultural background prove invaluable to the ranch. There is a growing attraction between the two, but both are badly damaged by circu ...more

Sluggishly slow

Didn’t realise it’s nit a complete story and you need to buy the second. Love the premise of the story but it drags an awful lot. Won’t keep going.

Dystopian romances are normally not my thing, but I was intrigued by the promise of the story line, a promise that the book just didn't fully deliver.

This was a book whose pacing needed to be edited very finely. I found myself in more than one spot doing something I NEVER do, I skipped page after page of narration. The author needed to tighten up the pacing, stop telling and start showing, and cut back on the narration as a whole.

Brett and Angel, as characters were developed, but not necessarily

I wanted more than nonstop angst with no real progress in the plot

After reading the first book in this series I left with so many questions this author hasn’t begun to answer. It’s obvious Angel had something horrible happen to her 7 years ago that killed her one true love. Unfortunately, we have no details other than the nonstop angst she has over any potential feelings for Bret. This is despite her secretly fantasizing about him based on stories her friend Jake has told her about Bret. After s

Disappointed

This was a long book. I enjoyed the different scenario on women and men dominance. The hysterical strength is kind of unbelievable. I was really enjoying it but Angel had too many issues. I was just over it. Stop and go. She was over the top with it. I struggled to finish and was pissed to see it ended without resolving anything. Then there is a book to be released in 2021! Why oh why didn’t I notice that before I started. I would never have started reading it. It did have good elem
