This is basically decadal photo essays as diptych: 50s 60s. The latter as a lot of recognizable peeps: Roy Orbison, Jeff Beck, etc. I mostly dig the first half, especially the earnest unknown contestants in front of Otis Rush, Ruth Brown, a candid Esquerita, etc.

Just like every Kicks Books this is one of those "wish you were there" affairs, only this time with pictures.

Its a shame that Goodreads don't have the cover printed. Eddie Rocco was a photographer who captured Rhythm n' Blues life in 1950's Los Angeles. Lots of images of nightclubs in L.A. as well as in New Orleans. He also shot images of the Byrds, Jan & Dean, Jimmy Page/Jeff Beck Yardbirds, but for sure the main focus is on the great Black American music scene - and its wonderful.
