Swan Lake Mates #2

What the Flock

A brand-new steamy standalone paranormal romance from Domino Taylor, co-creator of the Wild Operatives series. Each book features a new couple.

Ever since Eleanor’s husband died in a tragic wreck, she’s done her best to provide a happy life for her little girl. The treats in her small-town bakery lure in customers from miles away, but visits from the local chief of police are the icing on the cake. Griffin is everything she wants, loyal, dedicated to the job, and absolutely gorgeous.

Chief Griffin Montgomery lives for serving the community. Despite his bald eagle roots, he's had his eye on the town's most eligible swan maiden for months. But so does another party—someone who isn't thrilled with Ellie's miraculous success story. From vandalizing her property to threatening her bakery, they'll do anything to make her fall.

Luckily for Ellie, Griffin plans to be there to catch her.

A Sweet & Light 3.5 Stars

Swan shifter and baker Eleanor (Ellie) returned to the town of Crisis after loosing her husband, having built a successful bakery, between her work and her little girl she has very little time for herself and even less time to consider dating again. However, none of this means she doesn’t appreciate the sight of Chief Griffin (Griff) Montgomery when he comes into her bakery. Griff never thought he would think seriously about another woman after all he had endured whilst married to his ex-wife, but since the moment he met her, Ellie has burrowed herself underneath his skin, overhearing her saying she wasn’t ready for a relationship he has kept things friendly, but now he’s ready to make his move, a move that surprises and delights Ellie.

Luckily it never feels like Griffin is second best for Ellie, something I was concerned about when starting this book. The chemistry between them is clear and their interactions had me smiling a fair bit.

The ending of this felt a little rushed/abrupt and I do think it could have been more fleshed out. Overall, I enjoyed this book much more than the first one in the series, I found myself comfortably sinking into the story. I can see myself picking this up again at some point when I need a quick, light, and sweet read.

Ellie's getting her chance to make a connection with a certain uniformed shifter and BOY does she need it. Being a widowed, single mom business woman is tough and she needs someone who supports her whole-heartedly. As it turns out, Griffin is the perfect supporter.

Sure, they might have hit a bump or two when Ellie sees his (well-meaning) actions as overstepping, but they figure things out. Eventually.

Before we get to the "figured it out" part, we get baked goods, smoldering looks, a creepy dude who doesn't understand the word "No", sexy times, unexpected family, and one seriously adorable kid who knows a good guy when she sees him.

Bring on the next couple!

Light shifter romance, but not completely sold on the connection between Eleanor and Griffin. My favourite part of the book is when Hero Griff spends time with Eleanor's daughter and the other small swans by shifting and watching over them and helping them fish -so adorable.

Ellie and Griffin

This is a very good, well written shifter romance with a little action mixed in. This is one of a series of stories set in a small town of mostly swan shifters. The characters move from among the stories. Read and enjoy.

An eagle finds a home

Enjoyed this book. She was one of my favorite characters in series. He was a steady and persistent hopefully mate.
Did expect a bit more laughs since characters in other books seemed funny. But her daughter made up for it.

Really enjoyed reading. Couldn't figure out who was breaking into business and not getting caught even when there were cameras. Loved the ending. Highly recommend reading. Great story.

I like it

It was a good book. I knew who the bad guy was before they revealed who it was. But it was still good storyline.

Great day read

I really enjoyed this book. Especially conduct that I have not read the first book in this series yet.
I liked that you were able to see the progression of Ellie and Griffin's relationship and how they overcame average relationship issues.

What the Flock is book two in the Swan Lake Mate's trilogy. If you haven't read the first book, No Fox to Give, you totally should because it's too cute and you get more of Maddie and Dean in this book, as well as get to meet Ellie and Emma for the first time. However, it is not at all necessary. Both books can be read as standalone if that's what you're feeling.

Ellie is that supermom that happens now and then: single parent, business owner (she's a baker!), best friend, and pretty cool lady all around. I thoroughly enjoyed her in both books and hope to see more of her in the next one. Griffin (if you guess he's a griffin shifter you'd be wrong; Mrs. Taylor is simply not that blatant) is the police chief of the small town of Crisis and is an all around great guy. He really is just an all around sweetheart. And I love his twin sister too!

If you're looking for a really sweet rural Texas romance with some nosy swans, a few other shifters, lots of delicious baked goods, a bit of a crime mystery, some steamy bits, and a lot of cute kid, this is totally the feel good romance for you!

Enjoyable story to read

I loved this story about Ellie the bakery owner and the Chief of police Griffin Montgomery. Ellies husband died awhile back and she might just finally be able to move on. Griffs ex was a gold digger and thankfully his sister had him do a prenup. Now he has his eye on Ellie.
Great story with some action in the way of a burglar. Well written self-contained story that I recommend to read.

I really liked this one. The first book in the series was good, this one is definitely a shifter romance where being a shifter makes a difference to a pivotal scene in the book. The threat to the heroine was good, and while I totally knew who it was, I didn't see what exactly he was up to in advance if the revelation.

I really liked Ellie. She's her own woman, and doesn't need any man to save her, and even defends herself from the hero's Alpha Male posturing.

What the Flock

I loved Ellie and Griffin. Both great characters from the first book.
Ellie had a widow for three years. Trying to do it all herself. Raising a daughter, running a bakery. While attracted to Griffin she it to herself. Griffin spent a little to much time in the bakery. Not because of the food, but because he wanted to be around Ellie.

I Loved it!

‘What the Flock,’ is the second book in the Swan Lake Mates series. It is a charming and very romantic read. Griff and Ellie’s story is one of second opportunities and of a brilliant HEA.

Swan Lake again!

This was a great story about two shifters in Swan Lake - the sheriff and the baker. It was an easy read, with good guys and bad, a little mystery, adorable cygnets, and a feel good romance with a great HEA - don’t skip this one!

More feathers

Another romance with excitement, the characters growing, and a beautiful ending. This is a fun series with explicit scenes and cursing, but tastefully done.

Nice strong Romance

So I feel these characters were much more fleshed out than the first book’s couple was. Griff and Ellie has much more back story and made it stronger
