INCREDIBLE ANIMALS is a fascinating collection of animals by special skills, including clever camouflage, devoted parents (such as penguins), and unexpected friends (symbiotic animals). Each section has a page spread of a lead-in to the category, following by a tiled spread of different animals with a paragraph about each and an illustration of them. There are so many fascinating animals in the book, and I loved reading about each

The handsome digital paintings in this large informational text are outstanding and show attention to detail as well as admiration for the various animal species presented here. Although I would have liked the inclusion of a map that showed where each animal might be found, the text does identify each species' habitat. This book hits a homerun with hundreds of amazing animal facts, colorful illustrations, a table of animal groups, and a glossary of key words. All of this information is contained in 14 chapters with catchy titles such as “Expert Builders”, “Small But Deadly”, Strange Superpowers”, and “Devoted Parents”. Each section features animals across the globe including those found in the sea, the arctic, deep in the jungles, in woodlands forests, desert areas-some are even found in our own backyards! This book gives information about animals around the world with unique qualities and abilities. There are sections for different types of animals like predators, expert builders, devoted parents, and animals with camouflage. There are animals that glow, animals that migrate, and animals that are small but deadly. There is even a special section for animals that become unlikely friends, like the suckerfish that hitch a ride on the back of a seaturtle and clean the turtle's shell.

ARC provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

There are many, many good books on animals. Really too many good ones. Add this book to the list and put it somewhere on the top. With beautiful illustrations and power nuggets of information, it will keep the child occupied for hours. If like me, you have a youngling who hasn't started reading on her own yet, you get to partake in the fun.

Tell them about the Immortal Jellyfish or the devoted Emperor Penguins. Talk to them about fr
