Misty Black is an internationally bestselling and award-winning author of dozens of picture books in several languages. When she's not busy crafting magical stories that inspire and delight children worldwide, you'll find her exploring her faith, spending time with her family, or engaging in a friendly competition over her favorite board games. She's only a bit competitive, or so she says (wink).

Her passion for cooking runs deep, as she learned the importance of a home-cooked meal from her mother at a young age. And while she can brew up a mean pot of soup, she'd be the first to admit that her singing voice leaves much to be desired.

She loves the great outdoors and camping in the mountains. However, she doesn't get to go as much as she'd like. But that doesn't stop her from seeking adventure in other ways, mainly through reading and writing.

Her ultimate goal is to inspire a love for reading in every child so they, too, can embark on thrilling adventures without ever leaving the comfort of their own minds. If you're looking for a family-oriented author with a passion for inspiring young minds and a willingness to sing off-key while whipping up a cheesy lasagna, look no further!

Love it

Read the Spanish version but I'm sure the English one is just as great. I loved this story of who loves who more between mother and daughter. It's so cute.

I had also read author Misty Black's "Grandma's are for love", which is also a great book, and thought it was cute how the "book" made a cameo in this story.

“You Taught Me Love” is a fun, vibrant story about love and all the different ways it can be declared and received. It’s the second book in the author’s “With Love” collection and is a playful expression of just how deep a parent’s love is for their children.

My son and daughter-in-law are expecting their first baby (a little girl) in April 2020 and it’s been bittersweet watching them experience the miraculous journey of the pregnancy. As a new grandmother-to-be the most endearing message I have tried to pass along to the expectant couple is the gift of love through the eyes of a parent. There is no greater love and no greater gift, and yet it’s something not easily expressed with words.

“You Taught Me Love” articulates this message through a delightful romp between mother and child as they play the “I love you more” game. The little girl in the story exhibits solid attributes of confidence, happiness, joy and self-esteem – qualities instilled by the love of her mother.

The story is told in lively rhyme, with love and affection jumping off every page. The tone is musical and fun, and the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. Colorful, playful and energetic, they are the perfect complement to the message. I just love the big eyes and curly hair – reminds me of my beautiful daughter-in-law and I can’t wait to share this book with her!

Though the story is makes for a lovely bedtime read, parent’s might have a hard time getting their kids to settle down – I can just picture your little ones wanting to act out their own “I love you more” games.

“You Taught Me Love” by Misty Black is a book that will be read and performed over and over again. Perfect for little ones of any age, as well as parents and grandparents!

Expressive and explorative

I love what reading can do and where it can take you! This book is a competition of sorts between a mother and daughter and their expression of love towards one another. The little girl is so sweet - drawing inspiration from items in her room to express the love she has for her mother. From sunshine to rain, hilltops to space it’s a very fun and creative Children’s book. I Recommend it for parents to read to a young child (my 4 year old loved to find the frog on every page) and also would be a thoughtful gift for an older child to give to a parent for a birthday or Mother’s Day. The front page has room for a special note to your loved one so it has its own built in card!

Love has no limits!

This is a beautiful book based on a beautiful theme - Love 💕
The love between a mother and daughter is so special and this book captures this perfectly. As a mum of two daughters- this is so relatable! With the beautiful feel of the classic ‘Guess How much I love you’, this story has many similarities- but with a much more modern and relatable feel too.
Love is shown in the most beautiful way in this story. Other themes that can be explored through the story are of ‘ family relationships, kindness and and how love is perceived.
Complete with beautiful illustrations , written in rhyme throughout- this is a beautiful book for any family with young children to enjoy.

I love you much more than that

This is a precious story about a game between mother and daughter. Who loves whom more? It seems there's no way to tell as each loves beyond the limits.

Adorable illustrations and easily creditable rhymes are offered in this new Misty Black book. Children will enjoy the imaginative features and searching for the ladybug on each spread. Parents will appreciate that this book tries to encapsulate the love shared between parent and child with concrete ideas (when we know that there really is no way to articulate the depth of one's love).

A darling little story to be savored and shared.

A sweet book about the sweetest sentiment

This darling book is filled with charming rhymes as mother and child share how much they love each other. The illustrations are sweet and captivating. We loved looking for the ladybug on every page. The writing is genuine and relatable. Mothers and children alike will smile at the fun verses, and this will be a book they love to read together over and over again. Thank you for such a beautiful book I can share and cherish with my littles forever!

This is a beautiful book to share with your young kids. The story is about the game between a mother and a daughter how to express their love to each mother. The daughter use her reativity and Imagination to describe how much she loves her mom. My kids really enjoyed reading this lovely story with us. Highly recommend to have this book in the collection.

Sweet little story!

This is a sweet little story! An easy read and lovely illustrations. Children will find this very easy to understand.
I particularly like the little task of hunting down the ladybug and little hearts which seem to appear in many of the illustrations on most pages!

Another beautiful book by Misty Black, with some beautiful illustrations too.

A lovely way to discuss love and caring between a mother and child (in fact I read it to my grandchildren and was able to reference a three-generation love pyramid to them) and explain how I Love You should be an important part of the day, especially as part of a bedtime story.

I absolutely loved the rhymes and I am sure they will stay with us for a while to come, and we will continue to add our own comparisons of how much we love each other (Jessica's best one was "as tall as a sunflower" and Ethan's was "as loud as a Tyrannosaurus Rex"). "

The power to do and show love lies in you. It's something we can all do, demonstrate and share.

Adorable

This is an adorable book. The rhyme scheme and illustrations are both well done. Mother and daughter going back and forth with each other determining how much each loves each other is something that we definitely need more of in this world today.

Super sweet read for little kids

I read this to my six and three year olds. My six year old said, "it's awesome! Because it's about loving people, and about loving your parents. My favorite part was the frog in every picture." My three year old stay glued to the pictures for the whole story.

how can one measure love?

How can one measure love? And love for your child at that? You can’t. And that is what this book is about. I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised by the imaginative examples the little girl gives. So sweet

Sweet Love Story

This book was a very sweet story about how much we can love. It would be a sweet bedtime story. It actually reminds me of the Guess How Much I Love You book. If you enjoyed that book I would recommend this book too.

The book is a great activity book! I would highly recommend buying it though. It’s a little hard to do the activities online (or maybe I don’t know how). Otherwise I loved the book and feel my nieces and their mom would love the book!
