To live in the light, they hunt in the dark…
Runa is used to mysteries. Fortunately, she’s skilled at using those things to her advantage. Until some truths about her past are revealed, and her world is shaken to its very core. Now, she has her sights set on finding and saving the family she’s never known. What wasn’t in her plans is the sexy, mysterious stranger who seems to find her over and over, taking her breath every time.
All his life, Brom knew he’d eventually have to find the Varroki and take his birthright. Then a witch lays out a nearly impossible choice before him, and Brom decides to follow his heart. The beautiful and enigmatic female he’s drawn to is more than captivating. She makes him want to reveal all his secrets. But doing so could be the difference between life and death—for both of them. Especially in the battle between good and evil where all of the relics of the First Witch are in play—and everyone has a hidden agenda.
This is book is a part of the Kindred series and is not related to any other series written by Donna Grant, and takes place in its own world. Everspell is book #5 in the series. The heroine of this story is Runa and she is the little sister of Synne (Evernight #4).
Runa, is half-Gira like her sister—though her gifts differ from Synne’s. She meets up with a warlock that has been told to “find” her, Brom. Love blooms and sparks between these two… to where not even death can separate them. The first witch’s bones come together, to right the balance of the world. Will there be a peace or more chaos? Dive into this awesome book for the answers.
This book was received as an ARC from Donna Grant’s ARC Angels, the following opinions and commentary are my own and no way reflect the greater DG Groupie Community. Donna Grant is a great paranormal romance writer, and has many different worlds to choose from. This is an excellent novella, to transport to another world for a few hours.
Brom is half-Varroki. He has carefully kept his heritage a secret. Brom intends to find the blonde-haired, blue-eyed warrior woman who haunts his dreams. Luckily, fate leads him straight to her. However, Brom and Runa must evade not only witches but nymphs too. Can Brom trust Runa with his secret? Will he choose Runa over the Varroki? Runa is half nymph. She is a bounty hunter, who specializes in witches and nymphs. While stalking a bounty, Runa learns about her heritage and her family. She sets off to find and help her twin and grandmother. However, Runa encounters a mysterious and handsome Scot. Can Runa find her family? What perils will she and Brom face? Brom is the perfect match for Runa. The two share a lot in common, both being loners much of their lives. I adore Brom’s thoughtfulness toward wildlife and their natural habitat. When he and Runa needed shelter, Brom chose not to kill the animal to take its home. Instead, he chose to share the cave while respecting the animal’s distance. What I like the most about Brom is his common sense towards magic. He only used his magic when it was absolutely necessary. Runa steadily grew on me. I like how she knew when to stand firm and when to capitulate. Runa did not let stubborn pride keep her from accepting aid when it was needed. What I love the most about Runa is her dedication to family. Regardless of their separation, she still wanted to help her grandmother and sister. Runa understood that circumstances beyond their control kept them apart. EVERSPELL is book five in Donna Grant’s paranormal-historical romance series, THE KINDRED. It is necessary to read the previous books to understand the overall plot, especially EVERNIGHT, book four. Also, characters and couples from the prior novels make appearances throughout the story, or they are mentioned. EVERSPELL is a captivating tale of fate leading two kindred souls together to fight for the greater good. I cannot wait to see what else the author has in store with this series.

Brom received a call through his dreams to go after a very specific woman, yet with no name nor direction, he uses his heightened senses and talents to find her. But is she friend or foe... While Runa close to ends an assignment has the world as she had known it shaken to the core, now a able to know whom to believe or trust. Upon their first encounter, they feel an intense attraction stronger than everything else they ever sensed. And whatever she believes is her right course to follow, he stays a bit behind but not too far to be able of assistance, or so he thinks. While it is my first read in this series, after the first pages I was able to catch up and enter this new universe. Their journey to their HEA is not one smooth road, as more than strength, they will have to trust one another and seek the right path. While both have lived a lonely life, each took a different course, they lived secluded but when Brom chooses to trust, Runa holds back. Brom is amazing, he fears to fail but he relies on his instincts to guid him, he never doubts her, only willing to keep her safe. Runa is more ambivalent, she assumes she is in the right but is quite deaf to the warnings she is given. Until she understands what is really to treasure. 4.5 stars

I have been granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.
EVERSPELL is the fifth instalment in Donna Grant’s THE KINDRED adult, paranormal, fantasy series set in the mythological world of magic, witches and warlocks, hunters and the Gira. This is Runa, and Brom’s story line. EVERSPELL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
SOME BACKGROUND: Sybbyl, a powerful witch has set about to collect the bones of Thea, the first witch, bones said to give the owner immense power but along the way, Sybbyl has taken control of the Gira, and destroyed anyone and everyone who stands in her way.
Told from several third person perspectives including Brom and Runa EVERSPELL follows Runa, as she sets out on a journey of revenge and reprisal. Raised by her grandmother’s friend Morea, Runa will discover that the past is not what she was led to believe, and in this Runa is determined to exact retribution but our heroine has been tasked with taking down the rogue nymph like Giras, and her latest quarry reveals so much more than Runa could have imagined. Meanwhile. Brom, a warrior with his own secrets and hidden magic, is tasked with finding and aiding our heroine Runa, a task that finds Brom quickly falling in love. As Runa and Brom’s relationship fast tracks to love, Runa refuses Brom’s help on her mission, a mission she believes, she will never return. What ensues is the building relationship between Runa and Brom, and the potential fall-out as Runa takes a stand against a foe she is ill-prepared to battle.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line couples-Leoma and Braith, Ravyn and Carac, Helena and Jarin, Synne and Lachlan . We are introduced to Malene and her consort Armir, as well as Runa’s grandmother Asrail.
Once again, EVERSPELL and the Kindred Series is infinitely and deliciously detailed with enchanted creatures including the nymph like tree creatures known as the Gira, water nymphs, snow nymphs, the Hunters, and the Varroki, a group of witches and warlocks who have battled the Coven since the First Witch died. The premise is captivating and enchanting; the characters are colorful and magical; the romance is fated, passionate and intense.
Everspell is the fifth and final book of Donna Grants' magical Kindred Series. Everspell can be read as a stand alone but I have read all the previous books and am glad that I did to have a full understanding of the Coven, the Varroki, the Gira, and the Hunters. Runa is half human and half Gira . She really doesn't fit anywhere and because she doesn't know who she can trust prefers to be alone. Her grandmother, Asrail, fallen queen of the Gira, split Runa and her twin sister up at birth to protect them from the Coven and the Gira. Brom is half human and half Varroki. He too is a loner and doesn't feel he fits in anywhere. From the time Brom was very young he would dream of a blond, blue eyed woman and a voice would tell him he needed to find her - that their paths/destiny were linked. Brom was obsessed with finding her. Runa recently found out that she had family - a twin sister and a grandmother who were in danger from the Coven and the Gira. So Runa single-mindedly sets out to find them. Then she meets Brom and the attraction between them is immediate and intense but they have trust issues. Runa is determined to fight this battle alone to protect Brom, but Brom knows that only together and with some help will they be able to beat the Coven and Gira. Lots of twists and turns, along with an epic battle between good and evil with emotional upheaval but this book is definitely worth reading. Enjoy!
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.
If you haven’t read any of the other books in this series, you will have trouble following the story. Donna Grant does give a good “fill in” for the previous books, but YOU REALLY NEED TO READ THE PRIOR BOOKS FIRST. Even though I’ve read them, trying to remember who, why, and how come took a good bit of time to remember, and all the prior books characters and relationships added to the process. And I really didn’t like Runa. She never seems to learn from her past. But I digress… Neither Runa or Brom knew the other at the start of this book, but over the course of a few days traveling together, they develop feelings for the other. Each has a backstory that does conspire to prevent the two from accepting their feelings; this part of the book seemed to take quite a while. Eventually, they part-but in all good books this parting is not for very long, or permanently. The last quarter of the book is where the story becomes much more interesting. Characters from the previous books make appearances, and this adds much to the book. The ending is not the ending…maybe for Runa and Brom, but the reader can tell there will be more to the overall story in another book. 4 Stars for the overall book, and a thank you to Donna Grant for adding this to the Kindred series. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I was given an ARC by the author, and this is my honest opinion.
Runa is a loner. A survivor, warrior and a woman who knows how to take care of herself. Runa walks a thin line with her feet dangling on both sides of the line and holds her secrets deep. She’s someone I definitely wouldn’t want to be on the wrong side of her sword but yet hope she would join in on my side of the battle. Just learning of family Runa didn’t believe she had any longer, her world is shaken just a bit. Runa is now on a mission when an unexpected man drops into her world and never leaves her mind.
Brom chooses to be a loner because he doesn’t feel like he fits in anywhere. He dreams of a woman he has yet to meet but feels the overwhelming pull to find her. Brom hides his true nature of what he is at the moment he needs the woman he sees in his dreams. He knows he can feel something so much more and knows deep inside that he can be himself with her. There Is much more to her and them than the lady in his dreams.
Everspell was epic in so many ways. From the moment Runa and Brom meet to the struggle they face, together and apart, to the battles they face in the end are epic. I knew I was walking into a well established series but let me say the world building it top notch. I feel like I was truly carried away to another world. The characters are confident and strong. Willing to fight to the end and very likable. The magical element was exciting and in your face. The romance between Runa and Brom was fast and furious but fate has a way of doing that. They fought for their lives and their passion. That is a winner in my book. I very much enjoyed Everspell.
So full disclosure this is my first book in this series for me. I started reading and was I beginning to think I needed to go back to read the other books, but I pushed ahead and I am so glad I did. There are a lot of characters and once I got use to them I fell in love with this world and will be going back to read them. Runa and Brom are soulmates. When they meet it is instant love and sometimes this doesn't work for me. Although in this fantasy story it did. This book had a mix of suspense and drama and love. I loved all the action scenes. I love Good versus Evil stories and this was awesome. There is no cliffhanger but the ending does set up the next story so I'm excited to see what happens next. I received an early copy for an honest review.
This was the final book of The Kindred and wow it really blew me away!
This story mainly focused on Brom and Runa’s journey! We get to see many others that have linked within the story which made it all come together! What I love about Grants series is you don’t have to read every single one! You can enjoy each one and not feel lost! I am fully intrigued to start from the beginning and get to know all characters involved!
A series that is for anyone who loves and enjoys magic!
I really enjoyed this but the battle and the ending. One of the characters didn’t make it and I have a feeling she will show up again in the next series or I really hope so. That was a huge disappointment. I loved the water nymphs! Who knew? I’m anxiously awaiting the next series to come to audible.
Donna never disappoints! This is a great read could not put it down. I didnt realize this was in a series but it was such a great read that it wasnt a big deal! All the gaps were filled with information in the story, but if you want the details of the characters history then start at the beginning.
Every book Donna writes is amazing and Everspell is no different. I've binge read this series in a week so I'd be ready for its conclusion and it did not disappoint. I felt happy, excited, scared, heartbroken and every other feeling in between reading this book, well done Donna.
Evernight is a phenomenal soul awakening journey of finding the unexpected and following your heart. I was beyond thrilled to be pulled into a world full of uncompromising heart, unshakable passion, and unrelenting hope. My heart will never be the same after coming in contact with the incredible characters who added to the breath and color of this already majestic world. Nothing could take away from the wonderful and intense storyline that wove and bent itself into something truly breathtaking. This is a stunning series full of pure wonder and boundless possibilities.
Runa has a purpose that gives her meaning, but it doesn't even begin to touch her heart. When Fate gifts her a shocking surprise, she isn't sure she can truly accept it. After all she is nothing close to normal, so she knows it won't fit in her life no matter how much her heart yearns for it. Instead, she turns away in order to fulfill a mission to find and protect family that she never known. Brom has lived a solitary life until he is given a mission. In following out that mission, he stumbles upon his future if only he can learn how to protect and fight for it. With help from some unexpected allies, he finds that he can conquer his demons and claim his heart. Will Runa discover that even she deserves love before its too late, or will both she and Brom lose the very thing that they never knew they longed forever to have?
Brom and Runa took my heart on quite the adventure. I had no idea what to expect, but I was anything but disappointed. They proved they had enough inner strength to conquer any task including the one that their hearts fought for. I savored how hard and completely they fell for the other. It was fast, but it was true and pure. Characters like these didn't need a long time to learn what and who they wanted. Their souls instantly recognized their other half and then refused to let them walk away. Even when Rune walked away, their hearts continued to knit closer together with each step she took. Love refused to be denied, and Rune was no match since her stubborn heart worked against her at every opportunity.
I must give credit where it is due. Donna Grant is a true and honest goddess of romance. It doesn't matter which sub genre she writes, she challenges, conquers, and reclaims it as her own. There is nothing that she cannot do once she puts her heart and her mind to the test. If you want to experience what romance can feel like when it is all consuming and completely unapologetic, then you need to pick up one of Grant's books and savor every second that she will enthrall, delight, and transform.
It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Donna Grant, her Dark series is one of my all time favorites. I'd heard a lot of great things about the Kindred Series so I had high expectations and once again Ms Grant has managed to blow me away with Everspell. This is book 5 in the series. I have not read the previous books, but I was pleasantly surprised that this book was easily read without having the info from the previous books. Ms. Grant was able to fill in enough info from those stories so that the characters from those books blended seamlessly into this story.
I can't think of a single thing I didn't like about this book - I loved the world, I loved the characters, and I enjoyed the romance. Runa lives between two worlds - the Human world and the magical world which is a place full of dangerous creatures (Witches, Warlocks, Nymphs, etc). Runa has never felt she belongs to either world and after the death of the women who raised her, she is quite content to be alone and to hunt for hire. the creatures who killed Morea (at least that’s what she keeps telling herself). During one of these hunts for hire she finds out that many secrets have been kept from her and her life is about to change and intersect with people she never imagined she would have in her life.
Brom is a loner, by choice, and is also living between the two worlds. He's my favourite kind of brooding, secretive hero who you can still tell his heart is in the right place. The relationship between him and Runa is combustible, and you can feel the chemistry between them. Runa makes assumptions about Brom and decides that he is better off and safer without her, so she tried to ditch him and continue her mission without him.
The story is fast paced and completely grips you from the very beginning and it's the kind of story you want to keep reading about. I look forward to reading the previous books and to reading the coming stories.
I recommend this book. I received an ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
Runa is a loner who was raised by a family friend to keep her safe from those who didn’t think she should exist. She has learned to straddle two worlds because the secrets she keeps mean she does not believe she fits in either one. Brom is also a loner who shouldn’t exist - he is part Varroki, and that secret keeps him from fitting in. Brom has been dreaming of a woman he has not met and when he meets her is surprised by his instant attraction to her. Runa is stunned that this mystery man, who seemed to recognize her, also intrigued her. These two were meant to meet and their attraction was undeniable. Runa was lucky that when she injured herself that Brom had been following her. They spent the night together in a cave and they gave into their desires. They both realized how strong their attraction was but dealt with that in different ways- Runa left Brom to protect him and Brom followed Runa to protect her. Neither of them know that they are both involved in the same war against the Coven. Sybbyl is intent on ruling the world and making the humans live in fear like the magical beings have for so long. The remaining members of the Hunters, their mates and the Varroki will do whatever it takes to keep this from happening. Brom and Runa both play an important part in helping to end the Coven, but it will come at a cost. This is the last book in Donna Grant’s Kindred series, though with the wealth of characters we have met, I don’t believe their stories end here. Some main characters’ (Elin, Asa, Malene and Armir to name a few) stories have not yet been revealed to us readers and I cannot wait until Donna Grant takes us with them on their journeys.
Everspell is a tale of two people that are destined not only for one another, but to be the key to the ending of the fight between the deadly evil Witch stalking the world and those that have been battling her and those like her for years. While I can honestly say the ending broke my heart in a lot of ways, I hope the series doesn’t end here because these characters and the world they inhabit continues to intrigue me and keep me wanting more. Brom is the man that we all want by our sides; steadfast, sensitive, strong, sweet, and sensual, he is the type of character that carries the story and keeps you reading no matter how hard you might be pulled back into the real world. Runa was a good match for him, despite being a little bit foolhardy and sometimes not fully thinking out her actions. I would have loved her to be more thoughtful of those in her group and take in account those in her circle, but she was too slow to trust. The passion between them was a steady undercurrent and the few times it came out were a blaze to witness, but we didn’t get nearly enough time with them together for me. I loved the story in all, though the romance was a little less than normal for me, mostly due to the epic battles, the overall resurgence of previous characters and the weaving together of previous storylines into one fabulous arc. I am sad to have seen some parts of the ending and hope to see happy endings from that in future stories, but I will just have to (try to) be patient and wait. Another great story Donna!
Everspell is the fifth book in The Kindred series. I haven’t read any of the previous ones. I didn’t need to have read any of them to still get a wonderful complete sense of the world, it was done that well. The book also starts with Brom listening in on the Varroki and Runa getting a history lesson by a Gira as well as a witch. This filled in a lot of the gaps that had me a bit confused initially. The biggest thing I missed out on was exactly who the other main players were and how they came to be in that particular place in the story. Other than that, the book read perfectly fine without all the prior knowledge. But it would probably be best to start at number one and read them in order.
Brom and Runa had a connection even before they met, through some dreams that Brom had about her. The attraction was clear from the beginning and I enjoyed seeing them together.
It took a bit of time to get to the climax of the story. Brom and Runa had some harrowing experiences together and apart. Runa was throughout it all very determined to save her grandmother and her sister, though she hadn’t even met them.
I think what I also missed was that usual feeling of animosity you might have towards the villain. And that’s probably because I started with this book and missed the previous ones. I assume the reader builds up towards hating Sybbyl more over time as the series progesses.
All-in-all it’s a well-written story, and it ends this chapter very neatly. The ending does imply that there is more to come.
My review is a bit late to be considered an ARC, but thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of the book.
While this book could be read as a standalone just because this author does such a great job of story telling, I would read the previous books before this one as I feel like there would be a lot you are missing otherwise. In this one we get Runa and Brom's story. Runa is a bounty hunter whose background is a mystery. But while out on a bounty she finds out about her own past, she knows she must do what she can to keep the family she doesn't know safe. She doesn't expect to meet a man with more secrets than she, herself had. Brom is half Varroki, and he has know his whole life that he would have to find them and face his birthright. But when faced with an impossible choice, he decides to follow what his heart tells him. And that is Runa. But will both of their pasts come back to haunt them in ways they don't see coming?
Ok so let me just say that on a whole I did really like this book, but I can't say it was my favorite of the whole series. I didn't really like Runa at the beginning. Farther into the book I started liking her a bit but I definitely had a hard time connecting with her. Brom was drool worthy from the start for me. And maybe that is why they are perfect for each other, they are definitely the opposite of each other. In ways that I didn't expect to truly work but as usual this author has a way of making even the most different characters work for each other! This was a good ending for the series, although I still have questions and am hoping for spin off series in order to give me answers to those questions! All in all, still an enjoyable read!
Brom, a half-Varroki warlock, sees a woman in his dreams and hears a voice telling him that he must find her. What's a man to do but pack up some belongings and hit the road in search of this mystery woman.
Runa's world is upside down and backwards right now. She's recently discovered her grandmother hid her and HER SISTER away from the Gira (wood nymphs) to protect them....halflings are usually killed but since granny was the Queen she pulled some quick strings, then gave up her crown.
Honestly I was a little confused but that's because I didn't realize I missed a book so a few of the characters referred to, I didn't know them or their history. Thankfully Ms. Grant does a wonderful job in filling in some of the gaps while telling us the new story.
Obviously these two are not going to trust one another just for the sake of getting along. Fact is Runa doesn't want Brom around and he's not sure why he keeps following her. Little by little their attraction takes over and Runa opens up a bit. There's a coven of witches, more Gira, the Lady of the Varroki and plenty of others to keep you entertained.
Only drawback for me....the "final" battle. Yes, evil is defeated but at a high cost. Armir, Malene's right hand man is devastated and takes off. My heart broke. Actually I think I like their non-love story more than Brom and Runa. Let's see where this goes now that the coven is gone. I mean we did get some cool new creatures to learn about.
Entertaining adventure with cool magical elements! Also, the setting is interesting and unique. Fae like characters called Gira and witches make for interesting characters; plus, there’s more intriguing species that add to the story. Loved Runa’s strength; she’s not very fond of people, so she’s a loner, but she’s a strong female character with a good heart. Runa is sort of an assassin type person, so there’s a bit of a thin line between doing good and doing bad, but she’s learning. There’s a lot of secrets that she doesn’t know; she doesn’t know a lot about who she really is, and that she has family she never knew about. She finds herself on a quest to find a sister she never knew about. Unfortunately, there’s an evil witch on the loose trying to rule over everyone, and old witch bones that hold great power causing problems for many. Fortunately, she meets Brom; strong and protective Brom. Brom heard a mysterious voice in his mind telling him to find Runa; the physical attraction is instant between Runa and Him, but both have secrets about themselves they are trying to hide. Lots of passion between these two! Such a fun adventure of a story!! Love the style of the story! Looking forward to reading more!
This is book 5 of the full books in this series, so for the full story, you may want to start from the beginning. Each book has a different main couple, but there is an overarching storyline.
I received an ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
Everspell is book 5 in the Kindred series. I have not yet read the previous books. If you have the time, I’d recommend starting with book 1 since some of the crossovers from past books would have been richer, but you can read this as a stand-alone novel. I plan to go back and start from book 1 to truly appreciate the epic finale. In Everspell we meet witches, warlocks, nymphs, and some other subspecies whose lives are changed for both good and bad.
Everspell opens with Runa at a crossroads (she lives between two worlds - human and nymph). A nymph tells Runa a secret that changes everything for her, and she chooses to find out the truth of who she is. Along her path of discovery, she meets Brom and it's clear from their initial meeting that while they’re soul mates, that the path to happiness will not be without danger and sacrifice.
Once I was able to start connecting the dots from books 1 -4 the challenges facing Runa and Brom and the characters from the earlier books became clear. I hope there’s a spin-off coming soon because I need to see how the characters move forward with their lives after finding their great loves, and in some cases losing them before having the chance to find their happiness. I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance novels with magic and fantasy.
Everspell ARC Review: Every time I start reading one of Donna Grants books I can not put them down! Donna Grant’s amazingly wonderful imagination takes us on adventure with beautiful Witch Runa on a quest to find answers to the family that she doesn’t know also to find help defeat the evil Coven.

This is book 5 in the the final Kindred series and will leave you on the edge of your seat to see what happens next! This amazing book takes us on a journey with these 2 characters and their undeniable attraction with each other. Donna Grant you have an amazing talent in so many different genres.
All I can say is Donna Grant you are an amazing Author you have nailed it again. Now I am hoping that there will be a spin off series as this is the last book in the Kindred stories! Runa is used to being the Hunter. She has a canny knack for being in just the right place to catch her prey. She's not a merciless killer, she only hunts with a reason. She has only recently learned that she is not alone in the world - she has a sister and a grandmother out in the world somewhere. But can she find them before the clan they escaped finds her?!
Brom stumbles into the path of Runa. They share an intense interlude but she vanishes before he can learn more about her. He's searching out the Varroki, he's half Varroki and has been able to "listen in" on them and has decided now is the time to join their ranks as the bones of the First Witch are being recovered. The balance between good and evil is balanced on a knife-edge.
Ooooh, I love this saga! And not only because I'm Scottish and a mythology freak LOL. Brom is everything good about Alpha Males. Runa, she sure is a talented actress - she can disguise her feelings and has a poker face I'd kill for! How she doesn't just obliterate her "people" when she first meets them - she's far more strategic than me! Oh, and word to the wise - never pee off her Grandmother, she makes deals like you're not going to believe!!!
This book was a fantastic read!!! From the first page until the last it had my full attention!!
Runa is a very strong, independent woman. She is fierce and loyal and not afraid to kick some butt. When she meets Brom, there is a connection there and at first she doesn't understand it, but then as time goes on and their connection gets deeper, she knows. Brom is unlike any other man. He has lived in seclusion and while he is friendly to others, he harbors secrets and he is cautious of others. He is also very fierce and loyal and loves so deep. When he meets Runa, he is instantly attracted but there is something more, something deeper there with her and he needs to see what it is. Their journey is full of ups and downs, adventure and love.
I absolutely loved all of the twists and turns that Donna Grant has surprised us with in this book. I loved seeing past characters and meeting new ones. This book had my emotions all over the place; one minute I am laughing the next I am getting sad. Each character in this book played a role that was significant to the story and I loved every single one. There are certain characters that I hope get a book one day, but this series is definitely one of my favorites!!!
Everspell is the final book in the original The Kindred by Donna Grant. This novel has all of the elements that I appreciate in Ms. Grant’s books. It has a hero and heroine that are trustworthy but must learn to trust each other, family to save, allies that join the battle of good verses evil at just the needed time, secret agendas, and villains that you despise. Of course, there is also romance with heated instant attraction that manages to become lasting.
Being book five, it is not nearly as long of a series as some of her series can be. Since I had missed one or two of the books in the series there are characters who I was unfamiliar with but seem to have been part of previous stories. I was not confused just wanted to know their stories too. So it probably would have enhanced my enjoyment of Everspell if I had read all four of the others which I now hope to go back and do. Because of that I wholeheartedly recommend this book but also that the books in the series be read in order. Also there is a spin-off series coming.
4.5 Stars The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Exciting addition to this fantastic series! I haven't read all of the stories in this series but I didn't need to to enjoy this installment. It's Donna Grant! An outstanding author in any genre brings in another hit with this story of two halflings fighting against evil and finding love. Runa is half human and half Gira, a nymph species, on the hunt for the truth and her family. She's stunned when she learns she has a sister and who her grandmother is. Both appear to be in danger. Brom is half human and half Varroki, a supernatural warrior. He is lead to find and help Runa with her mission. Both have something in common...they don't like people. Loners unite. These two don't even try to ignore the full on desire when the lust is palatable and they're willing and able. Hotness abounds! It's a race to stay alive and find out what the power crazed leader of the Coven is up to plus save Runa's grandmother and find her sister. Love the girls reunion. Thrilling action and adventure in this world of witches, warriors, nymphs, and others. Some trying to save the humans and one wanting to rule. If you're a fan of the series this is a must read. If you're new, jump right in cause it's terrific. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Brom is half-Varroki warlock, he's been on his own a long time until he receives a dream with the face of woman he must find.
Runa is half-Gira and Synne's sister. She was raised and trained in seclusion by a Gira and was unaware that she had family. She's has ingratiated herself to the Gira by hunting Gira and witches for bounty.
When Runa discovers her grandmother is being held by Sybbyl and the Coven she is determined to free her no matter the cost. Not even a distracting warrior that calls to her heart and aides her after she is injured.
When these two meet their heart connection is instant but Runa has secrets and a mission and is determined to walk a way. Brom is equally determined to stay by her side and spends a lot of his time trailing after her.
While Runa hunts Runa, Sybbyl plans to draw out the Varroki and use the Gira to find the witch her betrayed her but they have their own plans.
This final book in 'The Kindred' brings everyone back together for the final confrontation and battle with a few unexpected turns. Grant closes one chapter while still leaving the door open for others.
I received a free copy of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving a review. If you like my reviews I hope you will follow my blog. https://wyldheartreads.wordpress.com/

Series: The Kindred #5 Rating:3 stars - I liked It
Runa has recently learned some truths about her past that have shaken her to her very core. Now she is determined to save the family she doesn’t know. What she doesn’t plan on is to run into a mysterious stranger who seems to keep finding her right when she needs help the most.
The battle between the Coven and the Hunters/Varroki finally happens. Everyone fights to stop Sybbyl, including some never before seen allies. The end battle was nonstop action and danger that kept me on the edge of my seat. There were some unexpected losses, which was upsetting but not everyone will survive during a battle.
The only thing I didn’t love was Rune and Brom’s relationship. It was just ok for me. I don’t mind instalove relationships but theirs had no build up. It felt rushed and I never really saw the connection between these two, outside of lust. I had hoped as the story went on I would like them more but I never connected with them.
Overall, I enjoyed the battle and the new paranormals but the couple and romance was just ok for me.
