Three hundred years ago, witches terrorized the world. Three times as powerful as any other demon, no one could stop their devastation. Absorbing that much power so quickly was thought to be too much for any woman to endure. Many believed it drove them insane and subsequently; turned them to evil. Out of desperation, the Council of Warlocks engaged in a secret war against ...more

A terrific supernatural adventure somewhat akin to Beautiful Creatures, but with a style and voice all its own, and not necessarily YA, IMO. It tells the tale of a "young witch who must battle tremendous odds to save her daughter," and has "the voodoo culture of New Orleans as its backdrop." This book really delivered for me. If you want to try something different and very cool, you need to check this out.

"I enjoyed reading, The Bewitching of Camille (Book #1) by D. A. Barney, who in my opinion, is an extremely talented writer. I also enjoyed reading the website for this book at since it gave the background of the characters which I enjoyed and found it very interesting and exciting to read about them and see illustrations of their appearance in this very exciting story.

I enjoyed the way the author used varying (yet very appropriate) lengths to the chapters to magnify the

Sometimes a girl wants to read something yummy. The Bewitching of Camille, masterfully written by D.A. Barney is a Pu Pu Platter! The assortment of paranormal romance, adventure, fantasy, mystery, and wolves, perfectly satiated my hunger for a fictional, page-turner with emotional substance. Yes, I teared up. Yes, I was invested in all of the characters. I wrestled with liking the characters that I hated because Barney insists on character depth. The book is fluid. The obvious subsequent step is ...more

In a world of vampires, werewolves, and warlocks, witches rise in strength above them all. For that reason, the Council of Warlocks was established 200+ years ago to ensure that all witches be eliminated before their 21st birthday, when their power peaks and they lose their minds to the immense force, turning them into something evil. But Camille, a powerful witch descended from one of The Five Great Ones - Esmerelda, wont give into such a fate so easily.

Witches, tarot cards, dark magic, and

The Bewitching Of Camille by D.A. Barney:

"If you destroy all the bees 'cuz of a few stings, then the world is deprived of honey."

Thanks to the author for approaching me for the review and sending me an e-copy.

This book is my first in Supernatural genre. I am probably the only person who hasn't read or watched Twilight, but my non-readers friends have. When I read the synopsis of this book, the only thing I could think about was this book's connection to the Salem Witch Trials. Read on for the

I read this book... and then I read it again, and I read it again. I cannot stop thinking about the characters and the world created by D.A. Barney. I literally sometimes think I know them, which is weird, but it's a testament to the level of detail and care that were taken in creating this story of supernatural creatures with all too human flaws. The backdrop of New Orleans also infuses a smoldering sense of weight and atavistic savagery into the mix that cannot be ignored. Normally, when I ...more
