This isn't really Buffy Season 12. Well, not just Buffy Season 12. Season 12 was only 4 issues. And it's pretty good. Harth, the evil brother vampire from Fray comes back from the future to try and take out all of the Scooby gang. It's pretty good although Georges Jeanty's art has gotten weird. Everyone seems to be going all Benjamin Button and turning into children.

No stars for the Young Giles story which is half of this book and really exceptionally bad. But the rest is the end of Buffy - not so much a final series but more like a feature-length final episode. It’s a satisfying round-up and features plenty returning goodies and baddies with just enough space to give everyone a send-off of one sort of other. Feels like the right time to end it, and I will gratefully pass on the forthcoming reboot. Saluting an iconic character.

As this hard cover collects Buffy: Giles and Buffy season 12 I’ll split the reviews.
Giles: Girl Blue. Sadly Giles is by far the worst written story from the Dark Horse era of Buffy titles. Giles is written so awfully that he might as well be a different character entirely. The author doesn’t seem to have a love for the world Buffy lives in and thus the story just doesn’t mesh well. The writing is inconsistent and rushed. It’s a tough read to get through. If I was to find a positive it would be ...more

This is the final "season" of the Buffy comics that spun off of the tv series after it ended. It took awhile for me to finally get around to this one because my local bookstore never seemed to have a copy when it was originally released and I never bothered to ask them to special order it for me. Then I think it went out of print, but then was just recently re-released in this library edition for whatever reason. I wanted to support my local bookstore during these COVID times and they had this i ...more

The ending to the Buffy series comes with a bang - albeit a short bang - as Buffy, the Scooby Gang, and Fray all combine to stop the latest Big Bad ... or more accurately a lot of Big Bads!
It's a fun ending to a series that started to fail in the previous season (I've reviewed the library editions of those as well), and whilst it is a shame to say goodbye to the characters, it is a good ending for them. ...more
